Is It Bad On A Mac To Play Games

Is playing video games bad for my MacBook Pro?

First let me explain how a laptop works. Laptops are design to be portable and lightweight. Therefore all the components inside will have less room. And this will cause it to heat more inside. The laptops have sensors that will communicate with your cpu and your fan, telling them to do what they are suppose to do in case of an overload of data. Therefore your fan will get louder when it tries to cool your cpu at the same time your cpu is getting a signal tellin it to slow down because of the overload can and will overheat it. Your cpu will star running slower and all the processes inside your system that are running will star to slow, so you will get les data flowing and your laptop will star to cool down. So my answer is, no your laptop should  be fine it won't brake but it will get slower as it overheats.

Why does my MacBook Air 13" overheat when I play games?

Simple thingMACs are not gaming focused devicesYes if you bootcamp them to windows you will get good performance on most AAA titles on high end macsYours is a MacBook Air 13No discrete GPUneither is there a quad core CPUA 1.6Ghz dual core i5 will not cut itOverheating issues are there because of the aluminium build and bad thermal solutions in the macI don’t know why but that fan is not enough for cooling somehowI actually figured out a lot about this issueWhat happens is that since the cpu is a weak 1.6 GHz i5 it has to consistently turbo up from core clock to boost clock even for the simplest of tasks like 1080p video edits or even an AI heavy chess game (in built to macOS)Consistently having to use turbo clock can end up having adverse affects ie increasing the amount of heat generationWhat now happens isSince Apple want extremely silent devices what they do is program macOS to never turn the fan on until temperatures reach the extremes hence the heat keeps building up and by the time the fan kicks in the cpu is probably over 85–90 celsius and since Apple are little bitches about using better fans and not even allowing the smaller fan to run on its core RPM all for the sake of silence the chip is unable to be cooled down even after being a dual core x86 chipThis same problem is what happened with the thermally challenged I9 8950HK MacBook Pro 15The fans don’t kick in early and when they do it’s already all above 95 Celsius and the processor barely manages to keep the core clock or even underclocks itself to protect the chip and Apple yet again used extremely silent fans hence reducing there cooling capabilitiesThis is a huge mistake since letting a chip run that hot will reduce lifespan considerably

Can you play games on Macbook Pro 13" i5?

Gaming on a mac is really a bad idea. If your really wanting to play games on computer, a PC is really your best bet. They perform better at a fraction of the price, and most games aren't released on mac. As far as whether you can play that or not, it really depends on if it has a dedicated or integrated graphics card. If it says Intel HD then its integrated and will almost certainly perform very very poorly in games. If it says nVidia or AMD/ATI then its dedicated and you will have to see what model card you have to know if you can play it or not. game-debate.com is a good place to check. Just put your specs in and go to the page of the game you want to know about and it will tell you if it can run. I exspect you have Intel graphics though, so the answer is probably no, you can't play very many recent games, if any.

Hopefully this helped,

I just started to play fortnite on my new Mac. The game runs fine, and the graphics are good.?

The only issue I have is that I can only build walls, as when I try to switch to stairs or floors or whatever, instead of switching it does the function of the key I press, for evample trying to use the f1-f5 keys don’t work for the game function, only turn the brightness up down etc. How do I fix this?

Does playing Runescape make Mac slower?

No, letting him play Runescape will not slow down your Mac. Runescape is an online game, meaning that it is played over the internet. There will be no effect on your Mac at all. So don't worry, tell him he can play =D

MacBook Air- Can it play roblox?

For all those roblox gamers!
Okay. So I plan to get a MacBook air. The comments on it says it's great for education, but the description says nothing about gaming.. By "gaming" I specially Mean if it plays roblox well.. I used an iMac, and it's GREAT on roblox, but the thing is, if you can download Roblox on the MacBook without a problem and not causing damage.. If the MacBook isn't for it, please tell me your affordable brand and model of YOUR laptop/ desktop. Plus, also great for schooling, Thanks!!

People keep saying that the Mac is bad for gaming. Why do they say this?

Partly because Apple doesn't put a lot of focus on it, so they have machines with poor GPUs, machines with decent GPUs and very rarely machines with awesome GPUs. If you are willing to pay for it in the Windows world you can always get an awesome GPU.Partly because different operations are fast in different large systems, but the Mac is tiny in the gaming world, so very few games bend far to do what is fast on the Mac, the do on Windows because that is where the bulk of the players are. So a triangle mesh with displacement map gets benchmarked vs. the visually identical mesh map plus deformation map. Whatever is faster on Windows gets used. The Mac gets to use whatever windows used. Faster? Slower? Who cares, be happy it runs at all.(In theory Apple’s Metal could change that, but it probably won't unless more games get ported over from iOS where Apple is a big enough market to matter)I wouldn't say the Mac is bad at gaming, but it isn't great. If you have a Mac for another reason you can certainly play games on it. I do sometimes and am not unhappy. However I also enjoy a lot of games that don't stresss the graphics on any system. Like “darkest dungeon , and “keep talking and nobody explodes” (ironically I have those for the PS4 and PS4VR, even though a Mac with Intel’s crappy embedded GPU could totally handle).

Why isn't Mac good for gaming?

No reason. If a game is available on the Mac, it tends to run OK on the Mac (at least on the models with suitable performance specs). The problem is that Macs are usually behind the curve when it comes to cutting edge GPUs. Also, most Macs these days are driving Retina (hi res) screens, which is an awful lot of pixels to be pushing around - that uses a lot of what GPU power there is. This means that the latest games, which tend to push GPUs to the limit, are not going to run well, even if they are available in a Mac version, which the majority are not.So if you can find a game you want to play in a Mac version, and you can satisfy its requirements, then have fun. But be aware that the PC crowd are always going to be all smug and superior - they’re often like that. For 90% of what I use a computer for, I prefer my Mac. But I do have a gaming PC for the other 10%, which is gaming. Its performance is better than my Mac even though it’s a few years old now, and it cost quite a bit less. However, the thing is so horrible to actually use for non-gaming purposes that these advantages are irrelevant, other than playing games.
