Is It Bad To Miss A Dose Of Antibiotics Metronidazole

Is it ok to miss 2 doses of antibiotics?

No, it is not ok, it is bad.Forgetting two doses out of how many per day?  If only once a day, you miss two whole days, if thrice a day, 2/3 of a day no bacteria inhibiting or killing blood levels of the antibiotic is there, so no effect.  We know that stopping a course of antibiotics prematurely (let's say before 3 to 5 days) is bad, it could cause the bacteria to become resistant to that antibiotic.

Antibiotics Metronidazole - Missed a Pill today can I take two?

If a dose is missed, it is supposed to be taken as soon as it is remembered but if it the time is already close to the next dose, then take only the dose for that time. Remember not to double up, or take more than one dose at a time.
So if that one you know have not taken anything today, take one tablet now and take the tablet for the next dose according to the prescribed timing.

How bad is it to miss one antibiotic?

depending on your level of infection and the potency of the antibiotic, single dose can make little to huge difference.generally if its an injection antibiotic in an ICU single dose is critical. If its an oral antibiotic you are taking at home, a single dose wouldn’t really be too serious. But its good to inform your doctor who prescribed it, about the missed doses, esp if you missed multiple doses, to let the doctor decide if you need any further action.

Last night I missed my dose of antibiotic(metronidazole) because I was drining. Will that be a problem? Thanks?

What happens if I miss a dose?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the medicine at your next regularly scheduled time. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

What should I avoid while taking metronidazole?
Do not drink alcohol while you are taking metronidazole and for at least 3 days after you stop taking it. You may have unpleasant side effects such as fast heartbeats, warmth or redness under your skin, tingly feeling, nausea, and vomiting.

Missing my daily dose of antibiotics- what should I do?

There would be no point in taking another one. The idea is to keep the level of antibiotic in the blood stream above a certain level. When you missed your dose then the antibiotic level in your blood stream decreased to below optimum, but when you took your dose this morning you went up to above the necessary level again. You will not go down below optimum again until tomorrow.

Missed dose of Flagyl (Metronidazole 500 MG)?

I am suppose to take this 3 times a day with meals for 14 days. There has been a couple times where I have been 1 hour or 2 hours late accidentally cause I honestly completely got distracted each time and there has been 1 or two times where I have been 3 hours late. Will this still work in my system? I don't know how fast this antibiotic runs out of your system. I am taking it that I am suppose to take it every 8 hours but it doesn't say that specifically on the bottle it just says 3 times a day, but if you divide 24 hours that is what you get. I am concerned it is not going to work now. Also when I take it at night I don't take it with a meal cause I can't eat at night and go to sleep without my stomach being a mess, it doesn't give me any bad side effects or anything but is it okay to do that or is meals a requirement? I thought it was just if flagyl upsets your stomach by taking it by itself with no food. Thanks!

Missed two doses of antibiotic?

In this case, pick up where you left off. But don't listen to the person above who said to always do this. I'm a physician and there are times when you shouldn't.

With Flagyl, you CAN pick up where you left off.
However, make sure you do not miss another dose. And certainly not another day.

What happens if we take a lesser dose of antibiotics?

A lower dose of antibiotics can mean you're still exposed to the bacteria your doctor was trying to kill. If you still have some days left on your treatment, I'd suggest you start taking the prescribed dose ASAP.If it was a preventive treatment (you didn't have any infections), you'll be fine as long as you don't develop any symptoms. Keep an eye out for any redness, soreness, swelling and fever. If you were prescribed antibiotics because you already had an infection, you should probably go see your doctor again. You might have to start the treatment again. Please be careful with your antibiotics in the future. Low doses make it easier for the bacteria to develop resistance (since they're not powerful enough to kill), and it could lead to more difficult infections in the future.

I missed two doses of antibiotics what should I do? Feel kinda worried.?

Don't take it hun. If you don't know what to do, and your doctors' office is closed speak to your pharmacist. He will help you. You should definitely stop taking the antibiotic and call your doctor on Monday.
