For you though I think you should avoid drinking the 5 hour energy to stay up in school. The reason is caffeine becomes a habit and the older we get the more we rely on it as a crutch for a pick-me up. Your just 14 and your tiredness in school is more because your bored to death than any other reason. I say it is better to figure out why your falling asleep, are you not interested? Don't get whats going on in class? Or just not In the mood?

These are all better solutions than an energy drink habit...
Working out in the morning
Letting yourself fall asleep in class
Having someone help you to make your material interesting to you

Save the energy drinks AND COFFEE for a once in a while pick me up.

Can 5 hour energy lead to sleep deprivation?

I am a college student and I was wondering if I drink two 5 hour energy shots a day and get 3 hours of sleep (I take one at around 12 A.M., went to bed at 5 A.M. woke up at 8:30 A.M and took another shot then.), will that lead to sleep deprivation. The reason why I am asking this question is because of studying purposes

If you take half a 5-hour energy, do you stay really alert for 2.5 hours, or somewhat more alert for 5 hours?

My experience is a fairly high boost for about 1.5 hours. The hour following is a feeling of “come down”. The only thing that lasts 5 hours is restlessness. 5 hour energy are a huge marketing scam. Stay away from them.

Is it bad to take a 5 hour energy everyday?

To quote the conclusions of a recent study in the journal Pediatrics: "Energy drinks have no therapeutic benefit, and many ingredients are understudied and not regulated. The known and unknown pharmacology of agents included in such drinks, combined with reports of toxicity, raises concern for potentially serious adverse effects in association with energy drink use."

In other words, don't take that stuff. Try this for a couple of weeks and see if it helps:
1) Slowly taper off the 5-hour energy (take it every other day for a few days, then every 2 days, then stop. Something like that.)
2) Get at least 8 hours of sleep every night (I know it's hard with all the homework and stuff)
3) Eat healthy foods (no junk) in moderate portions
4) Get exercise, but not right before sleep.

See if that helps. Just think of it this way, back in the day, when kids worked in mines and on farms, they managed to do so without all this stuff. Surely we can handle sitting on our butts all day in class without having to drink a bunch of chemicals :)

Good luck.

Will this 5 hour energy boost wear off? It's been more than 5 hours.?

Some people are more sensitive than others to this stuff. I agree with the other answer, that you could use this energy to clean or organize or take your dog out on an amazing walk. You'll feel less anxious if you're moving around, so pop a few Tums and get out of your chair.

You can also try drinking water and see if you can flush this out faster, the stimulants causing the rush are water soluble.

After taking a Five Hour Energy, a couple hours later my eyes got very bad at focusing. This is two days later, and what does it mean if it hasn’t stopped after sleeping three times?

In your question you indicate a possible link (causal link?) with your symptoms to the five hour energy drink you consumed. Perhaps one doesn’t have any connection to the other. If this concerns you then seek professional medical advice/help from a licensed practitioner.

Do 5-hour energy shots really give you energy for 5 hours, no more, no less?

No. 5-hour energy is a caffeine and other chemical boost. How well it works and how long it lasts depend on a myriad of things. For example, I can take a 5-hour energy drink and go to bed and sleep all night. I have a very high tolerance for caffeine, so it doesn’t affect me too much. My husband can have 1/2 a cup of coffee at 1 pm and be awake all night because it effects him a lot. That said 5-hour energy drinks should be used sparingly, just as any medication. Some people will react very negatively and some hardly at all. It is a huge amount of caffeine and other chemicals that can be harmful if used in excess.
