Is It Fine If Steri-strips Get Wet

Can you get steri-strips wet?

You can get them wet but your shower should be fairly quick and you should not attempt to wash the area where you have the cut/incision. Under no circumstances should you take a bath before 10 days b/c then you are much more prone to cause an infection.

Steri strips fell off after 5 days, is that okay?

I just had a procedure done where they implanted a loop monitor into my chest. They told me that I could take the pressure bandage off after 48 hours which I did and then they told me that the steri strips would fall off by themselves, It's been 5 days now and this morning the fell off. Is it okay to get the area wet? I was aloud to take a shower with them in place so I figure it okay to get the area wet.

Steri strips got really bloody should i replace them?

Do not replace steri strips. If the wound is still oozing, apply a dressing over them. Steri strips are like stitches. They are holding the edges of the wound together so the wound can mend and heal. If you remove them, you will reopen the wound. Reinforce them if you must, but do not remove them. let them come off on their own.

Removing steri-strips after staple removal (c-section)?

I got my staples from my c-section removed on Tuesday and got steri-strips applied in place of them. My OB wasn't really specific about it, she just said they should fall off on their own, or if they really bother me, I can just take them off.

I just wanted to hear from women who have been there how the healing process went if you did remove them... they're kinda irritating my skin - I think the edges and corners are making my skin itch a little bit when I move certain ways.

Did you just wait it out or take them off yourself?

Why did doctors advise to put strips of wet cloth on the forehead of a person having a high temperature?

This was done in the hope of bringing patients fever down.Just putting a wet cloth on the forehead won't work although the patient may feel better. You need to give antipyretic like paracetamol ( crocin) or ibuprofen to reset the body temperature thermostat in the brain to normal. You need to strip patient and use cool fan or tepid water on all the skin. When water evaporates it will take away the heat and help bring the core body temperature ( taken from the ear or rectum) which is more relevant than the skin . As an urgent measure measure to bring the dangerously high temperature down neck can be cooled with ice to lower temperature of blood flow to the brain. It is important to correct the dehydration by giving patients a lot of fluid. One must try to find the cause of fever and treat it if possible.

Can guns get wet?

Yes.In the old days (and we're talking 18th century, here) guns operated by igniting gunpowder, so wet guns would quickly become useless.  Modern guns, however, work by a firing pin striking the cartridge.  The cartridge contains a primer, which explodes when you hit it.  When the primer explodes, it sets off the propellant, which propels the bullet.  None of these things need air to work, and will operate while wet.  In fact, as has been commonly pointed out, most modern guns will fire underwater.A couple of caveats.  One is that a gun is a precisely engineered device made of metal. Getting it wet will cause corrosion, damage the lubricants and cause wear.  This is bad for the gun.  After some time, it could make the gun dangerous to use.As for firing underwater, it's kind of a cool trick, but pragmatically useless.  A bullet in water loses most of it's speed within 3-6 feet, so underwater gun-battles would be pretty boring.  As an interesting sidenote, semiautomatics generally can't load a second round underwater, because the water resistance interferes with the slide.  That means someone using a semiautomatic could only fire once underwater, while someone using a revolver could fire multiple times.  That, however, is pure trivia, since the bullets really wouldn't go anywhere.
