Is It Good That The Usa Is So Car Friendly

What is the most eco-friendly car for the 'rest of us'?

The new 2008 Chevy Cobalt XFE, 4 cyl, 5 speed manual gets a so called 36 mpg. Not bad for American made, but I know we can do better. There is a Honda Civic that you can buy that runs on CNG. It has a problem with range. Good if you live in the city. Bad if you actually want to travel. Many cars now including the Accord V6 & Impala have 1/2 the cyliders shut off at hwy speeds to conserve fuel. Good idea. I no longer believe diesel is a good option. That is such an expensive option that it over laps the overall fuel economy in the long run. Many common cars such as the Mazda Protege', older Sentra's, Ford Focus always did well in mpg's. The problem with so many small cars today is that they are still too heavy. All those safety devices, 6 airbags, 4 disc abs, roll cage, crumple zones, etc.. add lots of weight. Taking away the mpg's they could get. Oh well.

The answer to your first question is not that complicated. The question why the USA is friendly with Jordan, could be answered by just looking at the map of Israel. What neighbours does Israel have? Libanon, Egypt, (Gaza strip) and Jordan. We do not count the sea of course. It has all to do with the simple fact that Jordan has absolutely the longest border with Israel compared to other neighbouring countries. You have to know this is very dangerous for Israel. If something happens, and it comes towards Israel....this is very difficult to manage from a military point of view. The USA is very aware of this. Securing a good relationship with Jordan, means securing the safety of Israeli politics and citizens, who would, without the support of the USA, be in a dire situation. The balance of peace in the Middle East is a very delicate one, and requires excellent diplomacy from all sides. But even though the king and government of Jordan keep friendly relations with the USA, Israel still seems to be afraid, as lately they started replacing the entire border fence ( that looked like one out of the 50ies) for a much heavier and higher one.By the way, also Egypt has quite some border with Israel, so here we find another good friend of the USA, as Yazan Albassa already stated before. (The Libanese border being peanuts....)

Why is the USA so friendly with Saudi Arabia?

Because we can have a decent open dialogue with Saudi Arabia, they allowed our troops in during Kuwait Freedom, they do arrest terrorists in their country. Ally does not mean love fest. It means that we can work together at some level. And I don't see them as making Iran look like Switzerland. Saudi Arabia has tried to get a shared nuclear energy project together so that the Iranians won't get their own. Other countries in the Middle East don't want Iran to get nukes either.

If your country wants to take on Saudi Arabia for their human rights problems, have at it.

Why do you post questions if you're going to insult people from the additional comments when they give an answer?

If you want to change these countries way of life because you don't agree with it, go do it. Saudi Arabia is not threatening other countries. There's nothing we need to do to them. And if we didn't deal with them, you be complaining about that.

What part of america are friendly and the not so?

To ask what sections of America are friendly or hostile is impossible.

Americans in general are a good, friendly and hospitable people just as the English. Hostility comes in small groups or individuals and can be anyplace and anywhere.

Sadly world events in the middle east are making Americans suspicious of people of middle eastern decent.

Locations of pet-friendly rest stops along I95 South?

All rest areas on I-95 are well maintained and patrolled. You won't have any problems there. As for hotels, make sure you get a hotel with interior corridors and not room doors that open directly to the outside. Also drive around the building before going in and make sure all the doors are locked and can only be accessed with a room key. If it's after dark and the doors aren't locked, then keep driving. There is really nothing to see between Washington, DC and Savannah, GA. You will see signs for South of the Border, but keep on going, unless you need to use the facilities as there is nothing there but tacky stores selling the same stuff that they sold when we went down 30 years ago. You can safely make it in 2 days of driving. The halfway point is roughly around Fayetteville, NC.

Where is the best Horse friendly state in the USA??? looking to move!?

OMG I am so lucky I came across your question a friend of mine boarded her horse and was a student with this stable until they are secretly selling the stable havent and wont tell the rest of the students until the stable is sold.
But I found the real estate ad for the farm:
http://www.homesdatabase.com/home-listin...

I have been there about 12 times over the years for their shows and stuff, the house on the property is small but with the budget you have you can add on or knock the house down and build a bigger one.
The arena is HUGE and beautiful.
The stalls are a really nice size, some of the fences to the paddocks need to be repaired, and the pool behind the house is small but again with your budget you can add on to it.
The barn, the house well everything about this stable is dated, with that being said you could probably get it for around $1.2-1.7M
You live in Virginia already so you wont be making a huge move.
Also this stable is only 20mins from the Showplace Arena where some really awesome horse shows happen every year.
You could get this ranch for a steal and basically remodel everything into your dream horse ranch.
The horse farm is worth around $2.5 but since they put it on the market earlier this month it has gone down around $100K every week.
They are desperate to sell, I noticed because of the economy most of the students cant pay for the $500 a month boarding so the stable has gone down hill, sadly they had some really talented riders I hope they find another stable.
But look into this place they need to get rid of it, you have the money to buy and remodel it if you choose to.
I dont live far from where this ranch is so if you need to make a friend if you decide to move there let me know I would love to help you and your daughters get into the horse crazy scene.
I have my own small horse ranch with a couple horses and allot of other exotic animals so if you decide to move to Maryland im here to lend a hand!

From what I've read about cultural differences, Americans are actually perceived to be unusually friendly. A story I heard is that the easiest way to spot the American tourist in an Anglo-nation like England is to find the stranger who will smile at you. Americans are more likely to smile at, help, or acknowledge the existence of a complete stranger than people in most other cultures. The considerable eye contact and phrases like "Howdy" and "Have a nice day" that pervade the US might seem normal to Americans, but that level of informality is actually common to only a few nations (Australia is another nation that tops the friendliness lists).A lot of that ties into American history. Traits such as being friendly to strangers made sense when you would depend on the kindness of neighbors to set up, say, your pioneer village in the expanding West. America has always been mostly welcoming to newcomers (our massive history of immigration in port cities) and strongly rejecting of deference to class (which goes back to our separating from England). Americans do not wait for introductions (as you would in highly structured societies like Japan), will happily chat to someone standing in line next to them, and do not have overly strong senses of personal space (though other nations have even less). Americans are highly informal and really do treat everyone as an equal (and before you come up with examples where that isn't true, I am speaking in generalizations and can tell you that most other cultures divide people into classes or categories far more frequently than Americans). Friendliness is generally a good trait, but in cultures where it is not prized as highly as in the US, it can cause trouble. Inviting a new friend to your home is easy in the US, but is considered fake and inappropriate in Germany where your home's privacy takes on more importance, or so I've read. Also, what different countries consider a "friend" also differs. Americans may be friendly, but we are neither the fastest nor the slowest to make what we consider real "friendships" and place different demands on our friends. Still, it beats being perceived as rude. I'm looking at you, France!http://www.kwintessential.co.uk/...http://www.isso.cornell.edu/itha...

Least friendly - any city in Mississippi.

I  live in a small town in  the Carolinas. One time the first month I was there, I was walking around the neighborhood , got tired, and sat down. THREE DIFFERENT CARS stopped to ask if I was okay. Generally southerners are friendlier AND less HARRIED, but country folks are friendlier than city folks everywhere. I'd be surprised if that was different in other countries.  There are, of course, exceptions. There is a great joke about this by  President John F Kennedy.  All Americans like to make fun of Washington DC.  DC is probably the demarcation point between the north and south, at least in the east.  References to the south in the US generally means the southeast.  His joke goes,"Washington has the best of both worlds, northern hospitality and southern efficiency."They say that if you have to explain a joke, it wasn't funny, but JFK  switched the proper references.  the north had largely defeated the south in the US civil war         (1861-65) because the north had been more industrialized. To say more about lack of friendliness in cities and in the north, a famous story is the murder of Kitty Genovese linked here:Murder of Kitty Genovese My experience is that most people everywhere are friendly.  I sold to the general public my whole life, and I was always struck by how tolerant most people are. It does help to look like the people you are near, but that is not controlling. I'm told that the activist and comedian Dick Gregory  has quipped, as a note of the challenges in eradicating racism," In the South, they don't mind if you're close ( have personal friends of the other race), as long as you aren't big." (achieve political power). "In the north they don't care if you are big, as long as you aren't close."
