Is It Hard To Get A Job At American Eagle

How do I get a job at american eagle?

I am a 17 year old female and want to work as a sale associate at American Eagle. A new store was just recently opened in my area and I really want to work there. I have never had a job before but I heard that that's ok. I am planning on going there soon to fill out an application, but I'm wondering if I should ask to see the manager? I'm not really sure since I have never had a job before; should i ask an employee for an application, fill it out, then ask to speak to the manager? Also, if I do get an interview, what kind of questions should I expect? I would really love to have this job, so please give me all the advice you have!

New Job at American Eagle?

No, you will not get to know everyone. Maybe eventually.. but it's not expected. You will, however, want to get a list of everyone's phone number and availability in case you ever need to call in. The managers will expect, or at least greatly appreciate, you getting your shift covered if you ever need to. I would go into work the first day expecting to watch a video or two on selling skills and then getting familiar with the store. Want to do some homework? Shop their online store. Having the knowledge of the different styles of jeans will be very beneficial. You will have customers ask you for your skinniest jean and you don't want to look around like you have no idea what you're doing. But don't worry, you will become comfortable in the store quick. Plus, most stores have floorset every month and everything moves around. Working these floor sets is a great way to get more familiar with the place and the products, so if I were you I would volunteer. (It's overnight work) Lastly, the dress code is either American Eagle brand clothing and shoes or no visible logos. Every store is different with how relaxed their policies are of course but double check with the shoe policy before you go in. They won't mind you calling in beforehand to double check. I have worked at two AEs and at one store I could only wear sandals or AE shoes (which don't exist for women) but at the other store they couldn't care less. Bracelets and other jewelry are totally fine as long as it's trendy/attractive. Be prepared to lose your cell phone for your entire shift as well. It must go in a locker and remain there! Good luck and have fun, remember the customer is your friend! :-)

What would increase my chances of getting a job at American Eagle?

When you go to apply, you don't have to wear AE clothes but you should wear something similar. Talk to the manager, and from the moment you see him or her, act like you would if you already worked there -- like yourself at your most upbeat and friendly. When they ask you questions, they are looking more at your attitude than whether the answer is perfect. Make sure to tell them that you get mistaken for an employee... and when that happens, you tell them no but you help them out. The manager will love this. If they ask why you want to work there, tell them you have a positive attitude, you are good with details, and you're very reliable. You can even say your room is neat! Tell them you really like AE... some kids just apply all over the place and don't care if it's a supermarket or an auto parts store.

Consider the manager's point of view: he/she is plagued by kids that come in late, forget to show up, don't want to work weekends, stand around and chat instead of folding sweaters, don't notice if a rack is messy or a customer is looking around for help.

Also, plenty of kids come in and fill out an application and then shyly leave. You can take the application with you, and then come back with it neatly filled out -- no mistakes. Or, after turning in the application, come back the next day, smile and say, I gave you my application yesterday, and I want you to know this is a place I really want to work.

I know you are only 15, but you could talk to the people at your nearest AE store and tell them your age. Ask them... what do you look for when you hire someone? (They will tell you something vague.) Then you should tell then, My name is _____, and I'll be coming back right after my 16th birthday.

Why is American Eagle called Aerie?

An "aerie" is associated with an eagle ...we're talking the bird here not the company. An "aerie" is what the nest of an eagle is called. The aerie is the home and a very important part in the life of an eagle. The aerie is also located in a high place where the eagle can remain protected and also maintain a good view and perspective of it's surroundings. I suspect the marketing gurus who searched for a name for this American Eagle Outfitters "subsidiary" or sub-line of clothing were trying to cash in on the natural comparison of an eagle's aerie to the relationship of AEO to Aerie ...or not. Maybe they just thought it sounded cool and appropriate.

What is it like to work at American Eagle Outfitters?

My experience of working at American Eagle Outfitters is at the corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA.Working at American Eagle Outfitters was a shocking experience. It was early in my career when I made the move from a corporate medical device company to work at AE. When I was interviewing my friend who was interning there told me, "Do not wear a suit." It took a while for him to convince me to fight all the trained interview practices I had learned over 7 years, but I was extremely happy I heeded the advice. In the interview I had that first day with the EVP of eCommerce, Fred Grover, he was wearing shorts and sandals. The company was filled with young people. Many people working there fit exactly the model customer demographic. There are amazing fun company events that cater well to this under 30 age group. People wore alot of AE clothes because of both the discount and culture. The company had some challenges with their internal growth and development. Merchants are king, at least in corporate HQ. They drive the business and thus the company culture revolves around them. There isn't a strong development track for employees. Poaching is rampant amongst the top apparel retailers, so you see people jump from Urban Outfitters, to Victoria's Secret, to Abercrombie, to AE, and around and around. So the industry is setup for growth to happen in transitions, not through internal development. This was frustrating for many after a few years, but understandable too. In merchandising there just aren't as many positions at the top and leadership doesn't cycle fast enough, so the younger talent will be forced to make tough decisions on leaving or waiting out for internal growth.I had an amazing experience working at American Eagle Outfitters and to this day it still stands as a massive foundation to the apparel, retail, and eCommerce work experience I have today.

Where can I buy silver american eagles (500-1,000 coins, 12-24k) at lowest price over spot. Where can I get lowest price for, say, a monster box? Any websites, locations, etc? I live in MA.

Definitely do not buy from websites or eBay if you live near a major city. eBay final value fees, PayPal fees, credit cards transaction costs, and shipping are expensive. These expenses are passed on to the buyer. Fraud is also common online, with every business experiencing such losses online, the costs of which must also be passed on to the buyers.Visit a few local coin shops. Finding one you get along with that sells at inexpensive prices will be an important connection you can establish, if you want to buy lots of coins. Show the coin dealer what the online price is. Negotiate. You will be able to find places that will offer as much as a dollar or more per silver eagle less than the lowest online prices.A few months ago, one of my friends, knowing that my hobby is coin collecting, wanted war nickels, which are 35% silver. eBay bid prices were around $0.95 each for large lots. My favorite coin dealer, who I’ve known for years, told me that the dealer prices at that time were $0.80 each, and that he would be fine selling them to me a few cents above that.

If you work at American Eagle or ever have PLEASE HELP!!!?

I don't work there, but I have friends who do...You can probably just walk into the store and ask someone at the counter (or anyone who works there) for an application. I think you have to be 16, but I would ask someone working there when you go to get an application just to be sure.

The interviews are done in groups, which means there will be other people applying for the job as well, and they will be sitting in front of the manager at the same time as you. They'll ask questions like, 'Why do you think you will make a good AE employee?' You should give more of an answer than 'I like the store, i like the clothes,' etc. Say something about appealing to the culture and target audience of AE, or the inviting atmosphere..something different to make you stand out from the rest.
For the interview, just wear nice clothes similar to the store's style. If you wear the brand that's great, or just clothes that look similar (no competitor logos, like Hollister or anything).
Also, make sure you appear friendly, confident, and outgoing. If possible, make small talk with the other people there..this will show the employer that you can get along well with others right off the bat.

You get paid minimum wage, and at the American Eagle where I live, (which is in Illinois) you get a 40% discount. They are pretty lenient on hours, and the discount is pretty much the main benefit for regular employees.

Hope this helps! :)

Umm..ok, for the making small talk question- just ask a question like, 'do you go to school around here?,' or maybe 'Is this your first time applying here?' Just a little conversation starter, doesn't have to be anything big. It just shows you're friendly and outgoing.

Working for American Eagle Outfitters?

I really want to work at American Eagle, Im 16 and friendly. Do you needed experience working with customer. This would be my first job so i'm not sure about starting off in a clothing store for my first job. When they ask you certain questions how would you respond to them? What can you do for us that other candidates can’t? I don't want to sound rude so I don't know how to answer that with out sounding like a big head. Last what is diversity and why is it important?" If you could give me any tips on what to wear what to expect ect that would be such a big help!!!
I would really love to hear other peoples opinions about diversity, and hopefully be able to improve my answer with more detail about each stores clothing. I REALLY want this job :) thanks
