Is It Hard To Move To The Uk If You

How hard is it for an american to move to the UK?

I have wanted to move to the UK for a long time now. I have about a year left in my degree and I have decided that I want to start trying to plan this whole process out. I know usually it is majorly hard to get a work visa but I lucked out and I have dual citizenship in America and Germany so I already have a EU passport which I believe will let me live there without having to file any other paperwork. I just was wondering more on the lines of getting jobs and living expenses. How is it to adjust to the culture there? Are there major differences between the UK and America? Any tips from people who have already done it?

Why is it so hard to move to the USA?

You have to apply for jobs first. If an American employer offers you a job, they are the ones who are supposed to petition you for a visa. If and when a petition is approved, you can apply for a visa at the US consulate in London.

Yes, it takes time. As a UK citizen, you are in a privileged situation and don't need a visa to come to USA for up to 3 months while looking for jobs, having job interviews, etc (if not working).

How hard is it to move from the UK to the USA in your twenties?

It’s not a matter of age really. There are many different ways to visit or immigrate to the US. How hard it is really depends on your qualifications, whether that be your achievements, citizenship (yours or your parents), financial situation (you might be able to get an investor visa) etc.If you haven’t even been there and are just stabbing in the dark, definitely travel there as a tourist and see for yourself, explore your options. So to answer your question, it could be hard or it could be easy depends how you qualify. If you qualify easily, than in my opinion 20s is the perfect age to do so.

How hard will it be to move to the UK after Brexit?

As lots of people say no one really knows but there is a secret the remainers won’t tell you and the leavers don’t want to hear.Britain is massively understaffed.Britain needs at least 100,000 people a year to come into the country. Oh the remainers will tell you that bit and they love sharing it but what they don’t like talking about is how the free movement of people within the EU restricts movement from outside the EU. So whilst the leave campaign are the one being touted (somewhat fairly but often too extremely) as being the xenophobes it is actually the remain option that prevents movement of people the most. In particular the movement of non whites as Europe is predominiantly white. What will have to happen in reality is the criteria for people coming into the country from the whole world will have to be loosened to maintain the level of immigration we may lose from Europe. (I personally hope that the UK retains the free movement of people even if Europe don’t reciprocate.)The UK will be fishing in a larger pond for labour and there is the possibility that we can attract more skilled workers (and the unskilled labour we need) more easily. As I’ve stated in other answers government don’t really control how many people come into the country. The only two things that matter are 1. How many workers we need and 2. How shit the rest of the world currently is.

I want to move to the UK...?

My husband and I along with our two young children are thinking about moving from the US to the UK in a few years. We have enjoyed the idea of living in the countryside or a small village for many, many years. We are looking for a much more quiet way of life and only a small, very modest home. We really are just looking for more peace and a simpler life. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to do this. We have a student loan, mortgage and other debts that amount to about $120,000. We could sell our home, pay off our debts and maybe make $10,000. My husband has no degrees, while I have a bachelors in Art Education. I'm not sure it would be possible for us to find good jobs before we ran out of money. I really want to consider this. Can anyone tell me a place we could afford to move into that is safe and quiet? Also, how feasible is this notion? Is it possible for us to make this move given our financial, skills, family situation? Neither of us have ever been convicted of a crime, so I don't think passports/visas would be an issue. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Moving to the UK from US?

We're a family of 5, my husband and I and our 3 kids. We are citizens of the US and want to move to the UK for a few years, if not indefinitely. I am still in college, about to start my courses to become a dental hygienist. Once I get my AA in dental hygiene, can I transfer my degree to the UK and get a job there as a dental hygienist? Or would I need to go back to school and get another degree there? Also, let's say the visa is for me as a work or student visa. Will my husband be able to work over there in the UK full time? Thank you to anyone who answers :)

Is it a good idea to move to the UK from Germany?

The good news about having a job offer and not being sure whether to take it is that it means that you can afford to negotiate harder, because the downside of them saying "no" is that you carry on where you are and that's not a bad place :-)But bear in mind the three Cs rule of career development - namely that any job must have at least two of the three Cs:Contacts (to help you find your next engagement)Content (ie - really interesting things that will develop your skills and be exciting / challenging to do in their own right)Cash (ie - a rate of pay that makes you smile rather than resent your employer)A move to the UK would probably help your Contacts. What I'm not sure is what you mean by "a job offer from UK which is really not that great." If it offers ONE of content and cash, then that's good... if it offers neither interesting work nor good money, then you've only got 1 C on the list.

Can I move to the UK if my dad lives there?

My dad is British and moved back to England when my parents got divorced. I live in California(where I was born/raised) with my mom, an American but I go to my dads for Christmas and the entire summer. I'm 17 so I'm close to not being a minor but can I still live with my dad in England??? I want to maybe live there permanantly and visit my mom for summer and Christmas like I do with my dad now. I love California and my mom but after I graduate I want to live with my dad because I miss him and my other family over there a lot. Am I allowed to live there with my dad if I'm not a citizen of the UK?????
