Is it legal for a 15 year old to carry a fixed blade karambit knife with a blade length of 4 inches?

To answer your question, ask yourself this:“What legal reason do I have for carrying this item?” - this not only applies to knives, but anything. If you can’t come up with a good legal reason to carry that item, then you probably shouldn’t be carrying it, or at least be prepared to accept the consequences of doing so.In most developed countries, carrying anything that can be used as a weapon will attract police attention. As an electrician, I always carried a knife for work - was it a fixed blade karambit? No. Would that be legal. No. The nearest thing I can think of that looks like a karambit would be a lino/carpet knife, and you couldn’t mistake a karambit for a carpet knife. In short - hell no.

Is a rip gut hook knife blade illegal in the state of texas?

ask yourself, when is a knife ever illegal in texas?

Fixed blade carrying laws in Maryland?

You would be correct for the most part: Under 4-101 It is legal to carry fixed blade unconcealed in a belt sheath when not on school or other restricted property (separate law). I also live in Maryland and am a knife collector (aka "knut") and hiker. People do it all the time here when they go camping or are out working on farms. There was even a court case where a guy who was clearly "up to something" had a bowie, but he was found innocent because they could not prove it was concealed.

The "openly with intent to injure in an unlawful manner" is meant to make threats, intimidation, assaults and robbery illegal, but leave self-defense using a weapon legal (that would be the "lawful" injuring of a person). Mind you that self-defense is an extremely complex legal principle, and it is used to defend oneself in court when accused, not a "get out being arrested" loophole.

There are several cautions I must give to carrying a fixed blade openly. The first is city ordinances. When the state does not make something illegal, a city can make it illegal if they so choose. Large urban cities are more likely to do this. Be mindful of local laws. Next, have some social responsibility. When you carry a large blade in places where it is socially out of place, other people will react to you. If you are in a family restaurant with a huge bowie, the manager can get nervous and is allowed to throw you out or call the police. Even if you are not breaking the law, the cops will show, hassle you and make a scene. It can be a huge pain, who wants that? The last is that bladed weapons are very poor self-defense items. Piercing wounds into the body actually have very little "stopping power" and the effects of the wound are often delayed by several minutes. A solid, hilt-deep stab to the abdomen might prove fatal...eventually. It can take several minutes before the attacker feels it. They can still hurt you pretty bad in that time.

EDIT: Almost forgot. Folding knives (aka "penknives") are legal to carry concealed no matter how large they are. This has been upheld in the highest court in Maryland.

Are Karambit illegal new jersey?

It looks to me that they are nothing more than a curved blade, folding knife. I don't know why they would be illegal. New Jersey may have some type of size restrictions on folding/fixed blades. Are Bowie knives illegal in the UK?

Former Gun shop owner here. We sold a large number of knives in the shop too so know all aspects of the law surrounding their sale and use.The ONLY knives which are illegal to own are spring-assisted knives - also known as flick knives.Every other type, length etc are perfectly legal to own. However, they all become illegal if carried in a public place without good reason. If you’ve just bought it, or are on your way to sell it and it’s in public - perfectly legal. If you want to get it engraved and are taking it to the relevant place to do so - perfectly legal. If you are on your way hunting and take your knife with you - perfectly legal. If you’re in a public place whilst going directly to a friends house to show it off because you think its cool - legal if your friend has given you prior permission to do so.If you’re meeting that friend in the park to show it off - not legal. If you’re on your way to show it off at your friends house, but stop off to do some shopping first - not legal. If you’re carrying it because you are being threatened by some giant gangsters who want to kill you - not legal.Despite what the police tell you, a folding penknife is generally legal if the blade is under 3 inches. Carrying a fixed blade knife regardless of length will always get you arrested.Because of the work I do, I usually always have a large leatherman on my belt and the police have never cared.Sorry, went off on a bit of a tangent, but yes, Bowie knives are perfectly legal as long as you have a good reason for possessing it in a public place.

Are combat knives Illegal to carry in Indiana?

Indiana has no laws against most knives, with the exception of switchblades and throwing stars. The only laws in the Indiana Code that mention knives are IC 35-47-5-2 and IC 35-47-5-12.

So yes, a combat knife is legal in IN, even if carried concealed. Man, I am envious! I think that's the only state that's so easy on knife carry that you can carry a fixed blade.

Now, keep in mind that cities and counties are allowed to make their own laws more restrictive
Big urban centers often have much stricter regulations on weapons, regardless of what the state law is. For example, Indianapolis and Marion County it would be illegal to carry a combat knife, as the law forbids "dagger, dirk, bowie knife or stiletto" (legal-speak for "fixed-blade knife") from being carried in public. However, folding knives with blades 5" inches long or less are legal in these areas.

So try and look up your local county and city laws first before you carry that around. You can e-mail me if you want and I'll find them for you.
