Is It Immoral To Let My Dog Live Blind

Should I send my cat to live outside, at a shelter, or put him down? My cat has caused material damages in multiple properties I have rented. I have tried everything. My question is not about suggestions. I’ve tried them all.

It would be nice to know what the ‘material damages’ were, but it doesn’t matter does it? It seems that you no longer have the desire or patience to rehabilitate your cat, you have given up on it. The love and responsibility you once felt for your kitty is no longer there, and you just want it gone. That breaks my heart… for both of you.Do not put a once loved pet outside to survive on its own, that would be cruel and inhumane.Euthanasia literally means “good death,” and true euthanasia is the act of putting to death painlessly or allowing to die, as by withholding extreme medical measures, an animal suffering from an incurable, especially a painful, disease or condition, a painless death. —delivered by an intravenous injection of sodium pentobarbital—is painless, quick, and dignified. It does not sound like you cat is a candidate for euthanasia because the cat is not suffering from an incurable disease or condition.Putting this cat down is not euthanasia, so euthanasia is not an option.Sorry Edward Davies, but far too many shelters lack the funds to purchase the drugs needed for true euthanasia. Most shelters must resort to other means. Some animals will be killed using deplorable and merciless methods, such as gunshot where some animals survive the first shot only to be shot again and again. Many animal shelters still use gas chambers to kill animals. These gas chambers can expose conscious animals to the horror of watching other animals in the box suffer from convulsions and muscular spasms as they slowly die. Old, young, and sick animals are particularly susceptible to gas-related trauma and will die slow and highly traumatic deaths. There are still shelters in the U.S. that kill animals using electrocution or decompression chambers, which make the gases in animals’ sinuses, middle ears, and intestines expand quickly, causing considerable discomfort or severe pain. Some animals survive the first time in decompression chambers and are recompressed, putting them through the agonizing procedure again. There is hope however. My local shelter allows animals to be ‘sponsored. This means that the full adoption fees have been paid outright by generous sponsors (or you), making it easier for this kitty to find a forever home. An animal that is sponsored is far more likely to get adopted.Check with your local shelters or rescues to see if this is an option.Good luck to both of you.

Should China, South Korea, and Vietnam quit eating dog meat?

I am a Vietnamese guy who casually eats dog meat. Normally, I eat dog meat with my friend in a party, simply because dog meat is tasty (there’s no religious or monetary issue here). I think it is hypocritical to ask us to stop eating dog meat, simply because dogs are considered a “friend” in some areas of the world. Besides, there are a lot of other practices that should receive the same attention outside of the eating of dog meat, such as:Japan’s whalingCanada’s clubbing of sealsMass killing of whales in the Faroe IslandsSpain’s bull fightingWhile my eating habits don't affect anyone, some of these have negatively impacts the environment (and many people indirectly). But to my knowledge, there are not adequate efforts to stop them. Why is that? Is it because those practices happen in your own house, and has become normal?People always try to justify their own actions while judging others. I will not stop enjoying my favourite food just because some unknown person(s) on internet doesn’t like that!I start this updating part, preparing to debunking some myths in the relationship between human and their friend dogs. But I change my mind midway. There’s no good in calling names. I’ve been called so many times to realize that. So, instead of calling people names, what are good ways to prevent people in these countries to stop consuming dog meat? I don’t know about China and Korea, but there are working methods people are doing in Vietnam. They are:Travel to Vietnam, work with the Vietnamese, conduct business with them, make them rich. Consumers of dog meat are mostly of poor or low-medium background (including myself). While they may not stop eating dog meat now, if they become rich, their children will most likely not follow their habit. In short term, try to use your economic influence to prevent people to do that, one step at a time. First, urge the Vietnamese government to do more against dog stealing. Then when the time is right, maybe 5 or 10 years from now, make the final blow for the dog consuming altogether. People will not stop eating it, though, but they can only eat it illegantly, and that’s good enough, for now.In a democracy world that the West is so proud about, people talk to each other. Please do that instead names calling and discrimination. Thank you!

Is it truly ethical to euthanize old dogs and cats?

As someone with 15 years+ of experience as a veterinary technician, and has seen every side of the euthanasia question, here is my simple thought. Owners should have an emotional bond with their pets, one that allows them to communicate with that animal in certain ways by simply knowing the animal. Many people do not bother to develop this kind of relationship with their pets, but it can be developed, especially with dogs, who are proven to have the emotional capacity of small children. When you "know" your pet, you will "know" when they are resolved to passing on... and most of them do get to that point where they know it is time to go. Pets are a lot smarter than we think, sometimes, simply because they don't have as much emotional baggage as people do. On the contrary, just like dogs being taken to their death for sitting at a shelter too long, pets do know when they are being euthanized, and MANY - even pets that are sick - are not ready to go when humans make the decision for them. So, in that case, it becomes execution. I have seen it all. I have spiritually connected with pets begging for their lives because they were not ready to go yet, but their owners thought "well, he's too sick, so.." and I have experienced dogs in pain who have walked in and laid right down on the blanket we set for them, knowing what it was for, ready for the relief of permanent sleep and the spirit passing on. I guess if you don't believe in any of that, then this all sounds like BS to you, but when you've seen the things that I have, and experienced the things that I have, you get to learn it. Every euthanasia situation is different, and every owner should do their best to learn to communicate with their animal so they can make the decision together. In the case of animals not ready to go yet, I find that most of the time that coincides with owners who, when it all boils down, simply do not want to put the effort into the extra care that some pets need when they are old and infirmed. But hey, we put our old and infirmed away in nursing homes to pay people to give the care that we can't, so... it's a habit, in some cases. I truly believe in the idea that animals know when the time is near for them, and they should be included in the decision.

What do you think about breaking your morals for monetary value?

What do you think about breaking your morals for monetary value? Thanks for the A2A.To be honest, I don’t think this is actually possible.Instead, you break what you say are your morals for what you really hold to be a greater moral. For instance:Let us pretend that I could be a hitman. Now, I, like most people, believe that killing innocent people is wrong. It is against my morals. But let’s say I do it anyway. Why? Maybe I hold excitement to be of greater value than another person’s life. Maybe I hold money to be of greater value. Maybe I use the money to pay for my mom’s pancreas transplant, (is that a thing?) that I hold her life to be of greater moral value than the many lives I go through to get the cash.Hmmmm, maybe we don’t even need to say that we break a moral, but rather that we put it in the hierarchy that we see as best. Each moral precept is contingent on it not interfering with a greater moral precept, and if it does then it is ‘right” to ignore it. So, rather than broken, the moral is simply in its correct place.Maybe this analogy is better: I think that kicking a dog is morally wrong. But if a dog is attacking my daughter, you better believe that something is going to be done, and a kick in the ribs is quite possible. That doesn’t mean that once I have made “kicking dogs =bad” subservient to “protect daughter =good”, I will go around kicking all dogs. Many moral precepts are If/Then contingents.

How do Amish people survive in the hot summer without air conditioning?

Since they do not have a/c, they are not dependent on it or used to it to stay cool. Many have big trees that shade their homes from the afternoon sun. The open windows on the shade side of the house and close the blinds on the sunny side. They do their outside chores and cooking in the morning or evening after it has cooled down outside. They stay hydrated drinking water instead of sodas or alcoholic drinks. Some use battery operated fans.

Can vegans justify owning a pet cat?

I went vegetarian 4 years ago, and vegan 2 years ago. I say ‘vegan’, but there are disclaimers. My two cats are 6, which means they were 2 before I stopped eating meat. Does this mean I should have gave my cats up for adoption because I’m no longer a suitible carer? Now, my partner is not even vegetarian. She eats meat occasionally and is a veterinary nurse. Because of the industry she works in, she sees cats suffering time and time again because as more people move towards a vegan lifestyle they try to bring their furry friends along with them. They have very sick cats that are sometimes nursed back to full health in a matter of weeks just from adjusting their diets. The trouble is, cats need taurine and vitimin A, else they can go blind and die of renal failure. Although vegan cat foods attempt to suppliement this, they are new to the market and their molecular structures are not perfectly digestible. They may get there, but they’re not there yet.Cats are obligatory carnivores. They have evolved to eat nothing but meat. The comments that suggest cats will evolve to become vegan if we feed them vegan diets are deluded. Evolution takes tens of thousands of years. That is a lot of dead and suffering cats. Sure they might evolve eventually. But your cat will be a fossil in the ground by that point. As a vegan, you’re not supposed to cause any suffering to animals. So this is a paradox.I eat vegan. I buy canvas shoes and fabric sofas. But I feed my cats fish based foods. I don’t call myself a vegan because then you get grouped with all of the militant vegans that take great pride in shaming anybody who is not. A lot of vegans don’t even agree on what’s right and what’s wrong. Veganism should be about reducing suffering, not thinking you’re superior to everybody else.I do my best, for both my cats and to live as vegan as possible. I don’t try to be perfect. I did at the start and my mental health suffered drastically. There is a lot of guilt comes with it if you label yourself 100% vegan and you then buy cat food. If more people did 90% better the suffering in the world would reduce dramatically. So, I don’t know if you should own a cat as a strict vegan. But turning their lives upside down and sending them to a shelter just because I chose to ditch dairy doesn’t feel like a great choice either. I think you have to do your best, and stop trying to follow a vegan rule book that doesn’t exist.
