Is It Legal For A Company Not To Hire Me Because I

Is it legal for a company not to hire someone because they have high blood pressure?

Is it legal for a company not to hire someone because they have high blood pressure. A friend went for a physical for a job offer, including blood and urine testing - but the doctor told him that they would not sign off on the physical and he would not be hired because he had high blood pressure.

Is it illegal to not hire someone because they are bigoted?

Protected class  Personal views are not a protected class, so you could legally discriminate against them for any reason not explicitly protected.Note that the Wikipedia list is for the US federal government.  Some states have a more restrictive list, and the list will differ by country. Also note that just because something is legal doesn't mean you won't be in trouble for it. If you were to discriminate against someone for being a bigot, they could claim that you discriminated against them for their religion, and it wasn't their personal bigotry you had a problem with, but their religious views.  Since you openly admit bigotry against bigots, you'd likely lose.

Is it illegal to not hire someone because of their tattoos?

Think about it from the business owner's perspective.  If I ran a cool, artsy little store in downtown Seattle, I'd be fine with whoever applied having tattoos.  If I were the owner of a Christian book store...I might not want to hire someone that looks like that Barker guy from Blink 182.I am tattooed, educated, and employed.  If I'm going to be in a situation where I desperately want to avoid having my tattoos be a focus of glances or conversation because I need my education and my need to be employed as the focus...I will cover them up.  At some point, I will ask about the policy on tattoos, but I will never feel entitled to have them visible.

Can I sue a company for not hiring men?

Nope. US labor law determined if you run a business that specifically requires a specific sex of worker (VS and Hooters) come to mind, and you can demonstrate that your business will be hurt by hiring members of the opposite sex, you can be exempted.

Sorry; specific legal term is esoteric and i don't have it written down

Found it. Interesting concept

In employment discrimination law in the United States, employers are generally allowed to consider characteristics that would otherwise be discriminatory if they are bona fide occupational qualifications (BFOQ). For example, a manufacturer of men's clothing may lawfully advertise for male models. Hooters has argued a BFOQ defense, which applies when the “essence of the business operation would be undermined if the business eliminated its discriminatory policy”.[18]

Can an Adventist hospital legally not hire me because I am an atheist? Can they ask me about my beliefs?

Just curious. I want to apply for a job at the local Adventist hospital, but the job application is asking fairly personal questions about my views on their religious practices. I don't know how to answer them without revealing my own lack of faith in a God. I am respectful of their beliefs. I would have no problem working in such an environment, but I'm not going to pretend I'm religious when I am not. Will this hurt my chances at a position with this company? Can they legally refuse me a position because I do not share their religious beliefs?

Examples:

"Our healthcare mission is to share God's love by providing physical, mental and spiritual healing. Please give two examples of how you would help accomplish our mission if you are selected to work here."

"Some of our employees choose to have prayer with patients or other employees. This is a practice that is supported by our company. How do you feel about employees having prayer with patients and fellow employees?"

"Many meetings begin with a spiritual thought or prayer. How do you feel about attending meetings where that would occur?"

Can you sue a potential employer for not hiring you because they didn't like your resume?

All of the jobs I have applied for have DISCRIMINATED against me based on my resume. They always send me the e-mail saying "...you're not what we want Thank you...", but really I think they are just being racist because of my name and I don't have the school or experience that they are looking for -- they keep profiling looking for the best match instead of taking a match without bias! Where can I find an attorney to sue these racists? I need them to be free, but the lawyer can have 10% of my winnings. The company is really rich so the payoff should be at least $100 million.
What can I due to get this sue on the road?

Is it legal for my boss to hire his girlfriend?

There is probably not much you can do.

Honestly, if I were you- stay on her good side, so that you know you are protected...lol. Let her keep spilling the information to you. Be her "friend," do your job, and go home. This should keep you out of the politics.
