Is It Mind Over Matter When You Drink Alcohol

Is it mind over matter when you drink alcohol?

i used to drink wine sometimes as a kid and i never felt anything. now i'm 22 and a glass of wine gets me buzzed. i always assumed you had to drink a ton to feel anything and sometimes i knocked back spiked drinks and champagne at parties as a teenager and didn't feel anything. is it because i wasn't expecting to feel buzzed?

How do I stop drinking alcohol every night?

TBH… you have to want to give it up…. I know that sounds stupid, but it’s true. You really really really have to want to give it up. Until recently I’ve been drinking alcohol for over 30 years and I had a drink pretty much every single day from either a bottle of wine to at my best (or worst) session where I drank 27pints of beer in one day…When I turned 48, I realised that I really wasn’t enjoying the alcohol anymore, I was literally going through the motions and not getting anything from it, I also realised how much money I had spent over the years, literally flushing my money down the drain. (I think I worked it out to the cost of a Lamborghini!) But I think one of the major factors was that one of my friends passed away who was only 1 month younger than me. It wasn’t directly linked to alcohol, but it made me think on how precious life is and how short a time we are all on this planet for. Therefore I decided enough was enough and I bought a book on giving up alcohol by a chap called Allen Carr. It literally turned the switch off in my head overnight. I no longer think or crave alcohol. This is the book that changed my attitude to alcohol. It worked for me because I was already in the right head space to actually want to give up. Until you reach that point I personally think it’s very very difficult to get out of that addictive cycle.Oh, and just FYI I haven’t had a single drink for 14months and in all honesty I haven’t even thought about it or been tempted!!!

Is meditation better than drinking alcohol?

I am teaching meditation on weekends in Bristol. Yesterday night when I was at one pub where Brazilian band was playing, I was introduced by one Irani friend to some British friends - this British guy is a PHD student. This Irani friend came to my meditation classes and he told to his friend, ‘I go to Chit’s classes of meditation..’. On this Sam (British guy) asked me, ‘ I am curious how meditation helps? And does this really helps or just a gossip?’I explained him in simple terms that it helps to become good observant, focused and creative. It helps to become active than reactive and helps us to be calm and peaceful and then we get better ideas. On this he mentioned, ‘When i drink two-three pints i get more creative ideas. When i get drunk i see world in different ways and sometimes it helps to write very well. In English culture we love drinking and this helped some people to come up with best creative ideas..’I replied him, ‘I won’t deny that when you get drunk your mind goes through some intellectual process and in few rare circumstances you start observing world in different ways. Same thing happens when some people take drugs and in LATAM countries there is tradition among Shamans where they use drugs to go through spiritual experiences.’‘But most of the time we do stupid things when we are drunk or drugged. That’s why there are rules and regulations against drink-and-drive. But there is no rule that says that after meditation you should not drive. There is a hangover post drink and post meditation, but the hangover of meditation never harms your liver, brain, health, and keeps you in control of your mind and body. And while doing meditation you don’t need help of any external drink/drug to get creative ideas or to become focused in life.’Post hangover that’s how we look:Albert Einstein and Steve Jobs are two famous names who have spoken openly in support of meditation and how it helped them to be more focused and creative in life. After this he replied, ‘I may visit one day to your class..’

Does drinking alcohol damage the brain?

You’ve heard the hype. Drinking kills brain cells. Can’t remember how to calculate the circumference of a soda can? Blame it on that “one more glass” of chardonnay you had with dinner last night. And, thanks to that wild night in Tijuana at your friend’s bachelor party, you won’t be able to help your daughter pass Algebra. Not (necessarily) true.  Alcohol does not kill brain cells. But, that’s not to say alcohol has no detrimental effect on the brain whatsoever. The brain is without doubt the most complex organ known to science, and one of the most delicate. To say that alcohol has no impact on such a sensitive instrument would reenergize the brain cell death debate, to say the least.Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, which is brought on by a thiamine (vitamin B1) deficiency often attributed to alcoholism, can cause serious damage to the brain, particularly in the area of memory. Loss of motor coordination and hallucinations are also symptoms, and are a result of a lack of thiamine. This is obviously a very critical condition, and not a threat to the moderate, responsible drinker. But, it can serve as a cautionary tale, and a reminder of the sensitivity of the tangle of gray matter that makes us matter. Think of your brain as a well-used, but very nice car. Just because it has airbags, that doesn’t mean it’s okay to crash it every weekend.

Why did I start gagging everytime I drink alcohol?

dude im a regular drinker and thats happened to me a couple of times. its totally normal for that to happen after a puke incident just give it time and youll get over it. try sticking to beer for a couple nights out and ease your way back in with softer shots like china whites before jumping right back into the tequila shots or w/e you like straight.

Can I drink milk after 4 hours of drinking alcohol?

No, you never want to drink milk four hours after drinking any kind of alcohol. The calcium in the milk fuses together with the ethyl alcohol molecules to produce diethylcalcitrate which is actually a radioactive combination that is known to cause massive malignant tumor growth within the digestive tract, especially in the lower colon and rectum. Within a few weeks you won’t be able to pass a stool due to the excessively fast tumor growth and will be in severe pain. Not long after, you will lose motor control of your legs and spleen. But if you catch it in time, and if you’re lucky, you’ll just have to deal with a colostomy bag for the rest of your life.Come on, now…is milk and alcohol bad to drink together? Does this really have to be a question? Here’s a better question: “Is it safe to fart while taking a shit when I’m at home, alone?” or “If I hold in my farts, will I explode?”Milk, taken hours after consuming alcohol, will not kill you.

What methods have helped you stop drinking alcohol?

I was a heavy drinker for over 30 years. The day my wife left me she said I was an alcoholic. Even though she left, I still quit.I decided to quit “cold turkey.” I told a friend of my plan. He said I should start eating jelly beans. Every time I wanted a drink, eat jelly beans. The first few days after I stopped drinking were hard. I grabbed a handful of jelly beans every time I wanted a drink. My face looked like a chipmunk or a squirrel with a mouth full of nuts.Gradually my taste for alcohol went away. Experts think I am more compulsive than a true alcoholic. All I can say is I drank morning, noon, and night.I gained over 100lbs and learned the proper way to loose weight. I lost every pound I gained. I still have a sweet tooth but am able to control it.I think about all the times I drove drunk. I could have killed myself or someone else. I never received one DWI. I should have received 100. I remember the blackouts. I remember having no memory how I drove home. I remember my sons finding me in the driveway hanging out of my door. I remember going to the bathroom next to my bed, thinking I was in the bathroom. I remember the look of disgust on my wife’s face. I am still ashamed of myself. If you think you have an alcohol problem, you do. If you drink like I did, you can’t drink moderately.I go to bars all the time with friends, I always say, “ I’ll have your best 7-up.”I have no desire to drink. I quit 20 years ago and I’ll die sober. This is MY way of quitting drinking. There are many ways to stop. Do what’s best for you. Stopping drinking is what’s important.

How to drink after having alcohol poisoning?

I got alcohol poisoning almost a year ago, before that I used to drink like it was nothing, I never got sick or had any problems throwing back shots. But ever since I got alcohol poisoning any time I smell alcohol I feel like Im going to throw up. Ive been tipsy a couple times since its happened. But everytime I try to drink I feel like my body is rejecting it because I get the urge to get sick after one shot. I want to drink again in moderation but how can I if I just get the urge to puke everytime I drink something? Help?

As a spiritually awakened person, do you drink alcohol and eat meat? Should we stop this to awaken our spirituality?

Uptil May 2018, I was an occasional drinker. Nothing happened, so what made me stop? If it's not broken, why fix it?Let me start by saying that my Spiritual Awakening happened a lot before this. April 2017, to be more specific. So here's the story. First, reading about the Buddha's five basic precepts, I realized that if an Enlightened person has emphasized that just five key practices that can transform life, and one practice asks to not consume alcohol, then really, alcohol must have a bad influence on the journey to Self. Hmmm…Then, I kept seeing recurring signs from Goddess Kali. She's considered to be the consumer of all of man's lusts - alcohol, drugs, non-vegetarian food, etc. That's why, such things are offered to her idol at the alter. Her message was clear "leave alcohol and I will always be beside you".But finally, the nail really hit on the coffin when I realized, alcohol actually slows your physical body down. It hits you right in the nerves!I saw Sadhguru, mystical and intoxicated with life. And realized, he has something that alcohol only gives us for a few hours, without the hangover! If that's possible, why can't I have it too?And thus, began my conviction to elate my body and mind without the consumption of an external substance.Has it worked? I would like to think so, yes. Even though I was never an alcoholic, I do realize that the past months of my life have been my strongest yet.The same thought process was wait put me away from eggs. It wasn't just the thought. But as I went deeper into my Spiritual journey, I also started noticing that my body craved more healthy, raw foods and literally puked out processed stuff or things like meat and dairy. I am now a vegan. This is a sentence I did not imagine I'd say even a year ago.And no, I'm not against drinking. I'd probably indulge on my bachelorette party! But I've come to an inner knowing that doesn't require drinking to experience my Self. And that knowing has won over the temptation to drink. :)
