Is It Normal For A Tongue Piercing To Hurt On The Inside

Got my tongue pierced and now my throat and ears hurt is this normal?

It is normal for throat to hurt because mine did.but...I don't remember my ear hurting though..
Some people find their first week very painful to the point where sleeping is difficult, but most people experience very little pain from tongue piercing. It depends on the person i'd talk to the person who pierced your tongue or your doctor for anything that concerns you.

tongue piercing typically causes:
* pain * inflammation * infection * greater saliva production

*Consult with your physician or piercer and do not remove the jewelry until you seek advice. the last thing you want to do is remove the tongue jewelry. If your tongue ring piercing actually is infected, and you remove the piercing jewerly, the bacteria and puss can get locked inside if the hole closes up. The solution to healing an infection is removing it - you need to keep the pierce open in order to allow the infection to drain. Infection can lead to other serious problems, so you should see your piercer or doctor to get recommendations on how to handle it.*

Hard around my tongue piercing, is it normal?

So I got my tongue pierced just a couple days ago. Around the piercing it is really really hard? I've read that it could just be skin tissue, but if you have gotten yours done did this happen? Besides that it doesn't hurt and is healing quite nicely. Could it be im using mouthwash too much (i've been going overboard with it cause i'm scared of infection). Thanks ahead :]

Is it normal for your ear to hurt after a tongue piercing?

It could be the nerves, like when you scratch the inside of your ear and your back itches or somthing because if the nerves connected but if its insanely painful take some painkillers and get it looked at. And sometimes some people's body's will reject a certain piercing which will cause a swollen area

Being sick and having a tongue piercing?

A piercing is quite a clever little hole in your body so I hope you don't mind if I take a while to explain why getting an infection in a healed piercing wouldn't happen.

A piercing is not a normal wound and it is not the hole the needle makes that 'makes' the piercing but the jewellery as the jewellery stops your body from closing up over the hole like it normally would.

Since it can't close the hole your body tries to get rid of the jewellery (in the same way it would push out a splinter) but it can't do that either due to the shape of the jewellery and since the jewellery is made from a material thats hypoallergenic and biocompatible and you are cleaning it with sea salt soaks and not harsh chemicals (Also known as saline which is something found naturally inside the body) the jewellery's not actually being too much of a threat so your body takes a different approach.

It decides to let the jewellery stay but your body is a suspicious neighbour and doesn't trust the jewellery to behave so it builds a wall between the jewellery and itself made from thick scar tissue - sealing itself off from any potential hazards.

So your piercing is not an open wound - unless you damage it somehow (as you can cause cuts or tears in the scar tissue tunnel from very bad knocks or poor stretching methods and getting an infection from being ill alone wouldn't happen :P

However getting a piercing done or trying to heal a piercing when you are ill is not generally recommended because your immune system will be low and you may find the piercing has trouble healing!

On a scale of 1-10 how bad did your tongue piercing hurt?

I have three friends with it done and asked them the same question when I considered getting mine (I didn't for financial reasons.) they all said the clamp they put on before the actual piercing hurts more than the piercing itself. Also, you don't have feeling inside your tongue so you only feel pain when it crosses the top and bottom surfaces. You can still feel it move through your tongue, but there's no pain. The worst part is when it swells up for a few days afterwards and you can't eat anything but soup. You'll also have to adjust how you talk and eat. Good luck!

Are swollen lymph nodes normal after a tongue piercing?

I had my tongue pierced yesterday morning. It went fine, I was able to talk and eat thick soup (with a little difficulty) and it didn't appear swollen or sore. By yesterday evening it hurt to talk or swallow, and was a lot more swollen. Today, my throat and neck are sore, I've had a headache and my glands seem swollen - is this normal or does it indicate some kind of infection?

I've been rinsing my mouth with sea salt solution after meals, and only eating things like yogurt and soup, but even that is painful now.

Also a few hours after the piercng I kissed someone - will this have affected it in any way? My piercer didn't mention anything about kissing so I assumed it'd be ok.

How can I stop a new piercing in my tongue rubbing the underside?

Is it hurting or just uncomfortable?
Because obviously, the bar they pierced it with is alot longer than what a normal bar is, so its normal for it to rub against your mouth.
It will be uncomfortable for about 1 to two weeks, depending on how fast your tongue heals, but until than, just use bonjella, mouth wash, and try not to move your tongue around. I know its hard not to play with it, but try try try! Your mouth will thank you for it later.
Enjoy x

How long does it take for a tongue piercing to heal?

It is a lot LESS painful than biting your tongue. It is a little uncomfortable for a couple of days after, but you can still speak and eat normally. It can take 3 –4 weeks to fully heal. It is one of the fastest healing piercings. Swelling generally lasts for the first 10 – 14 days. You should avoid alcohol for at least the first two weeks. Because your tongue is already going to be swollen the inflammatory affects of alcohol can be dangerous.Smoking is allowed, however the more you smoke the slower it will heal, so the more you can cut back the faster you’ll heal. and try to drink lots of water, especially after smoking. It is also wise to avoid wet kissing and oral sex during the healing period. It is an oPen wound in your mouth.
