Is It Normal For My Knee To Be Unstable

Is knee pain in a 20 year old girl normal?

There are several possibilities. One common issue with air travel is DVT - Deep Vein Thrombosis, commonly called blood clots. A blood clot may interfere with circulation and result in pain. Another possible issue is a bone spur or arthritis. It is commonly assumed that you can't have arthritis because of your age. I was diagnosed with arthritis at a younger age than you currently are and had symptoms that were ignored for many years at that time. There are many kinds of arthritis and many of them are not restricted to older people. There are other possibilities, but those are two that I am familiar with because I have both. I am not a doctor and I am not qualified to express an opinion on other possibilities. Whatever is causing your pain needs to have a doctor’s examination to evaluate. Don't ignore pain. Pain is one of your body's only methods of warning you that a problem exists. The problem may be easily remedied or it may be a warning of something much more serious. Early identification of a problem can save your life or prevent the problem from getting worse. So see a doctor as soon as possible.

Is it normal to have cracklings in the knee after an ACL surgery?

I believe it is. The phenomenon is called crepitus, which literally just means “crackling”. I’m about four years post-ACL surgery and I still get it in the affected knee if I do a squat or any kind of really deep knee bend. I also often get a single, loud crack if I've been lying down for a while and then completely straighten out my leg.My orthopedic surgeon claims that as long as it isn't associated with any pain or inflammation that it's normal, but if those start to happen (and you're more than about 7 months post-surgery) that you should have it looked at.

Why do i feel unstable after sex?

When you orgasm, your body produces endorphins, which make you feel good.

These endorphins are very similar to narcotics. You get the rush of pleasure and the weak shaky feeling from both.

Is it normal for my knee to buckle after ACL Revision Surgery?

I'm a 16 year old female.

Earlier this year I found out I had retorn my ACL. Last time they replaced it with an allograft but this time around for surgery they decided on using one of my hamstrings. In June the surgery went underway and I was also discovered to have a small meniscus tear. I was put in a full-extension brace for 6 weeks and just was able to take it off last weekend. I am now practicing walking since I've kinda forgotten to in a way.

But I have noticed since this my knee has been buckling at times when I walk a lot. I am extremely worried that I might've retorn this one! But then again it might be due to my leg still being weak.
Opinions?

Severe knee pain after wrong step?

The symptom of a knee giving out is most often due to a ligament injury. I can't be sure of what it might be but here is some info:
ACL tear symptoms: some people tear their ACL while doing simple movements like walking or getting into a car. Swelling occurs rapidly within 24 hours of injury. Usually surgery is required. Difficulty extending and bending knee. The knee is unstable.
MCL tear: Difficulty bending knee. The knee is unstable. You may have pain, swelling (occurs 1-2 days after), and tenderness along the inner side of your knee. You may notice some bruising.
Meniscus tear symptoms: Swelling (takes a few hours to develop), popping, and giving way. Pain occurs with bending or extension. Sometimes the knee locks.
LCL tear: pain, stiffness, swelling and tenderness along the outside part of the knee, locking, numbness in the foot, knee gives way.
The fact that you say that it is unstable but there is no swelling, is a bit strange. Instability occurs in ligament tears. Make sure you PRICE your knee as much as possible (protect it by getting a brace, rest it, ice it, compress it, and elevate it.) Keep an eye on it, give it some time to heal, and take it easy! Good luck!

Knee injury in Dance?

I think that with that many styles of dance you probably do a lot of dancing, right? With a lot of dancing it puts a lot of stress on our bodies so when we do get hurt, we dancers just go back to business like normal. I think that you should take it easy in dance, tell your dance teachers that your knee is sore, and just dance less full out than you would do normally. Then if it still hurts after taking it easier, talk to a doctor.

Why my knee is clicking after 5 months of ACL reconstruction?

There are many reasons why this could be happening :There is a bucket handle meniscal tearThere is a discoid meniscusThe position of acl is not accurateThere is a cyclops lesion (nodule formation) in the aclThere is Patellofemoral arthritis (wear and tear of the backside of the Knee cap)This list is not all inclusive. Anyways, a clinical examination by a Sports Surgeon and, if required, an MRI will be able to diagnosis your problem.Take care,Dr Saseendar

Knee pain, shooting pain up my leg?

You may have sprained your knee. If it's under the kneecap or feels like it, it's probably muscle or tendon related. Ice it, go to a drugstore and get one of those ace knee brace bandages, and try not to put much strain on your knees for a few days.

Why is my knee buckling 2 months after an ACL reconstruction?

I don't have experience with an ACL reconstruction surgery but several other knee surgeries. Most were either total knee replacements and two bilateral total knee replacement revisions. I too experienced situations where my knee(s) would buckle. Many times I simply was standing and the next thing I knew I was preventing myself from hitting the floor. Time, physical therapy, and strengthening the joint was essentially my solution. With a knee replacement there aren't too many areas left untouched during surgery. Just the tendons and muscles contribute to the weakness post many surgeries. For myself, I experienced the buckling pre surgery too because of the poor condition the joint was in.I apologize for the lack of an exact scientific explanation but tried to explain my personal experience with this. If this is occurring often and or for extended periods of time I would strongly suggest speaking with your surgeon about this. If you're still having physical therapy then the therapist may be able to answer your question too. Good luck!

How is the knee joint poorly protected and thus especially vulnerable to injuries?

The knee is particularly unstable because it bears so much weight with relatively little support.

Think about the structure of the joint. The very large femur sits precariously atop the significantly smaller tibia. The two bones slide back and forth on each other, even in non-stressful conditions.

A hard knock to the knee can easily take advantage of this weakness and cause injury, whereas a similar blow to the shoulder or hip will cause little, if any damage.

Fortunately the instability of the knee's bony structure is partially compensated for by strong ligaments and muscles. However, these ligaments are very prone to injury themselves when they are pushed beyond their limits.
