Is It Normal For Weight To Fluctuate Throughout The Year

How does body weight fluctuate throughout the day?

I'm trying to lose weight in a healthy way (diet and exercise) and I'd like to be able to weigh myself and see more or less what I really weigh and how it compares to my ideal weight and what I have been weighing. However, I've been finding that my weight varies by sometimes as much as two to three pounds depending on when during the day I weigh myself. Is there a standard amount that weight fluctuates during the day, times when you weigh the most, when you weigh the least, etc? An average or a formula or something along those lines?

How much does your weight fluctuate throughout the day?

People's weight can fluctuate anything from 2 - 8lbs depending on fluid and food intake, fluid retention due to hormonal changes or illness.
Unless you are a boxer who needs to reach a fighting weight (or a jockey) there is no reason to weigh yourself more than once a day. In fact once a week is quite sufficient. Losing or gaining weight quickly is not healthy. Nor is obsessing about it.

How much will my weight fluctuate throughout the day?

it really depends on the size of the person and how hydrated they keep themselves but 4-5 lbs is definetly in a "normal" range. if you are on a weigh reduction diet you only need to weigh yourself once a week and at the same time of day, doesn't matter if it's day or night.

Is it normal for weight to fluctuate? I’m 19 years old, I used to weigh roughly 150 pounds. I noticed 2 weeks ago that I weighed 143 pounds, and now I weigh 141. Nothing has changed in my diet or lifestyle, so is this to be concerning or is it okay?

Weight fluctuations are normal but yours appears to be on a downward trajectory, which might be concerning. I am 19 and 5′11″ and my weight fluctuates between 155 to 160 pounds. Usually I can reflect back and figure out why the change occurred. But it is up and down, not lower and lower. Losing 9 pounds is kind of noticeable when you are starting at 150 lb. Perhaps you are under stress, which can result in weight loss, or there is some subtle change you are overlooking. 2 pounds in 2 weeks is a modest change, but it would help to know when you weighed 150 lb. At 19 you really should be maintaining or slightly increasing your weight as males tend to be increasing their muscle mass at this phase in their life. It might be reassuring to get checked out by a Doctor.

How much does your weight fluctuate throughout one day?

Bought a scale since I am working on losing weight and was surprised at home much my weight changes throughout 1 day. Generally I weigh 5-7 lbs more at night than in the morning. My weight gradually increases throughout the day, after each meal or drink.

I'm wondering if this is as extreme for everyone or just me?

I have an adrenal disorder which causes my blood to misuse sodium and pottasium. I am having very invasive tests and probably surgery. I'm thinking that might make a difference too.

So just out of curiosity's sake, how much does your weight change throughout 1 day?

My weight fluctuates A LOT. Is this normal?

I've noticed recently that my weight has been fluctuating as much as 10 pounds in a single day. The scale reads anywhere from 215-225 pounds. One day, I even started at 220 pounds, went down to 215 later in the day, and was up to 225 by the time I went to bed. I just don't understand it. Is this normal? Is it just my scale? It is making it difficult to determine my weight-loss progress, when it is changing by such a huge amount. Thanks for any input or information on the topic!

Is it normal that my weight fluctuates 20 pounds... ?

You said you do eat decently, but I don't think it's normal for somebody to have a fluctuation of weight by that amount. You'd better check/ask your doctor, because it might be a sign of any underlying disorder, could be hormonal (how old are you by the way), or it could be a sign of diabetes. Early stage of diabetes does not show any debilitating symptom, and yours could be a sign.

My weight does fluctuate too, but not that much, only around + or - 3 lbs per month. I once gained 10-20 lbs in a month, but that was because I am eating too much.

Why does my weight fluctuate so much throughout the day?

I guess everyone is different, I am 1 kilo heavier by night time.
Two kilos seems a lot to me, maybe you had quite a bit of salt so holding extra fluid or extra carbs today. Or might just be normal for you.

Why does my weight fluctuate by 1 STONE morning and throughout the day?

Your body does naturally fluctuate in weight during the day.The reasons for this are mostly around how much food and water is in your body.Your weight is usually lowest first thing in the morning, and heaviest after a large meal.Salt content of food can increase water retention. If you have a period, you may find your weight increase then too.Ideally you should only weigh yourself, at most, once a week. Try to keep it the same time of day (early morning is usually preferred).
