Is It Normal If A Shih Poo Dog Have Blue Eyes

How often should a Shih Tzu poop in a day?

We just started him on Nature's Variety dog food, which is a raw food diet. It is top of the line, above Innova which is one of the top kibbel organic type diets. He has had problems with constipation in the past and am wondering if we should just give him time to transition or bring him into the vet.

Walleyed Shih Tzu?

No, it is not normal in a well-bred ShihTzu.

Wall-eyed Shih-Tzus are the result of trying to make them too small too fast. It is a DEFECT and not only are pups like that unlikely to grow out of it, they are prone to have other problems as well, such as epilepsy and water on the brain (hydrocephalus).

It sounds like there has been some irresponsible breeding going on and I am sorry to hear it. I hope the pup is not too sick.

"For example, if you've seen "miniature" Shih Tzu, you may have noticed that they are often wall-eyed. The reduction in head size occurred faster than the reduction in eye size, thereby moving the eyes around to the sides of the head. This is not a problem for the survival of a pet, but other, less visible problems are. Dogs bred for small size often have nervous system difficulties such as epilepsy. Ask your vet. She will certainly have a horror list of internal defects resulting from miniaturization."

"This is what we call WALLEYED and they are prone to injury. This also can mean they are HYDROCEPHALIC! "

Why do some shih tzu have pink and black noses?

Poor breeding leads to poor quality dogs like Shih Tzus with pink noses. It doesn't effect a pet unless it is in the sun then pink noses are prone to cancer but a Shih Tzu with a pink nose should never be bred. Pigmentation - Nose, lips, eye rims are black on all colors, except liver on liver pigmented dogs and blue on blue pigmented dogs. Fault: Pink on nose, lips, or eye rims

Is it normal for a Shih Poo dog to have blue eyes?

It's a mutt so there is no set standard but neither shih tzus or poodles are supposed to have blue eyes, so I would be suspicious if the "breeder" is telling you it's this mix. That being said, if you're getting a mutt does it really matter what the mix is? Your local shelters have hundreds of them. Surely there is one there that suits you?

What does it mean if your dog's gums turn black?

Do a capillary refill test by pressing on the gums with your finger. When you remove your finger, the gums should briefly be white but should return to their pink color within two seconds. The appearance of the gums is very informative. If the gums are blue, the dog lacks oxygen. If they are white, the dog has lost blood, either internally or externally. If the gums are purple or gray and there is a slow capillary refill, the dog is probably in shock. If they are bright red, she may be fighting a systemic infection or may have been exposed to a toxin. Some dogs have black-pigmented gums, which can make assessment difficult. For these dogs, you need to examine the pink tissue on the inside of the lower eyelid by gently pulling the eyelid down. In this case, you can only observe the color of the tissue — you can’t perform the capillary refill test — but colors mean the same thing in gums and inner eyelids.

Tail-docking on a Shih Tzu?

I was just a little puzzled as I went to a shelter to adopt a Shih Tzu that was available, after I had to have mine put down a while ago. When I saw this little 11 month old male Shis Tzu, I immediatly fell in love with the little guy, but there was one strange thing....I noticed that his tail had been docked! I mean this wasn't a problem for me, but I've never seen it done on a Shih Tzu before. I've seen it on other breeds (Boxers, Pit Bulls, Dobies, Old English Sheep Dogs, etc. Can anyone tell me if this a common practice, and what is the purpose of it?

My 10 pound shih tzu just ate a milk chocolate hershey's kiss?

That small amount of chocolate won't likely hurt her, especially milk chocolate instead of dark. I'd just keep an eye on her to see if she starts acting strange. If you're really concerned, consult your vet.

Why does my dog have one eye bigger than the other?

the actual eye — or the pupil —- there can be a variance between the size ot hte eyes but it shouldn’t be more than about 10 % —- if there is a marked difference then one eye could be getting smaller — micropthalmia or it could be increasing in size — macropthalmia —— there are different causes for both but it needs to be diagnosed properly —- if the eye is painful at all or sensitive to light you need to have him seen as soon as possible

What should I do if my dog is throwing up yellow/white liquid/foam?

This is normally just a bit of stomach acid and it's ok for them to vomit this up, the problem is why they're doing it.One of my two dogs sometimes does this after eating grass, in which case I ignore it. Recently she ate the cap of a water bottle, some of the plastic got stuck, and trying to retch it out some of this foam came out. She also once ate the stuffing from a dog toy and did vomited this about 6 times, and then I was worried, but it was over pretty soon and she was fine. She sometimes also eats fox shit, and then throws it up, and keeps vomiting until there's nothing left except this foam. You can guess that the other dog is my favourite one!If they are sick once or twice and there's not much in it I wouldn't worry, especially if you know the likely cause like one of the above examples. Keep and eye on them and make sure they have some water. If their stomach is sensitive then maybe give them some bland food for the next meal (e.g. scrambled eggs). If they don't have much of an appetite when you next feed them, or if they're lethargic, or if they keep on vomiting, take them to the vet immediately.Better safe than sorry!

I bought a Sheltie-Poo and she has an Over bite, is this a problem?

So, I bought a Sheltie-Poo, yesterday. She has an over bite, I didn't really notice it until I brought her home, but it's okay, I love her any way. xD
I was just wondering if it will be a problem in the future? ( She's four months old. ) I heard that some vets will suggest pulling a few teeth, but I don't really want her to go through any unnecessary surgeries. Unless the over bite would cause harm to her health as she grows older, or cause any kind of pain.

Another thing, she has a blue eye, and a brown eye. Can anyone tell me what causes this? And, if she could be blind in one eye.
I honestly doubt she is, but just to quench my curiosity would be nice.
