Is this considered child abuse in the state of Maine?
The short answer is no--technically there's no physical abuse if no mark was left on the child and no instrument, such as a belt, was used. The longer answer is that you should be able to get Maine CPS to go out and check on the child. Call and tell there that there were prior abuse reports on this child in such-and-such state. Then tell them that you're concerned for the child because you know that the child is still being struck by this person and the child has emotional issues due to his/her abuse issues. If you are factual, calm, credible, and are able to describe events that you have seen yourself, there is a very high likelihood that Maine CPS will send someone to investigate. In the event that the investigation is closed as unsubstantiated and the child continues in a bad situation, please call CPS again. I'm aware of several situations where it takes multiple phone calls to get CPS to act. Good luck.
My parents threaten to kick me out?
So recently my parents have been stalking my twitter and Facebook and found out I went to a few parties over the summer and took away my car (that I paid for on my own). ever since they took away my car I've been acting a little psychotic to piss them off and they've been repeatedly telling me they were going to take all of my things and put them outside and kick me out. if they were to do so could I legally call child services on them and press charges of any sort? what other things could I do? I don't think it's legal to kick out your child if they are under 18, and I'm 17
If i check myself into mental hospital can they take my child away.?
i have been suffering from horrible depression for weeks now. My marriage is falling apart by job is falling apart and I feel like my world is caving in on me. I have a 2 year old daughter. I would NEVER EVER HURT her. No matter what a bad mother i feel like I am everyone keeps saying that i am a good mom. She is all I have. She is the only reason I keep getting up in the morning. She is the only one who can make me smile. I have been thinking about suicide but I dont have the guts to do it. I wanna go to the hospital because I have those thoughts and because I wanna get help ASAP. It could take months for me to get in with a psychiatrist as there is only one here. And I feel crazy. I feel like I am having a nervous breakdown. I think I might even be mildly bipolar. Bu I am terrified that they will take my child away if I go. That my husband can take her away or my family or CFS. I just wanna get help but I can't risk losing my child. not only that I would lose my job and we need it. Unfortunately its temporary and will most likely end before may or June. But she needs me I am her babysitter. And they would have to call in sick if I am not there. and if I am gone for a week they will find someone else I am sure. i I have no clue what to do. i am in canada if that helps.
If a child kills someone do the parents go to jail with the child?
TP No, your parents don't go to jail for your crime. BUT they can be fined, lose their home, be sued for your actions as a juvenile. For example if you start a fire, they can be held liable for the damages. If you steal a car and get in an accident ditto. If you give your car to a friend, you may not go to jail, but you can bet that they will come looking to you for damages, costs, and possible personal liability caused by your car. Those are expenses that your insurance may not be covered by. Moral of the story; Don't loan your car to a murderer...... Or, just don't loan your car thinking that there is no 'risk'.
