Is It Normal To Be Shivering Under 2 Thick Blankets

What does it mean if you wake up shivering?

It means you are either too cold , had a full bladder or just had a bad nightmare. Our body temperatures drop as we fall asleep, so try not to use fans or air conditioning at a high level when sleeping. Dont drink too much water before sleeping, if u want to avoid a full bladder. Nightmares if keep recurring could be steaming from psychology, u need a psychologist help to get over it.

My dog is shivering! what should i do?

my dad bought my little dog these peanut butter ice cream for dogs, called frosty paws. she's SHIVERING. last night she had it but she didnt get all cold and weird. and i cant take it away from her or she'll get mad [she wont bite, but she'll just act all upset]. what should i do? she's about 20lb, and 3 1/2 years, and a toy fox terrier affin pincher mix, if that helps anything.

Would covering myself in blanket to raise my internal body temperature when having a fever be a good idea?

Our (all mammals’) immune systems are unbelievably sophisticated. There are two parts to it: the ancient part, the “innate” which responds to new pathogens, and the “adaptive” part which remembers ones it has already responded to or been passed from our mothers. I find it amazing that the immune system knows how high a fever has to be to kill a certain pathogen. There can be no other reason why fevers vary in temperature. If you add a blanket, you will lose less heat thru your skin. If that causes you to sweat, you will know your body is too hot and wants to lose heat, so pay attention. It’s hard not to, just like it’s hard not to drink when we’re thirsty; it nearly impossible. Sweating requires energy your body needs to fight the pathogen, so it is unlikely that adding a blanket helps, unless you have “chills”, which sometimes occur when fighting an invader. Sweating also causes loss of electrolytes that need to be replaced, using more energy. Relax; try to stay comfortable and don’t try to out-think your body. After a couple of billion years, the immune system we get knows what it’s doing.

My kitten is shivering?

Keep him warm as best as you can. Some warm towels from the drier or a heating pad should do the trick. Make sure he is getting plenty to eat and drink. If he is refusing to eat you could always tempt him with some canned food and canned tuna. When my cats get sick I always give them as much tuna juice as they want. You can always tell when they feel better because they will start eating the tuna as well as the juice. Just make sure he gets plenty of liquids. You could also purchase some kitten formula for him. He may drink that when he won't drink anything else. But don't give him cow's milk because contrary to popular belief, cats are lactose intolerant and cow's milk will only make him sicker. If he isn't doing any better by tomorrow you will have to take him to the vet. It sounds like he has a cold and will need some antibiotics. Good luck!

Uncontrolable Shivering ( Teeth Chattering ) at Night?

I've been having this for years. Out of the blue at nights, I can shiver for minutes,my teeth chattering, my bones hurt cos I have to fight with the cold. Esp.when I wake up in the middle of the night,go to the bathroom. Seems like the air goes through my skin will make me shiver easily.
My Mom has the same thing, too.I witnessed her shivered one day,and we're busy making her warm, thick blankets, filled some bottles with hot water. Now I have it, and just now, I heard my youngest sister is having it. She can't stand it, she's on the way home to my parents house now,so my Mom can take cake of her.

Don't tell me it's cold of flu. None of us were sick when we experience this weird thing. My Mom is 64, I'm 33, my sister is 26 yo. My mom and I have been having this for years now.

So, winter is the worst season for me whose got this kind of problem. I even can shiver easily when I walk out from home to the car,as long as the wind blows and I feel it's cold.

Anybody knows what is it called? I am so desperate to know what causes it. Thank you

While sleeping, I want to fully cover myself under a blanket and at the same time I want fresh air too. What should I do?

Answer after added Question details:A "Mummy" sleeping bag is a good idea. It will allow you to be completely covered. But keeps the face clear to breathe etc. Its what I did as a student when we didn't have heating. Also wearing shorts and a tshirt in the sleeping bag will help. Get a feel for how cold the room will be at night. Then get a sleeping bag that will suit this. As a winter sleeping bag will cause you to over heat, but a summer 1 may not keep you warm enough.  Old Answer:We need more info. Why do you want/need to achieve each of these things? Then we can work on a solution.Prithvi Chatterjee's answer is quite good for the short term...

Problem with horse blankets?

I have been a barn manager for 10 years, so I've seen a lot of blankets. Unfortunately most "waterproof" blankets turn out to be "water repellant" at best. One of my boarders bought a new turnout sheet from a well respected brand which was guaranteed waterproof, and the first rainshower we had the horse was completely soaked. It wasn't even just one spot like your blanket. It was all the way through the entire fabric. Any place where there is stitching through the outer material can be a weak spot for water to soak through, like seams or where rings and hardware are attached.

If you want a really truly waterPROOF blanket you should buy a Rambo. The have no center seam and no D-rings or anything else to allow water to get through. They are also much more expensive than $135. But of all the different blanket brands in the barn, these are the only ones I 100% trust to keep the horses dry. Even the Rambo will lose its waterproofing after a few seasons though unless you re-waterproof it. Unfortunately, you have learned that few things work as well as their advertising claims. What you could do if the company will only let you exchange it for the exact same model is buy a nice Rambo sheet and use it over the top of your blanket in rainy weather. Then you'd have a sheet to use in warmer weather too. I know that's not a great solution, but I doubt a new blanket (of the same model) will work any better for you.

Dog fell into iced pond? Wont stop shivering?

If you bathed him and he's still wet, then yes, dry him! Put the setting on low, don't hold the dryer too close to him and brush and dry at the same time. He'll dry much faster. Do his head and the top of his back first and he'll stop shivering. Poor guy! Don't worry, he should be just fine once he warms up.

I woke up in the middle of the night shivering and COLD!?

Here are tips that help me when I'm fighting a cold, respiratory infection, or flu.....

take a sinus decongestant containing Phenylephrine 5mg. you don't necessarily need all the extras it's often mixed with.
but if you want some extras, here you go: Guaifenisen (Mucinex is the brand name, but it's way cheaper at dollar stores. always read ingredients!!) liquefies your mucus so it's much easier to expel. But you have to drink TONS of water or it won't work, and you must be near a bathroom because it makes you pee a lot.
Ibuprofen is an excellent anti-inflammatory, but it's strong, so alternate it with Acetaminophen as needed for pain, pressure, and headaches.

ESSENTIALS:

stay home. (even one day can make a difference. plus, you'll keep your germs to yourself.)
sleep. (bolsters up your immune system)
drink plenty of water. (8 8oz servings a day=bare minimum!!) (pee out those germs and flush 'em away!!)
take vitamin C, zinc, and echinacea. (also strengthen the immune system)
eat too much garlic. (sorry, but it really is great for your health! and it will give you a good reason to stay home. :) )

avoid milk and chocolate. dairy foods will thicken your mucus and make your fight that much harder.

the meds and garlic are harsh, so don't take them on an empty stomach. i hope you allow yourself some time to feel better soon! take care.

also i just learned a new tip from JOHN POPPER of BLUES TRAVELER: very hot water, cayenne pepper, white vinegar, and honey. GROSS!!! he gargles it and spits up all kinds of nasty crap. might be worth a shot, but don't hurt your vocals! to be safe maybe just do hot water with lemon and honey. that works too, and it's much more pleasant.

COUGHING FITS:
you will benefit most from the mucinex and water. (generic is fine... but don't take any DEXTROMETHORPHAN during the day. take it at night so you can stop coughing and get some rest. during the day, you need to drink a ton of water and break that crap up so it will leave you alone!)
