Is It Normal To Be This Observant

I observe people too much. Is this normal?

I'm not reserved or quiet or anything. I might be a little less chatty than most people, but I think I have pretty normal relationships with mostly everyone.
I'm always having moments where I observe them, though.
Trying to figure them out.
Why they do things, what are they feeling, etc.
I'll be at a party, for example, and everything will me normal, until something they do catches my attention and I just start observing them.
I don't just stare either. Like, if we make eye contact, I'll smile at them and stop looking, but I'll still be sensing them.

I was once at a strip club with some guys I made friends with, and I'm looking at the girl, enjoying the show, having a drink, and suddenly I start focusing more on her expressions and her movement than her actual body.

It always happens at random that I'll "get the mood" to observe people.
I always feel like asking them questions, interrogating them, and they rarely don't answer me.
I've had random strangers cry in front of me on a street simply because I started asking them questions.
I'll do it with family or friends (though not in public).
I don't know why, it's sort of just like a tick.

Is this normal? Do people often do this?
I feel so weird about doing it sometimes.

Are all 2 year olds very observant?

my daughter will be 2 next month, and NOTHING gets by her. She repeats everything, and somethings you wish she would have missed but, she didn't. When my husband was sick his mom was visiting, and he was sleeping au natural, well my little one went in there to go tell him to wake up, and then came out saying 'daddy naked' talk about imbarissing. And when i went in there he was covered up, but she figured it out anyways. She only has to see you do something once and then she's got it. So we have to be very careful about what we do in front of her.

How can I be an observant writer?

Start by observing everything. Try to describe it in words. Even normal things.I find that liking photography helps with this exercise. If you see a tree in a yard, it’s just a tree. Most people don’t look at it twice. But what if you laid flat on the ground and looked upward to a take a photo? It looks different. What if you took a close-up photo of the bark pieces? It would look abstract. It’s taking the “normal” things and learning to interpret and see them out of their “normal” way. Then try to write and describe those things.

Palinopsia or Just Way Over-Observant.?

For months now after going through some anxieties from certain things, I started to become more cautious about visuals I had because I was starting to see unusual things. Since, I seem to have this stronger notice for after-images. I can no longer tell what is considered normal anymore because I focus on them so much. But it has gotten worse ever since I first noticed. Now, in particular, if I simply look at something and look somewhere else, I will see a positive afterimage of whatever I focused on for about a fraction of a second. Just barely long enough for me to notice, but I seem to only notice it when I look for it, at least. I don't see trails or any of the major symptoms of it. But light is a b*tch on occasion. Bright lights like LEDs, Neon signs, or sun light reflections seem to stick around a little longer and require a shorter stimulus.

I got most of the medical tests out of the way except a thorough eye checkup which all came back normal; a test result with mixed feelings. I don't expect a legitament diagnosis of course but maybe a relation to someone else or something. Idk.

Why is my husband so observant... ?

Hello,

My husband and I have been married for about four years. He's 28, and I'm 33.

Anyway, I've never understood why my husband is so observant. To illustrate, he knows whenever I'm wearing something new or changed my hairstyle, and notices if I've bought something for the house the moment he sees it. I love my husband dearly and I don't want to sound like a nag, but I really wonder why he notices everything.

Thoughts?

Thanks for reading this,
Jennifer

What is this called? very observant people who pick up on things before anyone else?

No, because I don't think any person's have this ability. I'll search for you... give me a few minutes.

Edit: Here was one site that I found. He explains he developed these psychological abilities. You were born with them but maybe you can connect with one of the abilities he developed? Here's the site... i'll keep searching for more stuff, okay?

Edit: Found it! You actually have two gifts my friend. Wow.

Sensory overexcitability can range from discomfort with tags on clothing, socks or food textures to noise and smell sensitivity.

Emotional overexcitability can mean extreme sensitivity to the emotions of others, deep empathy, intense reactions to everyday events. May cry easily.

I know it's for gifted children but it can still apply for you too. Scroll down.

What makes some people more observant than others?

I would split this between the natural urges and life experience. That same nature vs nurture argument. Some people are just born with an innate sense for details and a keen and observant eye. They notice little changes in the moods of others, and their mother's new haircut, and their aunt's new piece of jewelry, and a stranger's smile, just to name a few. Some people learn through their experience that noticing little details in others leads to more insight, better questions and empathy (not to mention connection with the other person which can be useful on a personal and/or professional levels). In my case, I was born with it and enhanced this skill through life experience. I am up to the point of being able to read others and knowing almost immediately if they are up to no good (in which case my natural defenses are put up).

Do observant Muslims and Jews who were raised in a predominantly Christian culture feel the same sense of revulsion about eating pork that most Europeans do about eating exotic animals like, say, dogs or monkeys? Is it normal but just avoided?

Did you know that the reason why Anglo-Saxon cultures do not eat horsemeat? It was banned by St Augustine of Canterbury, the one that is credited with converting the English to Christianity? In the convertion so many compromises were made that people could not tell the Christians apart from the remaining pagans, so Augustine said ‘Christiins will not eat horse meat’ and they never have since. So, if you are from the US, Australia, Canada, England, etc. horse meat is to you and your society as pig meat is to Muslims and Jews. Now you understand how they feel and the variation of reaction you and your friends have to being offered horse meat is the same as the variation they have to pigmeat.

I'm observant and I learn alot from my surroundings, I think too much and I analyse everything. How do I stop overthinking and be more normal?

This is your normal and be damn happy you have power of observation. Fewer have it today and even fewer are able to verbalize what they see. Being unobservant is a fault of most people in America because of phones and life pressures. They are this way until they receive their first setback and sometimes that is not enough for them to do an inventory of their world. Being observant allows you to develop a high EQ and make evaluations every boss you have will respect. In fact it is an asset that will assist you your whole life. If in addition to this you have the gift of thinking you are way ahead of the herd and it will always be an asset. Now this being said you have not really observed your environment as well as you should because most people are sleep walking. Do not be eager to join them because half of them have an IQ of less than 100 and a huge number of them like watching the Kardashians. God has given you some wonderful gifts and I realize there are things that are sickening to observe, but you will eventually learn how to filter so it does not even seem like you are over thinking. Enjoy the ride and utilize your gifts. Life will be a good thing for you.
