Is It Normal To Feel Dizzy And Confused After Laying Down Then Standing Up From Taking

Why do I feel dizzy after standing for long time? What can I do to improve my stamina?

When you stand up for a long time, the blood pressure falls and this condition is called postural or orthostatic hypotension. Symptoms of dizziness ,faintness, light-headness,confusion, dim vision all occurs due to this and gets alright when you lie down. Some people fall or faint due to this syndrome. Consumption of alcohol, exercise, dehydration etc increases these symptoms. In some young people too experience these symptoms which is not due to drop in blood pressure but increase in heart beat and this is called postural orthostatic tachycardial syndrome.Treatment is to increase the blood pressure while standing. Medications may help this. I would suggest you to consult a doctor.

Why do I feel dizzy after waking up from sleep?

There are mainly three reason; decrease blood pressure, decrease blood sugar level and problems in your inner ear (involve in balancing your body). All other causes are directly or indirectly related to above mentioned reasons.Blood pressure: When you stand up after sleeping or sitting position there is pull of your blood to your legs and abdomen due to gravity that causes decrease in blood volume in your heart to pump causing a transient decrease in blood pressure causing dizziness and this condition is also known as orthostatic hypotension. Around the heart and blood vessel of the neck, there are special cell (baroreceptors ) which scene the blood pressure level in the body for its correction. When decrease in pressure baroreceptors send signals to centers in our brain, which signals heart to beat faster and pump more blood, and also decrease the diameter of the blood vessel finally maintain the blood pressure. Therefore if the baroreceptor is not working properly that might cause dizziness.Glucose: Bain cell utilize glucose as it main fuel for proper functioning. In extreme condition only it can use energy from fat. If you eat very less diet before sleeping might cause dizziness when wake up due to decrease in glucose level. For more: http://medicalbasic.net/why-do-y...

I’ve both fainted and had a seizure from standing up too quickly, is that normal?

I do the same thing. SAME EXACT THING. I was surprised when I read this as it describes me perfectly. I went to a doctor for this and this is what they told me:POTS: Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. The nurse helping me explained it to me in a simple way. Normally when a person stands up, to compensate for the different orientation, their blood vessels constrict slightly to increase their blood pressure and continue to supply blood to their brain. But in the sense of POTS, your blood vessels do not constrict, but your heart increases its BPM, which is not enough. The lack of blood to the brain causes you to pass out. Similarly to you, I also had a seizure. I was told that this had nothing to do with POTS, but something called Post Traumatic Seizures. In simple terms, when you pass out, your body is confused. In an attempt to see if everything is okay, your body sends signals to your muscles causing them to contract rapidly. Causing what looks like a seizure. What can cause this:Low Blood pressure: Anything below 90/60 can cause symptoms like this.Improper Diet: Low sugar intake, dehydration, or low salt intake can lower your blood pressure causing this as well.I would go see a doctor. This isn’t something as serious as others are making it sound. I have lived with it for almost 2 years now without any medication, and have been fine. I had multiple tests done, EKGs… etc. And everything seemed normal. I just eat more salt and drink more water to compensate. There is a very small chance that something else could be wrong, but I would doubt it. If your blood pressure is consistently low, doctors may prescribe medication to help raise it to safe levels. But don’t worry. This is a relatively, normal thing. If this is your first time passing out, welcome to the party. It isn’t too bad.

Why do I feel dizzy after a deep massage?

Dizzy or wiped-out/lightheaded?There is a difference. Wiped out/lightheaded is a normal response sometimes, depending on alot of factors. BUT:I've done deep tissue massage for, oh, 20 years and dizziness is not a typical symptom. You should not regularly feel dizzy after deep tissue massages. Some reasons why this may happen are:-it is too much on your nervous system. try a more gentle form of bodywork. deeper does not mean better.-your blood sugar was too low or you ate something weird before your session. I've seen this happen. (don't ever receive a deep-tissue massage on an empty or too-full stomach. Some of the circulatory benefits are kind of like doing a lazy work-out and I wouldn't recommend exercising on an empty/stuffed stomach either.)-you are mildly dehydrated. Chug some water (on a regular basis)-are you on any medications that can cause dizziness? this side effect can manifest during a massage (not common, but possible)-somehow you began hyperventilating (which i doubt ;)-if you had a hypertensive neck/fascia, it could have been aggravated if inappropriate force or technique was used. This can cause dizziness/vertigo type symptoms-were you hungover at all? hey, it's happened to the best of us ;)-were you coming down with a flu or something?-there is a neurological/vestibular issue and you should consult the appropriate medical professional ASAP. (please make note how that is ALL CAPS, bold, italics, AND underlined...) Actually, not too long ago I saw a young fellow who complained of dizziness whenever he went face down and I immediately referred him out. I am happy i did because there was in fact due to an issue outside of my scope that needed to be remedied. The whole "toxins" things is a total and complete myth (btw, lactic acid is not a toxin, nor does it cause dizziness.  It is a normal fuel used by the muscles during anaerobic exercise. It is actually kind of good for us). Massage is amazing and fascinating. I love it. It is my profession. It provides a TON of benefits, but squeezing out "toxins" like the juice from an orange is not one of them. Physiology doesn't work that way.

Light-headed, can't focus, confused?

I'm 21, and recently i have been having spells where i am lightheaded, and having a hard time concentrating on things. It usually happens when i am up doing something, while i'm laying down i am ok. I can't really describe the feeling....i say i feel dizzy but it's not a feeling like the room is spinning.

I have been to the doctor and they have done several tests, and i'm kind of at a point where i don't know what to do next. It's very hard to work when this happens, and i'm getting very frustrated! I feel like i'm going crazy...please help!

Why does my vision get all blurry after laying down for a period of time then standing up?

when you are laying down, your blood vessels relax or dilate and your blood pressure goes down. when you stand up, your blood vessels need to constrict so your blood can reach your brain (being the highest part of your body now).
When you stand up, your blood pools to the bottom because there isn't enough pressure, then your blood vessels constrict causing enough pressure for the blood to get up to your head.

You 'white out' as I like to call it... during the time that your brain isn't receiving sufficient blood.
It happens to everyone, some more than others, and isn't anything to worry about.

That all said... if it's happening to you frequently or even when you haven't been laying down for a long time you might have a lack of iron in your diet. Basically without enough Iron in your system your body isn't able to react as fast as it should.

Sure is funny feeling though.

I hope I explained that well. If not just e-mail me and I'll explain it better.
