Is It Normal To Feel Tired Even After 8 Hours Of Sleep

Why do I feel so tired even after 8 hours sleep?

You seem to have a fatigue problem. Perhaps the energy vitamin B12 can help or a vitamin B complex. Coenzyme Q10 can also help to boost your energy level as in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22c... The super food Spirulina is another good energy booster.

One of the most common fatigue causes is anxiety, which is known to effect 40 million U.S. adults each year. Anxiety is a state of fear of real or imagined danger, which is manifested as increased heart rate, trembling, panic, weakness, extreme fatigue and stomach or intestinal discomfort. Anxiety disorders make up the largest mental illness diagnosis in the U.S.

Besides anxiety there are many other common fatigue causes such as insufficient sleep, too much sleep, under eating, thyroid problems or other illnesses (such as anemia, mononucleosis, CFS, glandular fever and many others), side effects from medication, dehydration, overexertion, an unhealthy diet and other causes as discussed in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22c...

Why do I feel tired even after 9 hours of sleep?

How old are you? Do you have any medical conditions? This can make major differences either way to how much you need. And too much is just as bad, and sometimes worse than too little.

Most adults need about 6 hours sleep a night, 8 is OK but getting on the "too much" side, 4 is OK but getting on the "too little" side. It sounds like you need more the 6 than the 9.

Some teenagers though can actually need 12 hours.

So basically without more info we're all just guessing.

Oh dear. You obviously don't have the option of trying to get 12 hours, though I doubt you'd actually need it. You probably just need to get in a proper routine for a couple of weeks, say going to bed at 9:30 every night, even weekends, until you're in a proper routine.

I'm trying to get in touch with my little sister. She had similar problems at your age and will probably have some better advice than that.

I feel tired all the time even after 8 hours of sleep. What could be wrong with me?

Do you exercise? I used to have the same problem. I know this sounds a little weird, but once I started exercising I started to feel less tired. If you have a lot of excess Carbs in your diet, that can make you feel tired too. If you have low blood pressure its the same thing. I had all those things. regular exercise and a little change in my diet really helped me.

Is it normal to feel tired without 8 hours of sleep?

It is normal to feel tired in the afternoon (so normal, my phone suggested the word afternoon when I wrote “…feel tired in the”) when a person has not gotten enough sleep, especially if that person has not spent much time in the sunlight during the morning. Our circadian rythm is mediated by exposure to light and dark.If you have your face looking at a screen at night, when it has gotten dark outside, you mess with your body's chemical responses to light and dark, and you trigger awake chemicals.Try getting sunlight in the morning, and avoid screens when it is night time.I know, that sounds very hard. But try it for a whole week, and see how you feel. There's nothing mystical about 8 hours. It is the average number of hours sleep adults need. But if 8 is what works for you, 6 is going to leave you tired. The amount of sleep each person needs changes over time, sometimes just due to age, but often due to hormones, stress levels, health, changes in diet, medicine, or even location, as well as daily activities or lack thereof. Many people do not sleep well if they don't have enough physical activity during the day. So 6 hour might work when your life is one way, but not work when it is a different way.

Why am I so tired even after 8 hours of sleep?

Because you are 15 and you are growing and your body needs a LOT of sleep. Also, you might check what type of mattress you have on your bed. If it is to short now or you have had it for a long time and you weighs more now, it might be time to get a new one so you sleep better. Do get a new pillow if you have had yours for a long time. They can get dust mites.
Just one question; are you obese? Some teens are and they can have sleep apnea. That is when you have problems with breathing and you wake up for a short time during sleep. It throws off you sleep cycle and can make you very tired during the day. That is a problem for a doctor to check. If you have asthma, that can also cause sleep problems.
Do consider wearing a sleep mask so the room is very dark. Also, don't play music when you go to sleep, so you have silence. Don't drink those "energy" drinks during the day since high caffeine just has a "let down" effect and will make you tired. Those companies want to sell more of that and promote it as good when it is not.

Why do I feel so tired even after 8 hours of sleep?

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

I get 8+ hours of sleep, but feel tired all the time?

Being tired doesn't only depend on not getting enough sleep, you probably aren't eating enough or maybe you're just not eating enough of the right foods. Try more fruit n veg and also drink more water. The fruit will increase your energy levels by giving you more vitamins and glucose (especially oranges, cherries, strawberries and bananas).
Also, stress levels can often make you feel drained and tired. Relax more often, take up a new hobby, try out yoga/pilates and meditation, etc...
Another big factor is passion in what you do. If you're passionate about your work, then you'll naturally be better and faster at it. You may want to think about that...
P.s. More sleep doesn't give you more energy, you should aim to get at least 8 hours, but not more than 10 or you'll feel lethargic.

Why do you still feel tired after eight hours of sleep?

Thanks for A2A.Other answers here covered quite well the issue of sleep apnea and REM cycle. To those I would want to add the idea of sleep hygiene - see here: Sleep HygieneNamely, you surroundings and activities before sleep play an important role in your ability to get good night sleep. You would sleep better in quiet dark surroundings, but waking up happens better if you expose yourself to sunlight and not wake up in complete darkness. Intensive sport activity may cause adrenaline rush and interfere with your ability to fall asleep if done close to sleeping hours. Stimulating agents like caffeine also will prevent good sleep. In general it is better to do some relaxing activity short before sleep, like yoga or meditation to calm your body and mind and prepare them for sleep.

Is taking a nap even after sleeping for 8 hours normal?

Yes!For your age, it's definitely normal to sleep for 8 to 9 hours!Any adult need to get atleast 6 to 8 hours of sleep everyday. You're still in your teens and so you need more sleep to function normally during the daytime, as lack of sleep or insufficient amount of it, may cause various health problems like daytime drowsiness, respiratory infections, lack of focus, headaches etc! But, if it exceeds this amount, you have to gradually bring it down to 9 hours, that is, 8 hours of night's sleep and about 1 hour of afternoon (power) nap. It wouldn't be difficult for you, as your sleep pattern seems to have just a marginal rise, when compared to the recommended quantity!Thank you!

Why do I feel tired even after getting 10 hours of proper sleep?

There are a couple of possible reasons behind your feeling tired even after getting 10 hours of proper sleep.According to the Michael Decker, sleep specialist and associate professor at Case Western School of Nursing, sleep inertia may be one of the major cause of sleeplessness. He further quoted that:"As we sleep, our brain rotates through several stages known as non-rapid eye movement (NREM), slow wave sleep (SWS) and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep,""Although asleep, our brain is metabolically very active in REM sleep, and fairly active in NREM sleep. In the morning, we typically awaken from NREM sleep. As our brain is already metabolically active, the leap to consciousness is very short.""The term 'sleep inertia' describes that period of time in which our brain is struggling to engage its wake-maintaining areas, its cognitive and decision making areas, as well as motor function areas," said Decker.
