Is It Normal To Feel Your Heartbeat In Your Stomach

Is it normal to feel your heartbeat in your stomach?

It is not. The aorta in the abdomen can become dilated if the wall is weak (aneurysm). This is the most common place for it to happen; you can feel the pulsation between your belly button and the bottom of your breast bone. If you can actually feel pulsation there instead of only a sensation, it should be evaluated. These tend to grow until they rupture. After a rupture most people die before they reach the hospital and of those who do reach the hospital alive 50% die in the hospital. I have repaired many of these - both ruptured and not and can confirm these figures. On a routing physical exam this area is frequently not examined well enough and obesity makes it harder to examine. If you are concerned, a test is best.

Is it normal to feel your heartbeat in your stomach?

Yes, it is. What you are feeling is blood being pumped through all your vessels. You can feel as well as 'see' your heart beat pretty much anywhere in your body, especially when you are worked up. Don't worry, I can feel my heartbeat in my stomach too, quite well not to mention, especially after a good run.

Is it normal to feel your heartbeat in your stomach?

This depends, if you just feel it/sense it, then it probably doesn't matter; however, if you are palpating (pressing) a few inches above your umbilicus/belly button and feel a pulsating mass then it is a medical problem and you should consult your physician immediately as you may have an abdominal aortic anyerism (AAA). If you are talking about "feeling" your heartbeat as your whole stomah when excited, or laying flat, it likely just feels weird and is not important. If it is an AAA, and ruptures, you would likely be dead before medical treatment could be provided. Don't delay if you feel it is serious.

Is it normal to feel and see a heartbeat in your stomach?

My bf thinks the same as Ally and the nurse in er said the same thing when i went for something....lol now im kinda worried....i got a 3 yr old do i really need another one?...lol but even wheni hold my breath i can see it and try not to pay attention to it and stuff its just there....is that a pulse point the upper part of my stomach.....(my first stomach)lol?

Can you feel your own heartbeat through your stomach, and not be pregnant?

Yes it can. I have always been able to feel my pulse in my abdomen. I think it just depends on your body structure though. Seems people with thin frames often have an easier time feeling their pulse there than people who are heavy or have a large body frame. I'm always about 5-10 lbs overweight which isn't much but I have a thin body frame so everything is pretty easy to reach/feel for me (I can see it as well if I'm stretched out). My sister was never overweight until she had her kids but she has a stocky body frame and could never feel her pulse in her abdomen.

Why do i feel a heartbeat in my stomach?

We have blood vessels in our stomachs, and it is possible to feel a pulse in blood vessels, like at the wrist. What you might be feeling is the abdominal aorta, the largest blood vessel in the central part of the body. The aorta exits from the heart, the cranial arteries split off, then the aorta loops around and goes down through the abdomen and splits to form the arteries that go to the legs. Check an anatomy book or diagram on line.

Can u feel your heartbeat in your stomach?

Yes, it is normal.
You have a major blood vessel - an artery called the Aorta which travels from your heart through your abdomen. It is very large and you can often feel it pulsing and see your abdo pulsing slightly when you are laying flat.
If you are young and healthy this is fine and nothing to worry about.
Your friends heart condition probably had nothing to do with her aorta. I am sure if you surveyed most of the population they would see their tummy pulsate slightly especially after exercise.
relax!

Laying down; feeling a heartbeat in your stomach ?

There are pulse points in your abdomen and groin just like there's a pulse point in your wrists and your neck. It's perfectly normal and it's your own pulse you're feeling. Even if you were 9 months pregnant you would not be able to feel the baby's pulse or heartbeat from outside - you'd need a Doppler to listen for it.
