Is It Normal To Have A Glare With Contacts With You First Wear Them

Getting married and don't want to wear glasses/contacts...?

In the next year or so me and my fiance are getting married. I wear glasses all the time and don't really want to wear them during the wedding or in pictures. I can't hardly see without them and I'm already clumsy so I don't want to trip and fall either. Contacts aren't an option for me because I can't stand having my eyes messed with. They are very sensitive and it drives me nuts so no sticking my finger in my eye for me. Would Lasik surgery be a good way to go or should I just though it out without my glasses? Please seriously answers only! Thanks...

Is it normal to see a glare when you first start wearing contacts?

No, it is not normal. I had halos at night around lights with the first contacts I tried. I let my eye doctor know and we tried a different lens and has been fine since. The original type were smaller, so suspect that they were too small for your pupils. It could also be caused by contacts that are too tight. I suggest letting your eye doctor know, as they may just need to get you to try a different lens type/brand.

Does constantly wearing eyeglasses have any adverse effects to uncorrected vision?

I recently went to an optical shop to look for a set of eyeglasses that could filter radiation coming from computer monitors. As my work demands, I spend my whole days in front of a computer and feel the need to protect my eyes from over-exposure to surrounding glare and radiation. I had my eyes examined first, following the shop guys' recommendation. Their reason for recommending such was that, I have budgeted for lenses, so why wouldn't I aim for a set of eyeglasses that was custom-made for me, instead of spending for a generic anti-radiation eyeglasses. the test resulted to a -0.25 vision (negligible, I think), and I received my eyeglasses for -0.25 correction.

My worry is: does constant use of these eyeglasses have any bad effects to my vision when not wearing them (uncorrected vision)? I can still perform perfectly without wearing them (I notice just a slight difference on visual acuity between wearing and not wearing them, and as I've stated, my main concern was to protect my eyes from monitor radiation). Or in other words, will my normal vision get impaired by possibly being dependent to corrective eyeglasses?

Answers would be appreciated.

Bright, cloudy vision in left eye wearing contacts?

Its possible you have the left lens inside out so try that first, by turning the lens inside out and then putting it back in. If it was the correct way to start off with your vision will be worse with it roudn that way and it won't fit as well. It is also possible that teh lens is damaged or has got a hair or something on it. Check the lens carefully under a bright light.

If none of these suggestions work then the likely issue is fit on the lens. You need to go back to the optician and explain this lens is a problem and they should look at a different type or fit of lens for you. Normally you get trials first so that thsi sort of issue is resolved before you order lenses.

Will i get glasses or contacts quicker?

Glasses take about 2 hours. What are you talking about?? You just go in to the optometrist and get you're eyes evaluated. Then the people find the matching glasses and give them to you. That easy. Contacts on the other hand, you get a temporary one to wear until the full lens set is ready (which takes about a week). However, all the eye doctor does is check the magnification on your glasses, make you do a couple tests, then you find the matching zoom on the contacts and then they give you a free pair.

Do I have to wear my glasses when I take my picture for my driver's license in Texas?

Nope. In fact, I wear glasses all the time, my vision is so bad without glasses that I need to wear them just to walk around. The person who takes the pic at the DMV will tell you to take off the glasses, even if you ordinarily wear them.

Contacts are more expensive than glasses, they are more trouble to fit, they are more trouble to wear, they are more trouble to maintain, they don't work well if you have certain medical conditions, are not advisable in certain physical conditions, and they require that the user buy various solutions, none of which are exactly cheap. Now, if you are OK with spending the money and time to fiddle with contacts, go for it. I have other things to spend my time and money on.

How can you make wearing rigid contact lenses more comfortable?

In the beginning when you are going through the adaptation process I know it can be tough. Vision may fluctuate, blur, tearing, and light sensitivity may occur. As you blink the rgp lens will bump into the upper or lower eye lids and can be irritating. The fit is really paramount in how comfortable they are in the longterm. TYpically once you place a rgp lens on eye, it should be comfortable after about 20min or so with a dramatic reduction in sensation. Because of this eye lid sensation some people stop blinking properly. Practice blinking excercises with rgp lenses on.And wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from wind and glare. It is common for the fit to be altered slightly depending if its necessary and is normal as well. You may need to return after about a week for a checkup to determine this.Once you place them on, slowly blink full blinks while looking up/down/right and left. Do this about 20x and do not get into the bad habit of partially blinking.Using rewetting drops a few times a day during the adaptation period also helps as the eyes may feel dry and irritated. Rewetting drops will soothe your eyes. The extra lubrication will make them a bit more comfortable. I know the first few days are hardest, but don’t worry you will eventually get use to them. I have dry sensitive eyes and I wear them now in perfect comfort and don’t feel them anymore.Eventually they will be super comfortable whereas you wont feel them at all, I promise.Good luck!

Can I wear glasses to a model casting?

It depends on the audition... If it's for a commercial then that's fine, but for a photo shoot that's another story. I say bring both your contact and your glasses. I think they will want to see what you look like with and without. If you go with glasses it will put you in a box and lower your chances. It's a tough call, but I say wear it and show them what you look like without glasses and your ok with wearing your contacts for certain gigs. Show them your versatile and easy to work with. Best to of luck! Most models I see on tv, commercials and print ads don't wear glasses, and if they do you can't tell cause they are wearing contacts. Besides I don't know if you know , but a little tip I learned from photographers anyone you see wearing glasses in real life in their work they don't wear real glasses lens because the lens cause a glare on camera and in photos. So even if you take your glasses they most likely won't let you wear your real prescription lens anyway because it causes glare depending on how bad ur vision is.
