Is It Normal To Want An Engagement Ring Too

Is $5000 too much for an engagement ring?

About 2 months ago my boyfriend told me to go look at rings to get an idea on what I like. At first I was looking for rings around $1K -$2k and I found some that I liked but nothing I fell in love with. After going to a few places my best friend came with me and she told me to stop looking at the price tag and to just try a bunch on until I found one I loved. Well I did and the one I fell in love with is about $5000. I know they have the old saying "3 months salary" and the $5k falls under that, but I just feel uneasy about it since we are also going to be paying for the wedding ourselves and saving for a house. On the other hand if I did get a ring under $2k I think I will always wish I got the one for $5k I fell in love with. Oh and he won't be paying for the ring himself. We will both help to pay it off since it will be "our debt" after we are married.

Is $3000 too much for an engagement ring?

So, my boyfriend and I have been shopping around for engagement rings, as he's (hopefully!) going to "pop the question" in the next few months. I guess it turns out I'm really picky with what style of ring I want, because I've only found one that I really like so far; I wish I could find a picture of it to show you, as it is truly beautiful, everything I could have wanted. Unfortunately, it's $2699 before taxes, so it will be around $3000 when the taxes are added. My boyfriend and I both like the ring, but he said he'd rather spend $2000 maximum. I'm not the shallow or materialistic type and I'm not the type of girl who expects her boyfriend to get her fancy expensive stuff all the time, but I think this is the perfect ring for me, and you only get engaged once, after all! Plus, I don't think $3000 is that much...in some of the stores we looked at, a lot of rings were $8000 or $9000, some even more! Is it unfair of me to want him to buy me a $3000 ring? Should I insist he get the one I like, or should I let him pick out a cheaper one that I don't like as much?

Is my engagement ring too big?

Every since I got my engagement ring about a week ago I have become paranoid that it is too big. I got it sized during the summer and my fingers were swollen. At the time I got it sized it took a tad bit of force to get it off. The jeweler said that I wanted it to fit a bit tight so that there was no chance of it falling off. Now that the weather is colder it seems a bit looser. Instead it is a lot easier to get off and I am afraid it is too big. It also spins to the right and left side sometimes. Is it foolish for me to think that it should stand up straight 100% of the time and never spin? If I get it sized to fit in the winter will it then become too tight for the summer. I shook out rugs recently and it never feel off,but when I tried shaking my hand over the bed it fell off after several vigorous shakes. I am worried it might need resized. It is just weird because when I first wake up in the morning it fits tight and is a struggle to get off, but as the day goes on it becomes looser. If I get it resized it may be too tight in the morning. I am so confused and paranoid thanks for any advice you can give.

Is Your Diamond Engagement Ring Small?

Mine is not that small but many of my friends have very small rings. Others have big ones. It's all up to personal taste and what you can afford. Mine is under a carat but I love it and I wouldn't want anything else.

The ring is important because it is a symbol of your love and your fiancees desire to make you happy but it should also be something you can afford and makes sense not some riddiculously big rock. At the end of the day you need to be happy with it but if your fiancee knows and loves you it shouldn't be a problem. If anyone else said anything about a small ring I'd be mad at them.

Do men get engagement rings too?

I have been engaged for a few months now, and now my fiance who is in Florida for his schooling (hes in the military) said he wants an engagement ring too. I didn't know guys got engagement rings too though. My brother has an engagement ring, so I guess men get them too. But i just wanted to clarify if this is something that has always been going on or if its a new trend or something.

Is my engagement ring too plain?

A 2 carat ring is huge! And a solitaire is a classic lovely ring you will love for years. Seriously, who cares if others think it is plain... if they know anything about diamonds they will know a 2 ct center stone is a big deal.

With a stone that big, it needs to have center stage and be on display and not distracted my other diamonds.

Geez, I wanted a 2 carat so badly in my solitaire, but a good one was $19,000 just for the diamond. I had to "settle" for the 1.5 carat and that was still an arm and a leg.

If you have not purchased it yet, make sure you have a quality stone because there is nothing worse than a large "dead" diamond with no sparkle or fire.

Consider yourself very fortunate. That is a lovely ring.

You can bling it out with a sparkley wedding band or egternity bands. I already have a 2 carat wedding band picked out to accompany mine.

PS: I previously had a 1.5 carat ring with some accent stones and a thicker band and updraded to my flawless solitaire with a D colorless diamond and it is so much prettier on my hand. The diamond pops. My best friend told me she thought the stone looked bigger on my hand than my multistone ring.

Solitaires are beautiful and classy. You only need accent stones if you have a small diamond to make it look more substantial. You are fine.

Is $25,000 (USD) too much to spend on an engagement ring?

WOW, $25,000

I guess it depends on how much money you guys make. If his last name is Gates or Trump I would say no.

I can tell you this I make just under $250,000 a year and I would not spend that on one. Good thing my wife of 18 years would also smack me if I ever did spend that much on something like that.

Fact of the matter is if you really love him and want to spend the rest of your lives together spend the $25,000 on something like a down payment on a home or paying your bills off.

If you are thinking about financing the ring your absolutely crazy to want to start your new life with him $25,000 in debt.

Are you supposed to give the guy an engagement ring after he proposes?

It's not too common (at least in the US) for guys to wear engagement rings. I'd ask your fiance if he wants one.

As mentioned above, an engagement gift is totally acceptable. I bought my husband a white gold chain after we got engaged. My sister got her husband a ham radio (hey, it's what he wanted). Her husband also wore his wedding band on his right hand during their engagement, because he was really excited to wear his ring.
