Is It Ok To Apply For More Than One Us Postal Service Job

Can someone help me with USPS (Postal Service) application?

When the postal service says you must have 7 years accounted for, they mean that you have to account for the seven years, not that you have to have seven years of employment. I believe that putting down 3 years of school, one year unemployed, and 3 years of internships would satisfy this requirement. The website is not user friendly, and the instructions can be confusing. I know, because I filled out the forms about three years ago. I was thinking of working part time. But you can figure it out, and you can get it right. It will take a while, it may well take more than one try, but you can do it.If you have specific questions, please ask those here. Which job are you applying for? That makes a difference in the employment process.

Why do so many US Postal Service employees hate their jobs?

I think that a large population of any given workforce, whether it be Real Estate, Physicians, Sales Clerks, or Postal Workers, dislike their job. The US Postal Service employees nearly 700,000 people, one of the 3rd largest US employers. They offer great pay, benefits, and easy sick leave! Who wouldn't want that? Now with that being said -Monotony is a *****, crazy days off, crazy hours, and being at the whim of upper management would make anyone feel like going postal! While I agree that a USPS job can suck, it is up to the individual to make him or herself happy...and if that means going out on a limb and finding a new job or just sucking it up and take the great pay and benefits and make the most out of it. It could always be worse...we could all be jobless and hungry. We should try to be grateful for what we have and accept the things we can't change and make the most of it.

Is it hard to get a job at US Postal Service?

If you are a white man it is very hard.

How many years back does the US postal service go on background checks?

Will they regard any records that are 16 years old? I was playing with matches when I was a teenager, and I was charged with arson because the school THOUGHT I had intent to burn the school down, but I did not intend to, it was all a big misunderstanding.

I was a able to get a job with UPS (United Parcel Service) and pass their background and I worked for them for 4 years, so why not the Postal service?

Is U.S. Postal Service a good career move?

My mother has been a USPS rural letter carrier for over 25 years now. When considering aking this position, your fiance' should take into account a few things... the heat, the long hours, and although there certainly is the potential for raises- the opposite is also true. They can re-evealuate your route at any time, add to/ take from/or change it, and give you a pay cut- even though you may be doing a great job! And will the post office be providing him a vehicle? They don't here, so you'd either have to purchase a vehicle with the steering wheel on the passenger side, or do as my mom does- sits in the passenger seat, and reaches her arm and leg across the seat to drive. (can't be too comfortable, but she's great at it, let me tell you.)

What happens after passing the US Postal Service Exam?

When you took your exam, it asked you which three facilities/areas you wanted your score to be placed. Those three places have your score. No other areas have it. Since you stated that you took the carrier exam (don't know which one you're referring to as there are two, city carrier and rural carrier), your score is for carrier positions only. Your score is placed on a hiring register within those three areas you chose. When the USPS hires from the general public, they do so by score. It took them 2 1/2 years after I passed the Exam 470 (now Exam 473) to call me about a position. And, I scored in the nineties. The USPS is not hiring any time soon. As a matter of fact, it's quite the opposite. They're offering qualifying employees early-outs (early retirement) and reverting (getting rid of) hundreds of positions, many of which are carrier positions. A lot of our "man" power is being done away with by automated systems. My job is even in jeopardy. I would suggest taking the Exam 473 if it ever becomes available in your area. You have the best chances on getting hired in distribution positions within a big city, in a Processing and Distribution Center. That exam is rarely ever given to the general public, so if you ever get the chance to take it, DO IT! In the meantime, go to all your local post offices, speak with the Postmasters there, be polite, introduce yourself, tell them you have passed the city or rural carrier exam and you're interested in a TE position if one is available. A TE is a "Temporary Employee" who delivers mail. It would be a wise decision to inquire about this position while waiting for your score to be called. TEs do not receive any benefits. Just because someone passes one of many postal exams, does not mean they will be hired any time soon. There is still a grueling interview/hiring process to go through. Which includes a thorough criminal and background check conducted by the FBI, driving history, & a drug screening. Those screenings and checks are done for everyone who works for the USPS. Hope I've answered some of your questions, and given you some direction to follow in your Postal career path. Good luck!

Questions about post office jobs...?

I have several questions,
1. Is the test hard?
2. What kinds of things do they ask you?
3. Do they relocate you (if they need) and do you have a choice...
4. How many blocks do mailmen usually have in a route?
5. Do they have a fitness test-or have weight req?
6. Is there a limit to how many times you can take the test?
I really like the idea of 20 bucks an hour plus benefits.... I'm going to the post office tomorrow morning to put in an application and they have already listed a position in the paper... anything else that i should know before going in? Right now I am a shift manager and only get paid 8.00 an hour... no benefits.... no sick time... no anything else... I really would like to get all my bills caught up and get a house and have babies! lol.... but i can't even think about it without a better job!!! any advice? Thanks to everyone in advance!!
