Is It Ok To Cancel My Secured Credit Card

Secured Credit Card from PNC ?

If you paid a deposit on it, then use the money before cancelling. It will help establish your credit in the meantime. Secured credit cards are great credit builders.

You will need to call the bank though to find out their policy regarding the funds if you decide to cancel. Banks vary on their fees and policies.

Can I cancel my Applied Bank secured credit card and get back my deposit?

I have just been accepted and paid for my Applied Bank Secure Visa Gold cc. I should have read the hundreds of complaints about this company, then I would never have joined them. Well, they took my deposit from my bank and I'm awaiting the card in the mail. But after reading how bad this company is, I'm NOT going to use it at all, and will return it once I receive it. Will my deposit be returned to me in full? There is a $50 annual fee that they took out of the deposit...will I get that back and when???

What are the repercussions of canceling a secured credit card after having been lied to by the bank?

Something is not right here, the reason given to you for not returning the 2,000 dollar deposit does not seem valid.Do you have the account documentation when the account was opened? What does it say about returning your deposit after one year?Have you met all the requirements for the Bank to return your deposit? If you have met all or at least most of the requirements, ask when the deposit will be returned or if it will not be returned WHY it will not be returned. Ask to see the reason(s) in written Bank documents. Under no circumstances accept hand and arm waving as a valid reason. Of course you can ask another Bank representative for their response as well.If you still do not like the answers, consider closing the account and opening a new one at a different bank. After four years of acceptable credit history, you should be able to obtain a credit card without any deposit. The will be NO, repeat NO repercussions for closing any type of bank account at any time for any reason. Finally, I respect Wells Fargo, and I cannot accept that this is Bank policy for someone who has maintained a good customer relationship for four years. Again, what you say just does not make any sense to me.

How long should i keep my secured credit card?

Hi, i just got a secured credit card 5 months ago with a limit of 250. Now i want to raise my limit at least to 1000. Ive heard that a year is good to hold on to a secured card but my main question is does it look good to raise your own limit that high?

If I close a Secured Credit Card with a balance, will it hurt my credit?

I have 5 credit cards: 4 of them are completely paid off and have zero balances for a total credit limit of $2,000.
The last 1 is a secured card which has a credit limit of $3,000. I paid $2,850 towards a security deposit to get that credit limit. The balance on that card is now $2,500.
I talked with Capital One and they said I could close the card right now and they would send me the $350 deposit balance in a month or so.
My question is: will it hurt my credit if I do that?
I don't see how because I kind of already paid for it in the beginning when I opened the card - that's what the security deposit is for.
If anything, I would think that it would help my credit because instead of having 5 cards totaling a 50% credit balance (5,000 in credit total - $2500/5000 = 50% that I'm using), my credit report would show 4 cards all at 0% balance which looks better overall.
Should I close the secured card? Or work to pay down the secured card over time to be 0 balance and then close it? Either way, I have to close it. 5 cards is too many. :)

Where do i apply for capitol one secured credit card?

Can you withdraw cash from an atm with a secured credit card?

imonly

Yes if you have a pin code. You will pay and advance fee on top of normal interest. If you do not know the pin, you can go into almost any bank with your Visa / MasterCard and get a cash advance too!

If you are applying today, and setting up the savings account, it will be a week or two before you get the card and credit line in place. Ask them for the timing.....

Bank of America Secured Credit Card Deposit back?

Your credit score is back on track? If you've had financial problems in the past few years then BoA may not unsecure the card, especially if the problems were with that card account. Banks typically do not give credit limit increases on secured cards. With a secured card the only way to increase your credit limit is for you to deposit more money into the secured card account.

You really should have been building up your credit during the past 2 years after receiving the secured card, by trying to get unsecured cards or loans with different creditors.

You might see if you can get a regular unsecured credit card with a different creditor, join a credit union and see what types of credit cards they will offer you, check with Capital One, etc. If you're approved with a card with a different creditor then after 'paying the BoA card off in full' you might call BoA and ask them if your card qualifies to become unsecured. If they won't unsecure it, and if you had been building your credit and have other accounts reporting on your credit reports, then you might consider canceling the card.

If you haven't been building up your credit and the secured card is the only thing reporting on your credit reports then you should probably keep it for another year or so until your new card gets a little bit of age on it.

You don't have to go to Nevada to do this, just call the number on the back of the card. If you cancel the card you'll still have the history of the account reporting on your credit reports for the next 10 years.

You might go to the free site that I've listed in the source box and do some reading/research in the Credit Forum and also do some research in the Credit Pulls data base. The site is totally free to read and to ask questions.
