Is It Ok To Cut Hair With Electric Clippers When Wet

Can HIV live on electric hair clipper?

Popular belief is that HIV is a easily transmissible disease, this is not true, the disease is very fragile and does not survive outside of the body where it is in contact with air (which is why the only way you can catch it is direct contact via sex, blood transfusion, or needle sharing (cause blood becomes trapped within the syringe.. which is not in contact with the air, so it keeps the virus viable). The disease almost instantly becomes inactive once it is exposed to the elements. Even if the virus were able to survive the elements, it would take copious amounts of blood onto a gash to even have potential, not a trace onto a chicken scratch.. if that were the case, the amount of people who would have the disease would be astronomical.

When buzz cutting hair with clippers is it better to have hair wet or dry?

Dry.....If wet it will clog the clippers, and also mat down. When doing it have a DRY wash cloth or hand towel handy. That way you can use it to wipe away the hair on the head and you can see the spots that you missed. Also to blend the hair cut as far up as you want and then use a smaller pair of clippers(for side burns), and run it up and down along the hair line. Make sure that when you do this that you don't follow the curve of the head, but keep it straight it will make less of a line and more blended.

Is it dangerous to use an electric hair clipper due to blade lubricant oil which could get into the blood stream if you cut yourself while using the clipper?

I will try to give you the best answer I can for this question. My first answer is "No". This oil would not be developed and perfected to be used on an appliance that's main function is to be applied to the scalp/head. If an infection developed, it's not likely that it's from the oil. An infection would happen due to hairs that were on the clipper or possibly even metal shavings or rust.My second answer is "Maybe". It depends on the person. Some people have an allergic reaction to cold temperature, some people have allergies to latex, and it's quite possible that some people may have allergies to lubricant oil. I'm sure those who are using clippers know by now whether they have an allergy to clipper blade oil, though.

What is better for a first time shaver, an electric shaver or razor?

Short Answer: Depends on your preferences really. Both has advantages and disadvantages. Read on, I’ve listed both of those along with some recommendations for both.Razor:Advantages:Almost always gives you a better shave while compared to any electric shaver.Cheaper, you can save a lot of money if you choose your razor wisely.Maybe not exactly an advantage, but you’re adopting the techniques used by your father and his father. Carrying on a lifelong manly tradition.Depending on your preferences, you can shave as luxuriously as you want(Shave oils, massages, speciality creams and aftershaves) or as quickly as you want.Disadvantages:Almost all men nick themselves at least once in their shaving tradition(Honestly, you don’t even feel it, I’ve cut myself quite a few times I’ve never felt it, nor has it left any scars. Some methods of shaving maybe expensive(Gillete Fusion/ Mach3s, etc). Some types of razors(Straight razors and Shavettes) have steep learning curves.Recommendation For Razor:Abhishek Anand's answer to Which shaving razor do you suggest, for a beginner to use? And any tips while shaving?Electric Razor:Advantages:You will almost never cut yourself, provided you use your razor right(Even then the cut will rarely be a major one)Environment friendly, by not disposing of your blades as regularly.Might be cheaper compared to some razor options(Gillete Fusion/Mach3) in the long run. Some razors offer both wet and dry shaving options, this works well for those with sensitive skin.Disadvantages:The upfront expense is quite high. Not a very pleasing shave.Another device to charge/ Worse being restricted to places with power sockets.A noisy razor is not the best option for a quick early morning/ late night shave when everyone else is sleeping.Lack of a manly tradition.Recommendations:(I will only be recommending those which I have tried, there maybe other better options out there)Foil type: Panasonic Arc 5(Very close shave)(Wet and dry shave)Rotary type: Philips Norelco SensoTouch 3D(As close as Arc 5)(wet and dry shaves)Best of the best: Braun Series 9 90XXCC series(Absolutely fantastic series)Budget Friendly: Philips Norelco Shaver 4500 (Model AT830/46)If you’re buying from any other country other than USA, remember Philips almost has locally produced models with similar specs, but varying names. Search around.

Hair clipper guard sizes?

Most Clipper Guards are numbered in eighth's of an inch. #1guard leaves 1/8" of hair on the scalp; #2 guard leaves 2/8" on the scalp; #3 guard leaves 3/8" on the scalp etc.
Detachable blades are numbered differently except that the #2 guard and blade cut the same length. All the guard and blade numbers are explained here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Crew_c...
A #2 guard actually leaves the hair a lot shorter than a #3 guard, proportionally speaking, since the cut hair is only 67% of the length, or put another way #3 cut hair is 50% longer than #2 cut hair. The barber can also vary the length by adjusting the taper lever of the clippers. The guards only cut at the specified guard length when the clipper taper lever is in the close cutting position, but this is with standard taper clippers, where the taper lever adjusts between #000 and #1 or #1A with no guard. The taper lever on fade clippers adjusts between #00000 and #000 with no guard attached, which is hardly any difference at all. If your barber is using guards on a rotary clipper there is no taper lever.
Good Luck!
