Is It Ok To Walk My Dog At Midnight Out In The City It

Its 10pm, too late to go walk my dog?

If you feel personally safe where you are at this time of night it is perfectly alright to walk your dog. :)
My dog will never say no to a walk, no matter what time of day it is (well, an exception might be at 3:00 on a day when the thermometer is reading 98 degrees... lol)

Should we be walking the dog in the middle of the night?

We adopted a 5mo. old Retriever/Beagle mix from the shelter about a month ago. She is not housebroken, and she is my very first dog, so I am not sure whether we should be walking her in the middle of the night. She sleeps in a kennel in our bedroom, and she wakes up in the middle of the night wimpering and shuffling around (her sign that she has to go potty). My husband gets up and takes her out back to do her duty, but I worry about him being outside in the wee hours of the morning between 1 - 4am. Granted, it usually takes him around 5-10 minutes, but do people normally do this? She doesn't pee in her kennel, so I think we should make her wait until it is a safe hour. What do you guys do?

Is it weird going for a walk at night?

No. The night is a beautiful atmosphere, even more so than sunshine in my opinion.

The only thing that shrouds this beauty in danger is the fact that people that advantage of the blanket of darkness to do their foul deeds.

I love the night, I breathe better and I cannot even sleep in it, it gives me energy not even the sun can provide.

It is not weird, it is normal.

However, make no mistake, it is dangerous due to 'certain' people.

Is Mumbai safe for a night walk?

It's only a couple of times that I have been out on Mumbai roads in midnight. Honestly, both experiences were amazing. So yes, I can say it is safe to go for a night walk in Mumbai. However, there are certain areas which are completely safe and some which needs to be avoided. Ensure you go to places where you have people around. Avoid isolated places as an unfortunate incident can happen anywhere. You will normally get public transport i.e. cabs or rickshaws at any time of the night. Trains and BEST buses are shut between 1 am to 4 am. If you are not a Mumbaikar, it is advisable to have a local a accompany you. Restaurants are shut however road side food is available in wee hours. You might see Police patrols in late night. They will normally not trouble you, except if they see any suspicious activity. Sea side areas like Carter Road, Marine drive, Worli seaface, Nariman Point are most favourite places for Mumbaikars. If you are lucky to be in Mumbai during Ramadan month, don't miss Mohammed Ali road delicacies. These markets are operational entire night with a hell lot of food to indulge in.Thanks for reading. Cheers!!

What is it like walking through Central Park at night?

I live near the entrance at 78th Street on the east side and walk through Central Park after dark nearly every night because dogs can be off leash after 9 PM. I've never once felt unsafe.I also have a bad habit of keeping my headphones in, and count on my dog to keep anyone from approaching me by surprise. The only other people I see are other UESers walking their dogs. I've never even seen homeless people sleeping in the park -- I don't know how the city keeps them out, but they're entirely absent. It's very peaceful at night and you feel like you have the whole park to yourself. I always look up at the big, expensive buildings lining the park and note how few windows are lit up. It's almost like nobody exists except you. This is a feeling otherwise impossible to obtain in New York.

Is it weird that I prefer to walk my dog super late at night?

I'm a night owl anyways, but I just love how relaxing it feels to go on walks or bike rides late at night when the rest of the world is quite and asleep. Plus it's much cooler out at night so it's more comfortable to do any form of exercise then. However, every time a car passes me I can't help but laugh to myself a little at how they must've thought "who the heck is this freak walking their dog at 3 AM?" hahah, you know? I live in a really safe town, but I still carry pepper spray with me on these late night walks just in case and to shut my paranoia up a bit. But anyways, is it totally weird that I like to walk this late? Does anybody else do it too? Also, what time of the night/early-morning is the most dangerous to be doing something like this? My paranoia has gotten so much worse over the years, I hate it. =/

Do you feel safe walking alone at night?

No. Which is really strange since I have no personal reason to be. I have never been attacked, raped, assaulted, or even called out. I live in a very safe neighborhood where everyone is well off. The area I live in is very nice and like a bubble. I am not accustomed to seeing poor or homeless people on the streets begging, prostitutes and their pimps making their way along the street, or anything to do with gang activity. I am completely sheltered. However, it’s the stories of other people's experiences (particularly women since I am a female) that really get into my head. Even when I have to walk to the end of my driveway (which is not long) at night, scenarios of “what if” pop into my head and I can’t get rid of them. Paranoia seeps into my brain and causes thoughts filled with fear of someone coming to take advantage of me. This may be sexist, but I am always afraid of passing a man in the street at night, But this is because of the stories of men raping and assaulting women. You do not hear very many of women doing it. In fact I do not believe I have ever heard a story of the woman playing the “evil” role. I am not saying that it does not happen. It just does not happen enough for many to hear about it.It is sad that many others have to live with this fear, especially those who are forced into these situations, such as a young mother working late for her children and having no way to get home, but with walking. Such circumstances are unavoidable to some, so we should all do our best to help others feel safe and to spread awareness to this. I hope God keeps all of you safe no matter who you are or where you are.

Do u ever just want to walk around at night?

I really just want to stay up all night and explore the night world. I want to venture out and live while everyone is asleep. I want to see the world when it's quiet. Does anybody else feel this way?

Would you ever walk your dog to the neighborhood park at 4 am alone?

My last dog once insisted on a midnight walk around the neighbourhood.I’d just finished watching a late night film on TV, was wearing pyjamas, had already locked all the doors, turned off all the lights and was ready to climb into bed.Dog refused to settle, insisted on going to the front door to be let out. I let him out into the garden for a few minutes. He refused to come back in, instead he sat by the gate, like he always did when he wanted a walk. I caved in, put my shoes and a hoodie on, picked up his lead and told him we were only going round the block. He looked at me like ‘yeah ok’. He had other ideas. He had a route planned out. We went round the playing field in the middle of our housing estate. The walk took 30 minutes. My neighbourhood is perfectly safe. I’d go as far as to say my neighbourhood is quieter and safer between 10pm and 6am than it is at any other time of day. Walking a dog at that time of night is like being alone in the world, except for the distant sound of traffic on the bypass. Even that’s easy to ignore at night as it’s not very busy.If my dog wanted a walk, he knew he only had to look at me and ask, and i’d give in to his demands. He also knew i’d walk for miles with him, if he led the way. I miss him a lot.My dog Jack with a visiting cat. Jack was fascinated with cats, he always wanted to sniff them and look at them. They usually slapped him on the nose if he got too close. :)
