Is It Okay For Me To Take A Day Off From The Gym

Is going to the gym 4 days a week ok?

So i usually go to the gym four days a week....taking no more than 2 days off in between going and I was wondering if it matters that I only go four days but still do 5 hours a week of exercise. Is this still going to help me lose weight?? My diet is very healthy. I just find it hard to go to the gym everyday without a break in between.

Is it okay to take one day off my diet?

I go to the gym three hours (or more) everyday and eat following my diet plan, which is kind of extreme. I decided to go out and eat today and when I came back I felt so guilty that I had to puke it out. I know this can lead to bulimia if I do it everyday. But there was so much guilt. Now that I've got some of it out, I feel so much happier about myself. My questions are... Is it okay to take one day off? Will I gain weight from it?

Gym 4 days in a row then 3 days off?

If possible, I would definitely advise you to try to alternate days. However, it may not be possible to do so. As long as you are working different muscles on each of these days, you should be okay. So, maybe you should do back/bicep on Friday. Legs on Saturday. Chest and Triceps on Sunday. And finish it off with cardio and abs on monday. Whatever works for you, just try to make sure you only work each muscle group 1 time every week. It isn't hitting the gym that makes us stronger. It is the rest that actually builds up the muscle. If you don't provide proper rest, you will not grow muscle. Good luck.

It is okay to miss a day of working out?

un metabolize? that's new :)
you are obsessed with exercising to the point where it will do more harm than good. i'm sorry if that offends you, but you are exercising too much. I have never seen anyone that needed to train more than 6 days per week, and this is if this person is an advanced professional athelete.
Pilates is a waste of your time... do your weight trianing before your cardio, and train one day on, one day off.
remember, when you exercise everyday, you will stress your nervous system and it will need to recover. if it doesn't recover, you will host a ton of problems in your body including hormonal imbalance, restlessness, insomnia, loss of appetite, muscle lass, fat gain, slower metabolism, and the list goes on.
you need to educate yourself about how your body works.
don't miss one day... miss 2 or 3 days... it'll make you look and feel better.

When people usually see me, they ask me if i train everyday and if i train 3-4 hours per day (i'm a competitve light-heavyweight bodybuilder)... they are shocked when i tell them that i train only 5 days per week, 20-30 minutes per session. people just assume more is better and they don't know that it's the opposite.

hope that helps,

Is it good to go to the gym every day or every other day?

Depends on your fitness goals and objectives. It's good to start with workout with weights every alternate day and cardio on the other days for 6 days a week with one rest day each week. Sessions each day can be 45 - 90 mins on the strength training days. Cardio doesn't have much benefit beyond 30-45 mins - and excessive cardio may interfere with muscle building goals.Your weight seems to be in the normal range for your height and age. To help build more muscle mass - you need to move to high protein diet including primarily eggs and white meats - also sprouts and dals. There should be a decent amount of coloured vegetables. Go slow on the high starch stuff (potatoes, rice, corn etc.). There would be those who advise additional whey protein, but am personally not a great fan.You need about 100 calories in before each workout - just an apple or a few nuts (almond/ walnut/ hazelnuts) work well, at least 30 min prior. Lots of water required through the day - not much during the workout - just sips. Getting a good amount of protein in within 20-30 mins after the workout is important. Also add a multivitamin supplement after breakfast, calcium post dinner. Have ORS (electral) or lime water with some salt and honey on days you've let out a lot of sweat - this is not essential, just use your judgement. All the best :)

Is it good to take a week off from the gym?

As usual, the answer is that it depends. If you’ve had a pretty intense training regimen for a number of months (or longer) taking a week off does indeed give muscles some time to recover, minor injuries to heal and you might find yourself fresher the next time you get in the gym. By taking a week off, I wouldn’t sit on the couch for a week - you might still incorporate some brisk walking or other non-taxing activities like mobility work or stretching. If you’re going to recover for a week, it’s also a good practice to recover in other ways like massage, accupuncture and - most importantly - lots of sleep. But in other situations, if you’re just forming the workout habit, a week off does present the risk of breaking a good habit. That is a danger of changing anything up; if that’s the case, and you need to recover, I’d much prefer to just do some easy workouts to keep up the routine. The benefit of recovery can be achieved without endangering the workout habit.Good luck!

Should you take creatine on your off days?

It is absolutely imperative that you Cycle ON & OFF Creatine. To answer your question here, when you are ON CREATINE then you must…Take Creatine EveryDayHere’s some info about how to effectively Load Creatine…In order to assure that your muscles are pumped up and full of usable Creatine, it is advisable to spend a few days “Loading Up” on Creatine.Fortunately, there have been several studies that tell us exactly how much Creatine you should be consuming, in order to maximize your Creatine “Loading Phase.”7 Days of Loading is the ideal amount…For the average male body, which is 175 pounds @ 5′8 inches @ 20% BodyFat.You can “load up” a few days more, or less…but the optimal time is around 7 days. The amount you should be consuming is roughly 20 grams of Creatine per day, again for the average male. This will ensure that your muscles get enough of this powerful white powder, so you can be properly “Loaded Up” on Creatine and ready to hit the gym!

How often should you take a day off from exercise?

First, I could say that taking a day off every 5 days of workout is the most "balanced" resting you could give to your muscle/body. Normally Sports Doctors, Instructors and Personal Trainers say it's needed to rest 48 hours, BUT nothing is really stipulated, it all depends on your body and organism needs. If you feel like you're getting too sore a day after your workout just rest your body. It's simply focused on your needs. Now, I personally workout 6 days straight and take 1 day off then keep the routine.
Hope it helps!

Should you take one or two days off for working out?

It is not necessary to take a day off after every workout day - even after a very strenuous workout. What is advisable, is that you not work out the same muscle group more than one time within the same 48 hour window…I would even advise 72 hours in most cases. This is because the process of working out (and I assume your question means lifting weights) breaks down muscle tissue. Muscles grow back bigger and stronger as a result of this - so it’s important that you eat and sleep enough for the muscles to repair themselves…part of that process is not breaking them down again while they rebuild. This can result in injuries and also doesn’t give you an optimal result anyway, so you’re putting yourself through a lot of pain for no reason.Take a day off if you’re feeling lethargic and hazy - but don’t fall into the trap of “overtraining” which for many people is a buzz word meaning “I don’t feel like working out today”. Most people have no idea how to work hard enough in order to become overtrained.Follow me on instagram for more content at Joe.Lifts.bro
