Do people with vision in only one eye get jobs?

Hello,I have no vision in my right eye since birth. Thanks to my parents, friends & family support I have never felt bad about it. There is no sense in watching less TV/mobile phones or any screen for that matter. Normal precautions like fair distance(20 feet - can you do it with phone/laptop - NO CHANCE) ; blinking regularly to keep your eye moisturized, breaks in mid etc etc should be fine. Basic fact - protect your left eye - bcoz unlike others you cannot afford any harm to it.Talking specific to India here - (BEEN THERE DONE THAT - experience talking here)Studies will be an issue if you go for medical/industrial production side. Manufacturing or heavy engineering/production/operations you will face disappointment at each step in this line.Safe line - Computer Science/IT/Electronics/Telecom - No IssuesThis is probably the area you will be at least disadvantage rest all is a struggle in some or the other way. (I learnt it the hard way)if you go for MBA -Finance & IT are stress free,Operations - Big NOHR - cant say. Sales & Marketing - Got rejected on medical grounds in 2 of the bigger MNC’s of world but that was the bad luck which I have been bestowed with. In most places you should not face an issue.Govt Reservations/Restrictions - You will get a certificate of 30% disability which disqualified you of any benefits and at the same time deems you ‘UNFIT’ of a lot opportunities in PSU.So be very very very sure about any govt. job opportunity you are going for.People like us like to conceal this info about us as much as we can hence going anonymous. Hope you all understand

I’m blind from one eye and have 6/20 vision in my second eye, can I do an MBBS?

Realistically, I don’t think you vision is up to par for this occupation. You may be able to get yourself through the school with luck, however, I don’t think you will be able to perform all of tasks required in this field when making diagnosis & treating patients.I cannot think of any specialty in medical field where reasonably good vision is not required.I think that you should focus on specialty that requires a lot of theoretical knowledge and analytical mind. You could be a great scientist in specific fields.

Can a one eyed person become a radiologist?

Yes absolutely. It might be a little more difficult for you, but it's about the quality and the intuition that you develop as a clinician, not simply the capacity to see as well as you can.

Don't let anything get in the way of doing what you want and striving for your goals.

Good luck!

Is a person blind in one one eye qualify the medical checkup for MBBS or not?

I really am not certain about the rules of the medical schools but as far as I see it, there should be no hurdle in qualifying for MBBS with one non working eye, but it could become a hurdle if the the person tries to apply for a postgraduate course in a surgical branch because binocular vision gives human beings depth perception which is hamphered in monocular vision. So it becomes a hurdle for surgical profession. But medical branches like medicine, radiology or skin should have no problem.

A person blind by one eye is considered as Handicapped or Disabled ? What if I don't disclose this to the world except my loved ones ?

I'm answering the question with reference to India. According to the Categories of visualImpairment defined by the National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB), India :If you are completely blind in one eye (no perception of light) while you have best corrected visual acuity of 20/20 in the other eye the disability is 30%The complete table is here.http://ijo.in/article.asp?issn=0...How to get a disability certificate in India?First get a full Ophthalmic examination from the Ophthalmologist in the top most government facility in your district. In some cases you may have to go to the capital of your state to get the examination done. The application should be submitted with the categorisation of your visual impairment attested by an Ophthalmologist not below the rank of Resident Medical Officer (RMO) or equivalent. I’m illegally blind in my right eye (1/60) and have 6/6 normal vision in my left eye. Am I able to do an MBBS?

Thanks for asking your question:I'm legally blind in my left eye (1/60).right-eye is normal (6/6).Am i able to do MBBS?In the United States, anything that has to do with an incision or the use of optical instruments will likely be a significant for any medical person. However, there are cases in the United States where internal medicine, psychiatry, physical medicine and infectious diseases will qualify an individual for specialty. In the UK system, I’m not sure if there is a lot of surgery. If the surgery is minimal, then your situation is forgivable.

My right eye is blind. Can I pursue an MBBS?
