Is It Possible For Poor Health To Affect Job Performance

Can an old power strip affect computer performance?

Incredible number of wrong answers. In my decades of computer repair work, I have never seen a power strip affect computer performance. Obviously, if the strip is defective, it will cause problems by keeping power from going to your computer. It will not, however, affect the computer's performance.

Also, if you really meant surge supressor when you said power strip, they do go bad and need to be replaced occationally. When they stop a fairly large to large surge, the functional component in them can burn out. That is how they do their job, they sacrifice themselfs to protect your equipment.

Most of the rest is urban legend. This is a area where I am an expert and I see misinformation about this all the time from people who are misintrepreting things they have read or heard.

I have seen power related problems, but never one caused by the power strip. The only ones I have seen are either on or off, no in between.

Replace the surge supressor every couple of years. It is relatively cheap for the protection and the piece of mind you will get. Kind of like insurance.

What do you think is the cause for my poor job performance (I'm going to be fired any time now)?

I have drank 3-4 glasses of wine now for about three years. I have bad bipolar, depression & anxiety for many years & several years ago I had a 51/50 for being suicidal. I went in the mental hospital for a few days. Since then, I haven't been suicidal. I used to really goof off at work, causing poor job performance, but I did manage to work at a company for 13 years, then got written up & quit. I have worked at my current company for seven years, and only in the past two have stopped goofing off. However, I now (didn't before) make a ton of mistakes at work & am the most behind person in the office. I'm 46 years old. I'm now in an outpatient alcohol rehab program & have been clean & sober for 20 days. I'm on disability. I just got notice via email by accident that I was written up & anytime can get fired thereafter. Do you think the cause of my poor work performance and getting eventually fired is because of my age, my psyche conditions or my alcohol abuse and why? Thanks.

The important thing is to show that you are a good candidate for the new employer, not the old one. If it truly is something where you are in the wrong, and likely to do again in the future, you should work on changing that. If not, it could be situational and only to do with that particular job (i.e. incompatible personalities, toxic environment). One way around it is to keep the job on your resume, but don’t indicate the reason for leaving. It’s important not to lie about it if asked, but wherever possible, pivot away from the negative and focus on the positive points about your qualifications during any interview.A hiring manager may be willing to overlook a misunderstanding or bad experience, but if you show that you will bring the same problem to their company and not leave it behind (i.e. blaming your old boss) it will work against you. If cornered, own it, and try to show how it was an isolated incident that won’t come with you to this new job.If you were there a long time before being let go, there MUST have been good parts to your time there until the bad thing happened, and you can focus on those things. If you weren’t there very long or can’t think of a favourable framing to explain the reason your departure (i.e. “we agreed to part ways over personal differences”), you might as well just leave it out.

As your previous organization has not indicated “termination due to poor performance” in your relieving and experience letter, it means that they do not want to spoil your career. In future interviews, you can simple tell the interview board that your project ended or it was a self resignation (also make some reasons). As per my opinion, as they have not mentioned termination in your experience letter, they may not tell this during your background check. And your termination is due to poor performance but not due to any criminal offence. So it may not be much troublesome provided you start improving your skills. But, you please reassess yourself and your performance. Please try to find out the loopholes in your performance. Please try to rectify your mistakes. If it is lack of knowledge and skills then please try to improve. Each lacuna can be rectified and anybody can do it.If you prepare yourself sincerely then it will be reflected in your interview board also. Your strong skills, knowledge, confidence and time management ability will overshadow your past poor performance. So cheer up and have a new start.

I've take Xanax off and on for about 4 years. I can go months and months without one and then sometimes I'll take maybe 5-10/month (5+ is rare). I've had the same 90# bottle nearly a year so that tells you something. I've never had it affect my productivity at all. I'm highly functioning and productive at work (high stress sometimes) and there's no change to this when I take a Xanax when I'm anxious. If taken when I'm not anxious, I can expect to be drowsy. It will very likely put you to sleep if you're not anxious. Not in the same way a sleeping pill will but it will probably make you a little drowsy and make it easier to fall and stay asleep.I have a couple of friends who have had this exact experience. Anxious: no effect other than anxiety goes away. Not anxious: little drowsy, easy to fall and stay asleep. This is a highly addictive drug and I have a highly addictive personality. But given that I've had the same 90# bottle for nearly a year, I obviously don't have this issue. But I'm probably the exception to the rule. There are doctors that specialize in getting people weaned off this drug.

Can women suffer from performance anxiety in bed?

Gary...you suck!! This is a problem that has become very common. My sister has been married for almost 5 years and her husband cant do much either. Given that you guys have recently started dating, give the sex some time, work on the relationship and getting more comfortable with each other and then you could try to get him into therapy (sexual). There could be many reasons, somtimes it could have to do with a persons past that we are not conscious of that is affecting his sex life or an imbalance in male hormones. Hypnotherapy is a good option too to help resolve past issues. If you contstantly keep trying to show him you "want him" that will put pressure on him. Give it some time, be a little patient and let things happen naturally. I hope all works out for you guys.

These are very interesting questions. Let's begin with the second one.Same financial status for everyone (more or less)I do not see how this can be a stable situation. It will always lead to results which will further induce inequality and bring about poverty, relative at least. If everyone has the same financial status, that means everyone will also have more or less the same propensity to consume which means the market will be structured accordingly. Believe it or not, but a lot of products will actually disappear, many industries will close down, and those people will be out of work - that will cause a drop in their income and cause inequality.People will refuse to do certain jobs- jobs they do not like, find boring, or consider below dignity. If those services are in demand by the society (street sweeping, grave digging for example) and there are too few people doing the job, then wages will soar. People will end up paying more for these services. High wages mean large labour costs to the entrepreneur. Except industries which are purely technologically driven, other industries will face a crunch of entrepreneurs as people will figure out that working as an employee has larger returns. But then, more employees will mean reduction in wages, and entrepreneurship will get a boost. The market will adjust till an equilibrium is reached. At this equilibrium, there will be employees as well as entrepreneurs, and normally, both do not belong to the same financial class. We can formulate many more such situations, but I guess you get my point.Coming to the first question- how do poor people affect the economy. From the three paragraphs above, you can see some effects already - they are consumers of specific industries, they help keep labour costs low and provide an incentive to entrepreneurship, and they get so much of our work done.On the other hand, poor people also affect the economy by requiring subsidies, thus causing governments to spend and sometimes spend so much that they incur deficits. They stimulate considerable research, funding of internal security, and are also known to cause great upheavals in the economy and the society if the going gets too tough - the French Revolution can be a broad example.

In all seriousness, would having a tattoo affect you chances of getting a job?

In all seriousness, in the medical profession a tattoo can affect your chances of getting a job.

Example of a hospital policy and procedures:
West Virginia University Hospitals Policy and Procedures
"Body piercings and tattoos – no visible body or tongue piercing is allowed other than ear piercing. A maximum of two (2) earrings per ear lobe may be worn. Earrings must be professional in appearance. Visible tattoos are not part of the WVU Hospitals overall professional appearance. If hired with visible tattoos, employees will be required to cover them as much as is possible unless such covering of the tattoo creates a safety or infection control issue. Such exceptions must be approved by the department management and the Vice President of Human Resources. All materials used to cover tattoos or piercings must be approved in advance by department management. Any covering of tattoos or piercings that does not support the effort of the Hospital to create a favorable impression to our patients will not be permitted." http://wvuheducation.com/LinkClick.aspx?...

Whether or not right or wrong, policies and procedures aren't going away any time soon!

If you go to work for a hospital or other organization that has an employee handbook that indicates something like the above policy on tattoos and piercings, then you will have to follow the policies and procedures. So if it is 90 degrees where you live, you will have to cover up your arms at all times. If you violate the policy and don't cover up your tattoos, then yes you will get fired if you don't follow policies and procedures.
