Is It Possible To Get An Extra Pay As You Go Electric Meter Installed In A Shared House

How do you transfer electricity tokens to another meter?

Hmmm well this depends on why you need to transfer the units. As back ground I own a small company providing prepaid smart electricity meters to private building and we get this problem a lot. There are several reasons why one would want to transfer unit and are covered below. But firstly one should know that it is not possible to debit units from a meter as it would be too open to Fraud. The easy one first. If the meter is broken and the Supply company is changing the meter they will give you the credit back the next time you recharge your prepaid meter. Make sure you take a picture of the meter before it is changed or have the Technician give you a note with the number of units owed. You have recharged the wrong meter. Happens regularly in Apartment buildings. The easiest is to ask the person who lives in the other apartment to refund you (does not always work) as a small company we can add a debit to the wrongly credited meter so that the other apartment will pay eventually. In a couple of cases where the properties were brand new and it happened to a new tenant and the apartment they recharged was empty, we exchanged the meters physically. We would usually charge for the site visit but in most case we were on site finishing some works. We have had clients move apartment and have again Physically moved the meters. Please note tat this can only happen within the same building. Its only worth the time and trouble to do this when the values are high as the cost of solving the problem can out way the benefit.Hope this helps.

How do you install an electric meter on an outdoor hot tub?

My downstairs neighbor and I split the electric bill 50/50 plus $30 extra to him per 60 days to cover hot tub electric expense. Just got a $600 electric bill and I'm sure its due to the hot tub. Someone on YA recommended I have a meter installed for just the hot tub. Sounds like a good Idea if its possible.

I asked the landlady if I could put in a Killawatt but she doesn't want me to do that. I asked him to turn it off for the winter or put it on a timer and he refused to do those things also.

Do you have some good tips to lower your electric bill?

I can answer this since I work for an electric utility. :)

The best ways are to unplug appliances and things you don't use often as things that are plugged in still draw in energy even if they are turned off.

Switch to CFL lightbulbs.

Set your thermostat to 78 in the summer and 68 in the winter when you are home. And raise it 3-4 degrees during the summer if you are gone during the day. And lower it 3 -4 degrees during the winter if you are gone during the day. Or you can buy a programmable thermostat that will adjust at different times of the day so you don't have to mess with it.

Turn your water heater temp down to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Or you can even buy a timer for it and have it cut off during the day when you aren't home or in the middle of the night when you are asleep. You can also buy a blanket for it to help keep the heat in.

Also if you live in an older home the windows aren't as efficient and tend to leak a lot of air through. So outdoor air will go in and indoor air will go out.

Only use the cold water setting on your washer. It keeps from the water heater having to turn on to warm up more water. And always wash full loads. Try not to run your dryer for longer than necessary also.

Digital picture frames use as much energy as your washing machine or fridge.

We live in a 2500 sq ft home and our electric bill averages about $200 a month. My MIL lives in a 1500 sq ft house and hers is close to $500 a month. She keeps her A/C at 70 during the summer and winter, they have their water heater turned up to who knows what. I get scalded hands everytime I use her kitchen sink. And they leave lights on ALL the time.

Roommate uses more electronics, is half/half fair on the electric bill?

My roommate is throwing a fit because our electric bill for this month is $130, $40 dollars more than usual. She says this is because I've been playing Xbox 360 and using my computer too much. About 3 weeks ago we converted our bedroom into an entertainment center, where I keep my computer and Xbox in. My roommate usually hangs out in the living room now. It's ever since this split that our bill has gone up. I believe it's because we're using two rooms all the time now, which means double the lighting costs and television costs. She says it's because I have my computer and Xbox on all the time. I recently read that a computer doesn't use that much electricity, and leaving it on during the day doesn't add much to the bill. I am always sure to turn it off during night. I only play Xbox 1-3 hours a day. The TV I use is a 32 inch LCD. She uses an old tube in the living room, which I've read uses more power. Before we changed up the room, we both mainly used the

Can I install two AC's of 1.5 ton each with a single phase supply of 230 V, 50 HZ?

Single Phase connection is no problem at all. The 1.5Ton AC will also run on single phase only. The only thing you need to worry about is the sanctioned maximum load that you have for your house connection from the electricity distribution utility (This can be verified from the monthly bill). The total load of all the electrical appliances running simultaneously in your house should not exceed this value for 2 reasons: 1. You would be fined / charged extra on exceeding the sanctioned load. 2. The electrical cable supplying the power to your house is usually rated to handle this load value and there is a risk of this cable getting overheated etc.A typical rule of thumb for a 1.5Ton AC on power consumption is 2KW. Hope this helps!
