Is It Possible To Take Two Weeks Off From A Part Time Job If I Tell My Manager A Month Or So Ahead

How to manage two part time jobs and college?

So I recently have two part time jobs. One of them I've been working for a week now and the other I'm waiting to get trained. Also I go to community college at the moment, but going to take time off next semester. The real issue is that I have to handle my schedule for a month and half between my two part time jobs and school. Is it possible? Will my first job terminante me? For the second job I'm working early morning shift since I have school in the afternoon, however, they want me to work more during the weekend. While my first job randomly assigns me shifts during the weekend due to the other coworker's availability. I work mostly closing shifts for the first job and some afternoon shifts during the weekend. Second job I'm waiting and will be talking to my manager sometime this week since he needs to talk to me about it. I don't want to lose my second job since it's my dream part time job. My first job allows me to quit without any reason after 3 months later. Overall should I A) Quit my first job after 3 months
B) Is it possible?
C) How to manage it all
D) Should I take one class next semester while working two part time jobs

My boss won’t let me take time off ever. What can I do?

I’ve been a receptionist for the past two years - so I’ve accumulated a lot of pto and my boss will not let me take personal time ever. If I do want to take personal time, she has to know exactly what I’m doing and exactly what time I’ll be back and I have to let her know well in advance. Or she’ll ask me if this “appointment” (it’s usually an interview so I can get out of this company) was scheduled a few weeks ago and why I’m now just telling her about it.

For example, on my daughters last day of 4th grade last year, they had a half day. My husband and I wanted to do something fun with her to celebrate. I asked my boss on Monday of that week if I could take a half day to go out with them. My boss told me no even though I had the time to take. So frustrating... lesson learned in that situation was to not tell my boss what I’m doing or tell her I have an appointment - that’s the only time she’ll let me take time off.

I understand that I’m a receptionist and it’s hard to find coverage but I’m entitled to my own pto. Is this something I can report to hr?

How to take 2 weeks off of walmart?

It shouldn't be a problem. They've got at least 3/4 a year to figure out who will cover your position while you're gone. What you need to do is go into the Wire from a computer in Personnel or elsewhere when you're clocked in. At the top of the page, click on Me @ Walmart (or something similar) and in Tools and Reports you'll see a link for ETA. Using ETA you can request time off. If you're part time, you'll want to select "Unpaid time off" and choose the reason and dates you'll need. Once you've done that, speak to your department's assistant manager (ask your supervisor or sponsor if you're unsure who that is). Explain why you need the time off and how grateful you'll be once it's approved. I'm sure they'll be willing to work with you.

The dates you'll be requesting off are far enough ahead of time (over a month away) and not during the "blackout dates" (anything from October - January), which means unless it's in the middle of your store's dreaded inventory time there shouldn't be any reason why they would decline your request. If the manager you spoke with seemed like they didn't want to work with you, it's possible that they're surprised that you would plan so far in advance.

Only a salaried member of management (assistant manager, co-manager, shift manager, store manager--but not department managers, CSM/CSS, ZMS) can approve or deny your request. Since you didn't say how long ago you previously worked for Walmart, I don't know if they may have changed the approval procedures. You may have inadvertently asked a manager who doesn't have the ability to approve your time off.

When you go into the computer system to put in your RTO (request for time off) you'll need to know the exact dates, but there's no reason why you should not go ahead and start talking to management. Assistant managers change departments every 6 months, so just because someone seems unwilling to work with you doesn't mean they'll be around too long after the new year. You can also go above their head and speak with the shift/co-manager or even your store manager. Your request is far enough in advance that I'm sure you'll not run into too many road blocks. Good luck!

How soon can you request time off of work after getting a job?

I just got a job at sears tonight (my first job), and they said just make sure you request it off 2 weeks in advance. It sounds bad to request time off right away, but I've had this 4 day weekend thing later this month planned for 6 months. We've already made reservations for the hotel, and I can't bail on my friend now. It's only 3.5 weeks away. Should I request time off as soon as I can, or wait until the exact 2 week notice?

I told my manager about this in the interview before she hired me. But I just feel weird requesting time off so soon,

Full-Time Student (18 units): Should I quit my part-time job? How can I do so without burning bridges?

Hello all,

Last year I started working for a restaurant, 25 - 30 hours during the school year. Huge mistake. I didn't realize how hard working and studying would be. Only a freshman, I was working nights and weekends, constantly staying up late and going to school the following morning. I struggled to balance working, family, and school. My body even developed a physical reaction (seborrheic dermatitis) due to stress. You get the picture.

I am starting my second year of college next week. I told my boss I needed her to cooperate with the fact that school is my priority, but she said she still needs me on all these shifts. My dad told me I need to give my two weeks notice if they won't work with my needs because the business is their problem, not mine. My mom said I shouldn't quit until I find a new job.

The reason I need some kind of income while in school is because I pay for my own tuition, books, car insurance, gas, and self-care expenses (dentist appointments, visit co-pays, etc.) So yes, I need at least a part-time job. But I can't be somewhere that doesn't respect the fact that I am a student.

I am really torn. I know I could find another job, but I just don't want to burn bridges. Campus jobs are great because they are usually no more than 15 hours a week and they allow a great balance, usually no nights and weekends. But if I quit, I will always need to find work during breaks. Help! What would you do?
