Is It Stupid To Just Work Straight After High School And Not Get Very Far

High School Summer Reading=stupid?

I believe that it is; I am required to read two novels every summer, in my high school and then do multiple reports and projects on them. The work is due the first day of school and we, the class, are then later tested on the material.

I feel that this obstructs the summer of High School students, what do you think?

Also, if I were to have chosen more AP courses (which suck at my high school), I would have been given summer work for Calculus and History, on top of English. That includes, reading textbooks and doing pages of work, all due on the first day of school...this is ridiculous. How are we supposed to perform well if we are never given a break?

How did the "cool kids" from your high school turn out?

Well, I've only been to two highschools. The one I'm currently going to, and one in the U.S.I called a friend to help me out, since I still have a year book, I asked her what happened to these so called “cool kids”, and how they turned out after 3 years.Credit to her for helping. That one guy who bullied everyone:He landed in a jail for beating up a girl last year. The guy who always wanted to fight everyone:Also jail. The one popular girl, who called everyone a slut:She had 12 boyfriends, and has two kids. So who's the slut now?The one fat kid, who was kinda a nerd:He lost weight, and now has a girlfriend. The one girl who everyone kinda liked. She moved back to Russia after the school year. That one slavic foreign smartass guy, who was pretty chill:He does comedy standups for the schools talent show every year, everyone likes him.The guy who everyone bullied:He now plays football, and he's pretty muscular. The guy who people knew, kinda liked who was a dancer:He moved back to Ukraine, but would always dance with this other guy sometimes. The short Mexican kid nobody could understand:He learned English, now plays soccer. Who also has girlfriend. The gangster wannabe guy, who always got into fights:Got changed with assault and shoplifing. He got two years of probation, and three months of jail. The guy who was kinda quiet, funny, who always would dance with the Ukrainian guy:He moved back to Russia with his sister and family. Also is a master in the art of smartassery. (Take a guess who that is.)The nice girl who could beat the hell out of anyone, was close friends with only a few people:She has a job, she volunteers at hospitals, and vets. She also pretty much helped this answer. The small group of Russians:They do the same stuff, just more mature and friendly (Pst remember, this school had a lot of Slavic people in it.)The anorexic girl people bullied:She sadly committed suicide. The one kid who was a greaser. He's a friendly badass. He has a girlfriend too.The girl who plays a lot of instruments. She creates her own music, and she wants to be a music artist..This concludes my list. And thanks to my good ol' comrade for helping out with this answer.

Is getting straight A's in college worth all the stress?

It will be worth it when it's all said and done. Don't kick yourself too hard for getting a B though. If you need the grade to advance to something particular then maybe worry about it a little more. But studying under stress isn't going to help either. Take a break. Play with your kids. Throw in some laundry.

Then you can come back to it fresh.

In response to your ps.... just because you have difficulty with a subject (especially one like algebra) You Are Not Dumb. You are very intelligent. First, you have the desire to improve yourself, whether for your kids, for more income, or just to better yourself or all 3... That's not dumb. Second, you were smart enough to reach out and seek advice when you were frustrated.
My advice to you is to find someone in your class who is good at this subject and have a study session or two with them. Also, many tutors advertise on school bulletin boards for very reasonable rates, they know their market is struggling college students. Whatever you do don't give up your dreams.

Good Luck!

I HATE high school, how can i survive another 3 years?!?

I hate high school so much. Its just what everyone said it was, stupid drama, depression, stupid studying >.>
I just went through my first year of high school and i came out twisted! Ive barely enjoyed my summer at all. I keep thinking about how im gonna have to endure 3 more years of this crap. I barely took it this year and i came in feeling pretty confident. Now that ive been broken at the base of my resolve i cant see myself enduring it anymore. Its absolutely horrible, i didnt even take any ap or honors classes either and i still had an incredibly hard time. I get so depressed when i ask any of my smart friends and they rnt even phased. Not phased nor eaten by all of the work. I tried so hard to work but i just get swamped in projects and work. In fact ive got a summer reading project to do, but just the thought of school reminds me of how much i hate it and i dont have the energy to get started or even look at the project i have to do. How am i gonna survive highschool?

Is cheating in high school ever okay? All it is is mountains of tests on stupid, irrelevant-to-life subjects, college level classes, scientific equations, and advanced complex math. None of it has to do with life, so why do I need to know it?

Absolutely! You should cheat as frequently as you can. I mean, try not to get caught, but if you do, it’s not that bad. Just keep cheating. It’s going to work out great for you in the long run. I mean, let’s look at some examples:Yup. Super successful. Won 7 Tours de France. What more could you want out of life? This guy got to take a ride in a helicopter!Thumbs up to cheating! This guy got to hit more home runs than anyone and get a whole new hat size! The problem with cheating is that it’s easy. It doesn’t make you more awesome, or stronger, or more capable, or more intelligent. It just gets you through the day. But tomorrow, people think you’re awesome, strong, capable, and intelligent. So you have to deliver, or you’ll be discovered as a cheat. So you cheat some more. But now people think you’re really awesome, strong, capable, and intelligent. You see where this is going: Cheaters almost always get caught. Or else they give up on cheating.Either way, you end up in a far worse place than you would have had you just worked through the problems you face.So cheat all you want. It’ll be great…for a while. Then, one day, when everyone knows just how splendid you are, when your reputation couldn’t be more stellar, you’ll be discovered for the fraud, the liar, the cheat that you are.Armstrong lost his endorsements and his championships. Nixon resigned in disgrace. Clinton nearly got kicked out of office, and was an anchor on his wife’s ambitions. Bonds will be forever denied the Hall of Fame, his amazing achievements scorned and derided.Try not to break any bones on your fall from grace.
