Is It True That A Cat

Is it true that cats a baby killers?

No. It's an old wives tale.

Is it true that cat's urine glow in the dark?

glow what???

Is it true a cat sucks the air out of a baby?

CAT'S WILL LICK THE BABY IN THE FACE AND MOUTH BECAUSE THEY SMELL MILK ON THE BABIES BREATH AND IT ACTUALLY CAN SUFFOCATE THE BABY.FACT!

Is it true cats don't meow at other cats?

Not true. My cats meow at each other, and also at the neighbours’ cats.Cats meow mostly to communicate with humans (because we humans are too stupid to understand body language, so the cats vocalise to get our attention). But sometimes cats also meow at other cats. When my black cat Sulu and the neighbour’s tabby have their weekly negotiations over who owns the boundary wall this week, they stare at each other until one submits and walks away backwards. On these occasions, they sometimes also communicate with meows. Sulu has a ‘meow’ that sounds soft, feeble and almost plaintive to me, but that seems to intimidate the other cat. Whenever Sulu uses that meow, his rights to the boundary wall are assured for a week. :-)Here’s a picture of one of their weekly negotiations. When Sulu tells Bosley “Meow”, he wins the argument. Bosley accepts it and walks away.Update: I have three cats now, and they miaow at each other. It’s not their main form of communication - they mostly use body language and telepathy - but sometimes they miaow. When they miaow, it seems to be mostly to say “Come, let’s play.”Our new neighbour cats miaow too. One is particularly chatty. He seems to say, “Hey, kitties. You seem a nice group, and you have a fine territory. Your games look fun. May I join you?” My cats seem quite friendly towards him, though they haven’t invited him to join their games yet.Another cat sometimes encroaches uninvited, and my cats miaow at him and he at them. It’s pretty clear what they’re saying to each other: “This is our territory. Keep out!” - “See if I care. I’ll claim your territory, just wait.” - “This is the final warning: get out, or you’ll feel our wrath!”So, yes, cats definitely miaow to communicate with each other. Just not as much as they miaow to communicate with humans.

Is it true that cats can suffocate you in your sleep ?

Because most cats like to sleep on their owners chest that's where that story comes from. I tell my friends that have infant baby's to be more careful. I've had cats all my life and have had them sleep close up to my face. I never felt any sort of suffocation. But i would be concerned if an animal is sleeping with a young baby. My grandmother said the same thing. LOL.
Anyhow i'm still breathing after owning 20 cats since the age of 14.
In my 40's now.

Is it true that a cat needs another cat to keep company?

I have three cats. Cat number two is a ball of play energy and demands a playmate. When she did not have one she got very wound up and edgy, and no matter how much I played with her it was not enough. I was not a cat.She tends to give love nips, and when she had no playmate she bit *very* hard.Cat three moved in to be a playmate for cat two. When cat two was gone for a while she obviously missed having a playmate, and would have been unhappy had two not come home.Cat number one wishes the other two would go away. She would LOVE to be an only cat. She spends most of the day hanging put on the deck and napping in beams of sunlight, punctuated by coming to me for affection. When the other two play she retreats to a high perch and waits it out.Cats, like people, differ. Contrary to stereotype house cats *are* a social species, and in wild establish colonies as well as close individual friendships (ie, “bonded pairs”.) So that instinct is definitely there. But unlike dogs they are not pack animals, so they are also capable of functioning alone. Some prefer it. Some are downright hostile to other cats. This may reflect their nature, or their history. My cat number one came from a household with an agressive cat who made her life hell. All she wants now is peace and quiet, a territory she feels secure in, and a human to love. The only rule of thumb is that young cats need playmates, so you should not just get one kitten. They are little balls of wild play energy and can get anxious or destructive when there is no one around, and also, they need other cats to learn claw etiquette. If you go to Petfinder . com and input your zip code and what kind of cat you are looking for, you will get listings of available cats in your area, with good personality writeups. Cats who would prefer to live alone are noted. You can even filter your search search for cats who don’t want to live with other cats.“Other cats? What other cats?”

Is it true that some people in China eat dogs and cats?

Yes, people in certain areas of China do eat dog meat.  I used to think only the Southerners eat dog meat, until I went to Dongbei (northeast China), and I saw signs advertising dog meat at restaurants. When I lived in Hong Kong in my childhood, there was a guy who served as a guard man at our building, and I used to admire the little puppies he raised.  Then when the puppies got a little older, they would disappear.  I was too young to know what was really going on at first, until I got to about 10 years old and heard about the practice of dog eating.  I finally confronted the guard man about his puppies, and he let out a weird laugh.  That was really sick, and it totally grossed me out.  I hated that guy ever since.I think Chinese in the north eat dog meat because they believe the meat would help them better withstand the cold.   This practice is shared in Korea as well.  I saw Korean restaurants in Dongdan (border area between China and North Korea) advertising dog meat as well.  But mind you, dog meat is not just consumed in China and Korea, but in Switzerland and France as well. Here are a couple links that listed the practice of dog eating in Switzerland and France over history (though in France, some say the act of dog eating was only done during wars and other extreme times.)Dogs and cats 'still eaten in Switzerland' Dog meat - eating French

Is it true that a cat can blind a dog with his/her claws?

I have not actually seen it, but it is most definitly possible. My cat Benjamenweighed 16 lbs. at his physical peak, and the neighbor’s chow chased him up a tree.Benjamen reached down and swiped its nose, requiring a trip to the vet and 5 stitches. That was just one swipe.Imagine if he was cornered and had gotten an eye instead of the nose.I suspect that if he was cornered he would have struck more than once.
