Why does America allow civilians to own guns? Why do most countries in Europe and Canada restrict civilians owning guns and enjoy extremely lower crime rate?
Our founders studied the governments of the world and of history and found that people were much more likely to be hurt by their own government than by invaders from outside. They realized that a well armed citizenry was a great deterrent to tyrannical government.If you want to know why they broke their bond with England, it might be good to read the Declaration of Independence. It lists the crimes King George was committing against the colonists. Many were dying at the hands of the Brits and it was time to sever ties and be free.America is a great experiment in self governance. Instead of a government that rules over the people, the government exists to protect and serve the people, and the people rule over the government. This was the opposite of any other nation on earth in the history of the world.When we give money and guns to the government, we give them power. When we take money and guns from the people, the people lose power. It seems liberals want to take money, guns, and religion from the people and give all the power to the government.Every mass murdering dictator first takes your guns and religion. Think about that. If the Jews had had guns, they would not have burned. The first thing the communists did when they took over Russia was to close the churches and take the guns. NAZI Germany did the same thing. It’s the dictator’s way. They cannot easily control a population that is armed to protect themselves against they tyrants.If you want to see what liberal policies do, look at Detroit and Chicago. Both have been run exclusively by liberals for over 50 years. Both are poverty stricken war zones with high income inequality. Hollywood is the same.Where there are open carry laws, violent crime goes down. Liberals like to say that gun crime goes down when you take away guns, but what they don’t tell you is that violent crime goes up. Rape, assault, and murder go up. More people are killed by knives and hammers than by guns.Guns save lives. Many times guns are used to ward off potential attackers. Many times without a shot being fired. Violent criminals are often deterred just by someone brandishing a gun.Taking guns from the innocent does not protect them from the violent. I’m not sure why liberals like to leave potential victims powerless and defenseless.
