Is It Truth That People With Ocd Can .

OCD and left handed people...?

I read someones answer before and they said OCD is related to to much left side of the brain, so something.

Is this true?

If so, would that mean right handed people have a high risk of OCD?

(Left handed people are usually better at art because they use the right side of their brain which is the 'arty' side. While right handed people are better at science because they use the left side of their brain more) That's what I'm basing this question on by the way...

Does Jesus or God still love people with ocd?

God loves you very much. What you have is a brain chemistry
disorder. Why would you think that God would not love you for something you cannot control? It is the devil that wants you to feel unworthy of God's love. But you do not have to worry, Jesus paid the price so that you could be redeemed for all sin. Have you accepted the atonement sacrifice of Jesus? Have you asked him to be your Savior? If you have not go to the Lord and confess your sins and your need to accept him into your heart. Then when you get thoughts of being unworthy again, just tell the old devil to go! Tell him he is a liar and that you have been bought and paid for by the blood of Christ. You are a son of the Most High God! There is no reason for you to go around feeling defeated because you will be one of God's kids! Put your head up high and square your shoulders! You are royalty! Cast out those bad thoughts in the name of Jesus! Do not condemn yourself for what you cannot control! Remember, the devil wants you to feel defeated! But he is a LIAR! May the Lord bless you and keep you and make His face shine on you! Read your Bible and go to a Bible based church.

Does the navy allow people with ocd to enlist?

First and foremost, disclose everything fully. Even if your recruiter tells you to stretch the truth, don't comply. Be open and honest. It's best for them to tell you NO now than for you to be partway into your enlistment and get dishonorably discharged for lying about a pre-existing condition.

I am assuming you have been formally diagnosed since you are on RX, in which case you will likely need the full medical history from your doctor.

OCD will most likely disqualify you from MOS's that require secret clearance, but otherwise you may still be able to enlist. Just disclose everything, and speak to the doctor when you get to MEPS.

Be aware that you may not be allowed to have medications with you at basic training unless you get cleared.

Are people with ocd intelligent and creative?

Intelligence and/or creativity is not related to OCD. People with OCD can be intelligent and creative though, just like anyone else. It's not unlike diabetes or heart disease, it does not make one less or more intelligent or creative.

There have been studies showing that people with other mental illnesses are brighter and/or more creative than average, but it's not true all across the board. Some people with bi-polar are very intelligent and creative. Same with schizophrenia, but it's not known why this is so.

Also. see this list of famous people who were/are very creative and intelligent who have/had suffered from serious mental illnesses: http://www.nami.org/Template.cfm?Section...

There's also a saying that, "There's a thin line between brilliance and insanity".

I secretly want people with OCD to die and make space for the healthy. Is this wrong of me?

Yes, for sure.Have you ever thought that a person wanting others (who are already suffering from some kind of distress) to die could have the more severe form of disorder or unbalance in his psychological health?Sometimes healthy looking persons can have deep psychological issues which are often reflected through their desires and actions. This kind of desire or thinking is also an indication of disturbed mental health and a negative mindset that you must get rid of. See how to get rid of negative thoughts and why?First off, stop thinking like this; not for them but for yourself too.Next, analyze your thinking and ask yourself why you have such a harsh feeling for them instead of having a feeling of pity or compassion?Don’t you think, they need your help, your care, your love, not your hatred or rejection?Don’t you think, you must help those you are better than as your duty; not just in this case but in every situation where you see you are in a better position, you must go ahead and offer a helping hand. It’s true that people with disturbing issues can be annoying sometimes but the solution is to treat them well, take them to the psychiatrist for check up or at least think positive for them.REMEMBER, anyone can have any kind of issue, for any reason, at any stage of life.Simply don’t have such feeling for others which you don’t want others to have for you (when you have no fault like OCD patients in your case).OCD can be treated but inhuman feelings from others can make it even worse.Be careful about what you think about yourself and others as your thinking is the No. 1 factor to decide if you are healthy or not. And such thinking pattern is not healthy in any aspect.Stop thinking about others, start thinking about yourself and commit to thinking positive if you really care about your health and happiness.Your thinking, your life, your happiness.

Are people with harm OCD considered "crazy"?

Short answer—no. People with OCD see their symptoms for what they are; they see them as irrational, and to that extent people with OCD are not implicated in the irrationality that is embodied in their own disorder (if that makes any sense). They see their irrational obsessions and compulsions as just that—as irrational. By contrast, people with schizophrenia do not see their symptoms as symptoms: they don’t see their delusions as delusions. So the obsessive-compulsive’s ability to distinguish between truth and falsity, and between right and wrong, is not affected by his condition. What is thus affected is his ability to implement his knowledge. He sees clearly, and he is therefore sane, but his will is damaged, and he is therefore mentally ill (despite being sane). By contrast, the schizophrenic does not see clearly, and is therefore insane, even though his will is intact.

Is it true that people with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) tend to imagine "every" single thing they hear?

From my experience as an OCD sufferer you are always vulnerable to your obsessions or the subject of your obsessions. When your OCD is less dominant , usually a period when your anxiety is low, hearing stuff related to your obsession is treated in the brain similarly to other peoples experience. You hear it and dismiss it, and forget it. During periods of High Anxiety OCD will dominate your thinking and take you places that are the most fearful. In these circumstances your obsessions can easily get you to imagine everything you hear applies also to you. With OCD it is incredibly difficult to dismiss worries and fears, your mind circles the issues seeking reassurance , avoidance ,confrontation, without respite. It is a mental hell that for some spills over into physical routines to help control or overcome these mental anxieties.

Based on brain scans of people with OCD (more brain activity due to obsessive thoughts), could OCD suppress peoples' true intellectual potential?

From a neuroscientific perspective it is not possible to define a person's "true intellectual potential". We can only measure what is the case, and now what could be or would be the case. But since obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a disorder, we can say that it is something that interferes with a person's goals in life. In this sense any disorder detracts from the ability of a person to pursue their goals to their own satisfaction. So any disorder interferes with the ability of a person to pursue what they think is their "potential".This is relevant too: Can OCD affect cognition?Depending on the severity of the illness, people with OCD may have significant difficulty paying attention to tasks assigned them at work or to everyday social conversation because of their preoccupation with intrusive obsessional thoughts and urges to engage in compulsive behaviors. Anxiety accompanies an obsession and a ritual behavior (or a ritual thought) reduces the anxiety.
