Is John Boehner Considered A Minority

Germans only: How is John Boehner's name pronounced?

John Boehner said, “There is no Republican Party. There’s a Trump party. The Republican Party is kind of taking a nap somewhere.” Are any Trumpians at all disturbed by that insight?

Somehow I doubt it. People like Boehner were the reason Trump got elected. The weeping and crying tanman was among the bottom dwellers in the swamp that Trump wanted to drain.Don’t believe me? Then riddle me this.John Boehner was among the most fanatical of drug warriors when it came to marijuana being illegal in any case. Now he says he supports medical marijuana, and potential private recreational use.I guess he’s evolved in his beliefs. Must just be a coincidence that he “evolved” after being hired to be on the board of directors of a medical marijuana company.Go figure

Why is John Boehner resigning?

Outside observation: Multiple reasons, including:He wants to "cash in" - The Tea Party idiots are making being a Congressperson a less profitable and less powerful position than it was formerly. Think that I'm wrong? Who is the Chairman of the House Ways and Means committee? Paul Ryan. What has he done to return that position to its former glory? (Think "Dan" Rostenkowski and Wilbur Mills-levels of power) Nada. The jobs in Congress were steppingstones to personal wealth and the Tea Party is slowly eroding that. Boehner wants out while he can still cash in on his influence. He has no power - The "I'm not going to compromise with those SOBs" wing of his party has taken over and he has lost control. Not much point in being Speaker of the House when the troops are mutiny on nearly  daily basis. He's reached the plateau of his political career - It was unlikely that John Boehner was ever going to be  candidate (much less a successful one) for President or even Vice President. He was never going to be Governor of Ohio or even  senator from that state. It was unlikely that he would have been chosen for a major political appointment meaning that as Speaker, he had reached his limit. With that falling apart and not be able to go anywhere else, Boehner decided to get off the train at the end of the line. He's unhappy - People often sell this one short...but if your job sucks and you are unhappy all of the time, then quitting simply becomes easier, not more difficult. Boehner can easily become a well-paid lobbyist, either in Washington D.C. or back home in Ohio. That way he can play golf more, spend time with his family, enjoy whatever hobbies he might have and he'll still be earning 5X more (or greater) annually than he was as the Speaker. Not a bad deal and it might include the happiness that his current position lacks.Something is coming. Something big - The Denny Hastert scandal (The former Speaker of the House accused of trying to launder money to pay off allegations of sexual abuse of minors) has dropped out of sight a little too quickly. Either this was because it was going to be too embarrassing for the GOP itself and encompass a few more members. Or because something else is brewing that is far bigger and far more unpleasant. Rather than riding out that particular storm, Boehner got going while the "gettin" was good.I would suggest waiting 3-6 months to discover the real reasons behind Boehner's sudden decision. They might be surprising.

What is John Boehner's annual salary?

$223,500.Boehner is slated to receive a $30,100 pay increase next year when he becomes Speaker of the House. His annual salary will be $223,500. The base pay for House and Senate lawmakers is $174,000, while majority and minority leaders each make $193,400 per year.

Can any Republican tell me exactly how John Boehner said Congress would pay for ALL of the Rich Tax Breaks?

You're asking too much of any of the Republicans because John Boehner only explained how he would pay for 6 Billion of the expected 3 Trillion dollars that the tax breaks to the rich will cost.

Why was John Boehner chosen to be the Speaker of the House?

His rise is a perhaps the last remaining effect of the now-largely-forgotten Jack Abramoff scandal of 2006. A Gingrich lieutenant active in the original GOP takeover of the House in 1994, he was enough of a leadership player, but the least connected to Delay and Abramoff and thus was in position to benefit from a need to reform. A pall fell over the House in 2005  with the Jack Abramoff scandals - the lobbyist was convicted of bribing lawmakers, and the indictment and resignation of former House Majority Leader Tom Delay in 2006.  there can be little doubt that Boehner benefited from the GOP's (prescient) fears of losing the House in that year, and also from a little hubris on the part of now Senator Roy Blunt of MO.AbramoffDelay retired after his 2005 indictment on conspiracy to violate Texas election law. (convicted in 2011, this has since been reversed)  He was investigated but not charged in the Abramoff affair, though two Delay staff members were.  Roy Blunt was a close ally and announced his intention to replace him.   He  released a statement saying he  had a majority of the GOP members of the House.  Boehner ran a silent  but effective campaign and tied his campaign to lobbyist reform.      However a first ballot in a three-way race showed him to be 7 votes short of majority.  On  the second ballot, Feb 1st 2006,  members flocked to Boehner, who won  122 to 109.   Media reports suggested that though a private vote, many members were making a statement that they were wiping clean on lobbying reform and Delay in advance of the 2006 elections.  Boehner's rise to replace Tom Delay as GOP House leader was a little surprising, it is true that when he won the minority leader gig a few newspapers had to include this line.Boehner  (pronounced BAY-ner)...but just a little -- he was no upstart, no surprise candidate - he had worked his way up, 8 terms   Elected in 1990 he was an ally of New Gingrich from the beginning and ran his campaign to become Speaker.   Boehner held various positions during the GOP's reign in the House.  Roy Blunt also held a variety of postions but was a closer ally to Tom Delay.  As majority leader 2007 to 2010, he was then an obvious choice for Speaker in 2011.    He received the votes of all 242 GOP members.  This was not true in 2013, where he lost a few votes.

Assisting the majority and minority party leaders in both houses are members called __________. Their role is?

C. Majority Whips and Minority Whips.

The Majority Whip is an elected member of the U.S. House of Representatives who assists the Speaker of the House and the Majority Leader to coordinate ideas on and garner support for proposed legislation. This position, unlike Speaker of the House, was not mandated by the Constitution. Instead, it emerged near the beginning of the 20th century.

The Minority Whip is a member of the minority party in the U.S. House of Representatives who assists the Minority Leader in coordinating the party caucus in its responses to legislation and other matters.
