Is Knowledge Helping The World Today Or Destroying The World Today

Is religion single handingly destroying the world?

It sure as hell isn't helping anything.

What events in history destroyed great amounts of knowledge now unavailable to us?

The grand library of Baghdad which had many precious scrolls and many Greek books  translated in Persian and arabic along with the originals  were destroyed by mongols (The Grand Library of Baghdad, containing countless precious historical documents and books on subjects ranging from medicine to astronomy, was destroyed. Survivors said that the waters of the Tigris ran black with ink from the enormous quantities of books flung into the river and red from the blood of the scientists and philosophers killed.)

Is rap and hip hop music destroying the world? turning girls into whores, and guys into wana be gangsters?

Maybe it is. I love rap music but it's getting more and more mindless. but you can't blame rappers, they lived in the ghettos and are just reflecting their experiences. Plus, only some rappers rap about stupid things, others actually have a positive message in their music.
And it's not like rap music is the only genre with bad influences. Rockers can't seem to talk about anything but sex and heavy metal is just garbage.

Will science technology destroy the world?

All man needed two thousand years ago was food to keep his body alive, shelter to stay dry and safe, clothes to stay warm, shoes to protect his feet, and a companion to keep a healthy mind. If he had nothing else, that was perfectly fine. Today, things are no different. Man needs nothing but those things. His needs have not changed. But...Man's insatiable desire to drift towards non-necessity is already an indication of future destruction of man. And Science is the tool being used to get the job done. All in the name of progress. An illusion. An excuse. Non-necessity defined as necessity constantly fuels such a state of mind. Necessity was once clearly defined. But today this is not the case. Today's generation has already missed out on the opportunity to learn. Self indulgence and a sense of entitlement have replaced proper sensibilities. The foolish people of the world cannot see past the short term. In that sense, science seems a good idea. Better clothes. Better shoes. Better home. But "better" is not a necessity. Rather, it is a foolish choice. Foolish because in the short term it seems all right. But truthfully, man becomes dependent upon non-necessity. It becomes a "new necessity". So getting what you want becomes the need. This twisting of the fundamental purpose of our existence will run a course that leads further and further away from what kept us here for so many centuries. Technology is a result of science. And the tool that it is will ultimately become the weapon against us all in the long run. A race of humans so self serving that all humanity will grow colder and less respective of life in general. Destruction is inevitable in the long run.

What is the most sinful city in the world today that can be compared to ancient Sodom and Gomorrah?

Take your pick! God didn't punish he annihilated them. If you're talking about cities in the US. Two come immediately to my mind. Las Vegas and New Orleans. They practice voodoo, and dark magic, in Orleans. Plus all the other atrocities there. Witches run rampant in the city. I hate to say this, but Katrina is only the beginning. I don't believe god sent Katrina there. Had he done, there would be nothing left of the place. And the promise to mankind he would never again destroy by water. Hence the rainbow. He wouldn't destroy a city as long as there is some righteous people people there. Do you remember the bargain with lot? God is just and kind. The haggling between him and lot went from 50 down to 10. If Lot had indeed found only 10 righteous people. He wouldn't have had them annihilated. There are still some righteousness in Orleans. Maybe Archangel Gabriel wouldn't have destroyed Sodom had him and the other angel had not been accosted on the street. Or if Lot hadn't been willing to sacrifice his own virgin daughters to them. ( the men in the street)Vegas, I have a step sister and brother who lives there. My brother is a history teacher, my sister married a billionaire. I don't know if their righteous. But I know they are both kind and loving. As far as everyone else who lives there I don't know, that's why it's called sin city. Sin is what it was built on. As long as there's true righteousness somewhere, God will remove those people first. The same as he did with Lot and his family. Now the question is, which one's would you choose? Thanks for the question, and for reading this. God bless you always.

What would the world be like today if Hitler’s “heavy water” factory was never destroyed?

Virtually identical. The German nuclear weapons project was years behind the Allied ones, very small, and on the wrong track. It could not develop a working device, let alone a weapon that could be delivered against a useful target before the end of the war.Don’t forget, the first US bomb was so heavy, only two Allied strategic bombers could lift the thing, and this was with allied Air supremacy, and escort fighters. The Germans, without a heavy strategic bomber, without long range escort fighters, even if they had a Manhatten project type device, couldn’t get it to London or Paris, let alone New York.In fact, knowing what we know now, it would have been better to allow the project to continue unimpeded, let the Germans waste resources on it, and attack things that were real threats- Uboat pens, fuel refineries etc!

Is technology ruining the world?

Technology isn't bad or good, although throughout history it has proved overwhelmingly good. It can be used for evil just like anything else. You might not be alive without antibiotics or telephones or the abundance of information available for everyone.

Also schools only teach memorization and not real knowledge. They teach memorization because it's measurable and gets them funding.

How would the world today be different, if the Age of Exploration never happened?

An interesting and imaginative question! I imagine India and China would already be the prime economies of the world (as they will be later this century anyway). The Arabs and Islam might be dominating the whole Mediterranean. There would be much less aggression in the world, perhaps even world peace. Somebody else would have overthrown the wicked Aztecs, but the Incas might still be dominant in western South America. People all over Europe maybe would be taking up Hindu and Buddhist faiths more widely than they are already. If the Industrial Revolution hadn't started in England it would have started in Gujerat or Punjab or somewhere else with a dynamic non-stultifying culture and the ideas and technology would have spread peacefully by copying instead of aggressively by colonial imperialism.
