Is Macon Ga A Good Town To Stay A Night In

Activities from Madison Wisconsin to Orlando Florida?

Our family of 4 with two kids 14 and 16, are driving from Madison,Wi. to Orlando, Fl. We wanted to make some fun stops on the way so the drive isn't a nightmare they tell their friends about when returning to school. We have a few things, but nothing much. Any suggestions? We are going to avoid Chicago at all costs.

Is it safe for a white person to live in Macon, GA?

I'm white and was born and raised in Macon. Just like any town, dont go to dark alleys at night and don't be a racist dick. If you have anything against African americans you're going to have a bad time. Macon is very music oriented and heavily influenced by African American culture. If you don't like that, don't move to Macon. If you're going to live anywhere, though, I'd suggest not living by the coliseum hospital. It's not a fun place for anyone of any color.also just clarifying when I say Macon I mean the downtown area. Places like Bass Road near Mabel White church are very very Caucasian.

What does it mean if my package is at the USPS regional destination facility? Will I get my package tomorrow? The distribution center says it's an hour and a half away from my house.

If it is at the regional distribution center, then is being processed to its final destination…which is your local post office. Only your local post office will be able to do the final delivery. THE IMPORTANT thing to check is when it gets to the distribution center. After a certain time, it might get processed there to be delivered to your local PO, but it will be the next day before that happens (they don’t send multiple trucks to all places every day). Wait and keep checking the status. If the status changes to being delivered to your local PO during the night, then it is likely to be delivered the next day. Otherwise, it will be the day after.

What places do you recommend to avoid in Atlanta?

all of them Atlanta people are crazy- ideally avoid bulavard off ponce de leon at night and 10-15th street at night. alone underground atlanta at night. and course that depends on your color Atlanta still has racial issues. and depends how you carry yourself. if u look like easy mark it can get pretty spooky. and down near the penitentiary.. but if u keep your eyes open or with people generally it not bad. Boulevard and such places are famous for crack houses and things and violent so best stay away.

What are the best suggestions for a road trip from Atlanta to San Francisco?

A friend and I did this road trip a few years ago, and we prioritized a mix of quirky tourist traps and outdoorsy things. Of the places we visited, here are the ones I’d recommend.Quirky Tourist TrapsThe Blue Whale on Route 66: It’s a big ceramic whale with a waterslide. There’s not all that much to do here, but if you’re passing through anyways and like weird things or want to buy a unique keepsake from the gift shop, you can check this out.The Center of the Universe: This one is actually pretty cool. It’s an acoustic anomaly such that if you stand in a certain location you can hear your voice echo loudly for no obviously discernible reason. The Clown Motel: This is my favorite quirky tourist trap. I talked to the owner a bit, and he seemed pretty genuine and passionate about running the place. He mentioned to me that he’d tripled the clown inventory since inheriting the motel from its original owner.Outdoorsy ThingsCamping in Colorado: Colorado is one of the prettiest US states and is a great place to do some camping. At the time, I asked a question on Quora to figure out where the best spots were. If I remember right, we ended up camping somewhere in Holy Cross Wilderness.Car camping in general: It’s a cheap and fun alternative to staying in shitty motels every night. If you can’t find anything more interesting in a given area, the KOA sites are usually decent, and they’re very prevalent.Bonneville Salt Flats: We had fun walking around on these. I also tried to drive my car on the flats, and I wouldn’t especially recommend that. Ideally, you should go after dark so that you can see the stars.Arches: One of the most famous US National Parks, it’s got thousands of natural stone arches and is great place to do some day hiking. If you want to camp here, make sure to book well in advance.Yosemite: Just driving through Yosemite is a great experience, but if you’re more ambitious you can do some day hiking or swim in some of the lakes (but be warned: they’re pretty cold).OtherThe LDS Salt Lake Temple: It’s got some cool architecture, and they let non-Mormons into some of the buildings. Just seeing Space Jesus made it worth it as far as I’m concerned.

Hi, as anyone driven from Miami FL to Helen GA ?

Used to drive to that area all the time. Unless I stopped to visit someone I always did it in one day. It's I-75 all the way to Atlanta, so you can stop anywhere along the way when you feel fatigued. The major towns, eg., Valdosta, Tifton, & Macon all have plenty of motels around the I-75 exits. The things to avoid are: (1) Atlanta during rush hours & (2) mountain driving at night if you're not used to it.

How long does it take to drive from Atlanta to Orlando? What is the most scenic route, and where are some cool places to stop on the way?

I've made this drive a few dozen times in my life, as I've resided in both places. The shoot down 75 to the turnpike route is the fastest.  It should take 7 hours + whatever traffic you hit, and how long you stop for food or gas.  Pretty easy drive, not the most scenic: you get a few kitschy roadside attractions near Ashburn, GA like the Crime and punishment museum and a collection of old homesteads that I don't recall the name of.  Some minor attractions appear once you hit the turnpike, but and that point who cares. For scenery: if time isn't a concern, take 75 to 16 outside Macon and head to Savannah.  Come down 95 to Jacksonville and jump over to A1A, which runs along the Ocean from a little South of St. Augustine all the way to Daytona Beach.  Along the Way, you have Savannah, St. Mary's, St. Augustine, and Daytona sights.  This will add about hour and a half to your trip, but if you're looking for scenery it's tough to beat the Ocean views along A1A.  It even makes up for how dreadfully boring I-16 is, thought the Ocmulgee Indian Mounds are just outside Macon. For sightseeing: without adding to much road time to your trip (about 15 min) you could jump on 127 in Perry Ga, and find your way to Andersonville, which has the infamous prison (also a museum and a national cemetery, and across the street in Andersonville city proper you have the only federal monument to erected to an American executed for War Crimes: Henry Wirz).  I don't think it's possible to spend just a few minutes there, but I think it's easy top 5 must-sees in all Georgia.  You then make your way down to Americus and get back to 75 on Lamarr road.  But in Americus you can get your picture taken with the Jimmy Carter Peanut or visit the Habitat 4 Humanity Museum (or on a Lucky Sunday you could catch Pres. Carter teaching Sunday School). If you want it all: by taking 75 down to 10 in Florida to get to Jacksonville I95 and A1A).  But this would probably keep you in the Car for 9 hours, not counting time spent at some of these locations.
