Is Mexican A Race/nationality/both

Is Mexican a race/nationality/both?

Mexican is technically not a race, since Mexicans can be of any background. However being Mexican can be classified as an "ethnicity". Definition of ethnicity:

"eth·nic·i·ty- 1. the fact or state of belonging to a social group that has a common national or cultural tradition."

In Mexico (and many other Latin American countries) nationality and culture usually supersede race. That's not to say that racism doesn't exist within those societies, but Mexicans of different races are more likely to share a cultural bond with one another than with individuals of other nationalities, even if those other individuals happen to share their racial background.

Is Mexican a race or ethnicity?

No. It's neither. It's a multiethnic, multiracial, multicultural nationality and a culture of its own.Primarily, Mexico is a nation-state.There is a Mexican culture. It's a blend, however. It incorporates mainly Spanish and about 2–3 of the largest native cultures (Mexica, Toltec, Maya), with the others (plus European cultures like French, Irish, Germano-Austrian, Italian and American) giving smaller contributions to the whole, coalescing in something unique, distinct and recognizable over the 500 years since 1519.And just like you can go to a Chinatown in major American cities and see the difference, you can still go to, say an Otomi village, see their culture, hear their language and identify it separately, go to Chipilo to hear a dialect of Veneto from the Italian Venetians who migrated there generations ago, or go to Paseo de la Reforma and remark how much its monuments and roundabouts look like Paris.A blend. And a pretty nice one at that, if you consider how many tourists enjoy visiting.

What's my nationality/race/ethnicity?

My mom says I'm Mexican even though I wasn't born or raised in Mexico. Both of my parents were born in Mexico and raised there. I was born in the u.s. and was raised there. I speak Spanish fluently.

What is the difference between race, nationality, ethnicity and religious group?

Race is your color or what you consider yourself. Nationality is the country you were born. Ethnicity actually can be a combination of nationality and religion, language and culture. Religion well you can be of any nationality, ethnic group and race.

I'll give myself as an example. My parent were born in Spain and both are Jewish. I was born in Mexico and I'm Jewish.
My nationality is Mexican. My race I consider myself White/Hispanic. My ethnicity is Jewish/Mexican. My religion is well Judaism.

What race am I if I was born in the US but my Parents are Mexican?

Most likely you are a white, Mexican-American. But you can be of any race…It helps to understand the differences in terminology. A person born in the United States is an American (nationality). Your parents are Mexican…Mexican is a nationality, while Latino or Hispanic is an ethnic group, usually of Mexican, Cuban, Puerto Rican, or other Spanish culture from say South or Central America.Keep in mind that the terms "Hispanic" and "Latino," which are often used interchangeably, do not mean exactly the same thing. Hispanic refers to any ancestry of Spanish decent, while Latino refers to someone from Latin American – so a person from Brazil would be a Latino, but not necessarily a Hispanic, while someone from Spain would be Hispanic, but not Latino. That being said, most Latinos are Hispanic. Either way, Hispanics and/or Latinos can be of any race. So for example, you can be a white Hispanic, or a black Hispanic.Bottom line – you haven’t given enough information to accurately determine your race, but it is clear you are Hispanic/Latino American.
