Help with severe abdominal pain?

For the past six years I've had severe right upper quadrant abdominal pain...a surgeon removed my appendix five years ago and it didn't help. Besides the pain I've experienced diarreah, vomiting, nausea and severe gas. I've had three or four ultrasounds of my abdominal area and they all show up as normal. All blood tests show up as normal. My doctor thought it was my gallbladder but the latest scan came back normal. Anyone have any ideas on what it could be? I'm getting frustrated with getting no where.

I am having severe abdominal pain?

Abdominal/pelvic pain that is similar to that of period cramping may indicate a problem in a reproductive organ (like the pain around your ovaries or uterus).

This includes conditions such as endometriosis (when tissue from the uterus is displaced to somewhere else like the pelvic wall or ovaries), uterine fibroids (thick bands of muscular and fibrous tissue in the uterus), ovarian cysts, ovarian cancer (rare), or pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) infection of the reproductive organs, usually from a sexually transmitted disease.

If you have pain in your ovary area, you might have an ovarian cyst. I have experienced that same type of pain whenever I have had an ovarian cyst. I was also diagnosed with endometriosis last year which caused me severe pelvic pain and intense and painful period cramping.

If a gynaecological reason cannot be found for the pain you are experiencing, then it could be a gastroenterology problem which could be caused by excessive gas, chronic constipation, viral gastroenteritis (stomach flu), IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome), heartburn or indigestion, gastroesophageal reflux, ulcers, cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder) with or without gallstones, appendicitis (inflammation of the appendix), diverticular disease, including inflammation of small pouches that form in the large intestines (diverticulitis), bowel obstruction (in addition to pain, this causes nausea, bloating, vomiting, and inability to pass gas or stool), food allergies, food poisoning (salmonella, shigella), hernia, kidney stones, UTI’s (urinary tract infections), pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) or dissecting abdominal aortic aneurysm (bleeding into the wall of the aorta).

Based on your symptoms and what you wrote, I would recommend that you should see your doctor/gynaecologist, and if nothing is found that you see a gastroenterology specialist just to rule out any serious causes.

Good luck :)

Lower right stomach/abdominal pain?

Hello, I have been having lower right stomach/abdominal pain for the past 4 days. I don't know what it is? Sometimes it feels just like gas pressure. I haven't had constipation or anything. It is just a pain in my lower right stomach/abdominal, usually not severe feeling, just an uncomfortable pain. It doesn't really feel like cramps, I don't think. I don't know how else to explain it, but i've just had this pain for the past 4 days and it's just gotten annoying. I've taken gas-x, but that doesn't really help. Just wanted some advise and any suggestions at to what this could be. Thanks!

Abdominal Pain After Sex or Foreplay?

im 24 and i have endometriosis its kinda hard to expain just look it up. but it really sounds like that is what you got cause when i have sex sometimes it hurts not all the time but sometimes and even a few days later ill hurt. do you have bad or painfull periods?

Upper abdominal pain the week *before* my period. Serious?

Relevant background info: I'm 22 years old, in good general health, and I have been on birth control on and off for over 5 years. My periods are very irregular when I'm not on birth control. My periods (both with and without birth control) are generally medium to light with mild to moderate cramping. I've been on Nuvaring consistently for over a year now. I take it out on the 1st of every month and put a new one in every 8th. (This schedule was approved by my gynecologist when she prescribed it.)

Right around the 20th/21st/22nd of every month, I develop upper abdominal pain that lasts for the full week until my period starts. It's not acid reflux, indigestion, or cramps (not the same location or sensation at all), and I don't have any associated digestive symptoms like constipation, diarrhea, or gas. It's just pain, and sometimes it gets so bad I can't get out of bed or even breathe normally. It hurts bilaterally, but sometimes seems more severe on the right. There's no swelling, bruising, or tenderness in the area. Rolaids, pepto bismol, Immodium, Tylenol, Advil, Excedrin, and Midol don't help. Eating and time of day seem to have little effect on the pain, although it waxes and wanes on its own throughout the day. This pattern has been going on monthly for at least 8 months, and possibly longer. (It took me a while to realize that there was a correlation with my period, so my recall only goes as far back as the records I have of missing work.)

Does anyone know what causes this? Someone mentioned endometriosis, but I'm not sure whether that really fits or not.

Here's the kicker though: I don't have health insurance at the moment, and finances are very tight. Is this important enough to pay out of pocket to see a doctor about? If the next few months go as planned, I should have health insurance again by the fall. Should I wait until then to get checked out? My nuvaring scrip runs out in November, so I will have to have an appointment at that time anyway.

Thanks in advance for your advice :)

Sharp, severe, excruciating lower abdominal pain?

Since you helped me out, I'll help you out. =D

It's truly impossible for anyone to give you a definite answer on yahoo answers. I have my Wilderness First Responder license as you might like to call it, and I would assume it's one of three things. Your appendix could be about to rupture or maybe even ruptured.. It could be a swelling ovarian cyst or maybe possibly even a ruptured ovarian cyst. Since you are a younger women, and ovarian cysts are more common in women in their child-bearing years, it's unlikely. Plus you've only named one symptom (pain in the lower abdomen). Other systems include breast tenderness, weight gain, and increase hair growth overall, just to name three. Again, It could be a swelling/ruptured ovarian cyst, but I obviously cannot evaluate on yahoo answers.

The last thing I can immedietly think about is a fractured rip cage. Is their pain when you breath? Is their pain when you lay down and your chest shrinks down? Is their pain to the touch? Are the pains sudden or is it a consistent pain? Or it is a consistent pain with sharper pains when you breath? Does the pain almost feel like a volt of electricity shocking/charging through you? These are all questions you have to ask yourself.

If it is any of these things, you're going to require proper medical care immedietly. I understand you don't want to go to the doctors because it might seem like you are only seeking attention but you said the last two times, you did have something wrong with you. If you're appendix did rupture, you need medical care. If you do have a swelling/ruptured ovarian disk, you need medical care. If you fractured your rib cage, YOU NEED MEDICAL CARE. It's quite simple, really.

If I had to truly guess, I would assume it's a fractured rib cage or a ruptured appendix. Both require immediate hospitilization and if left untreated can lead to lung erruption, paralyzation, permanent shortness of breath, clammy skin, and possibly even death.

So please, seek medical care as soon as possible.
