Is My Belly Piercing Healed Now

Navel piercing still not healed after a year?

I got a navel piercing last year. It is still not healed. It still bleeds every once in a while. It still had discharge often. I have not changed the piercing, because the professional piercer (who did the piercing for me) said that the piercing must be healed before the piercing can be changed.

However, its been a year now. The piercing is still bruised around the entrance. It still has discharge OFTEN and bleeds once in a while. Sometimes it still "crusty" around the entrance.

I've tried all different types of medicines and creams and everything. I've tried sea salt soaks, saline soaks, everything. I've even gone to the doctor. Its not infected, but then the piercer said it is infected. The doctor says its not infected at all. Over all, the piercing looks almost EXACTLY THE SAME now as it did the day I got it.

I really want to change the piercing already. So whats up? Any advice on what I can do?

I can take a picture of the piercing if needed.

My belly button piercing won't heal?

I have asked this question before. I have just a simple surgical steel curved barbell. It has been looking weird for ages. I had it done in Nov 2008. Everyone automatically assumes that it is a keloid or hypertrophic scarring. It is neither one. The piercing looks great on top. A little bit crusty now and then but nothing other than that. The bottom is a different story. The hole is mostly flat and red. It has never developed a keloid. It constantly "fuses" to the jewelry. It is always crusty. and sometimes what looks like a small chunk of meat hangs out of the hole around the barbell. It does hurt from time to time. I have tried EVERYTHING and researched EVERYWHERE. I know that hydrogen peroxide and alcohol are bad so I don't mess with those. I have tried soap, saline solution, H2Ocean, contact solution, Claires earcare solution, etc. Nothing seems to work. I need to know what is wrong with it and how to fix it.

Can I take a bath with my belly button piercing?

You are able to take a bath after the first few weeks (approx. 2-4 depending on how well you're healing). All you need is that initial heal of skin inside the piercing. Once it's stopped the initial crusting/weeping/scabbing, you should be able to bathe without problems.

IF you must bathe before that, then you should use an all-occlusive bandage, such as tegaderm or nexxcare bandages, that seal all the way around the piercing and are completely waterproof. Just be certain to remove the bandage immediately after your shower and as an extra preventative measure, follow up with your evening sea salt soak as well.

How can i make my navel piercing heal faster?

I've had my piercing done August 2008 and now its June 2009 and my navel piercing is still not healed. Mainly the top hole is the hole not healed and this may be due to me playing sports. But I've heard the best solution sometimes is to pay as little attention to it as possible. But ive tried everything from salt water soaks to sprays and nothing works. it took a while for my cartilage to heal also because i have really sensitive skin. i did have a bump near the top whole that comes and goes but after i ice and use a heat pad it gradually goes away. I JUST WANT IT TO HEAL!! ANY PIERCERS OR EX-PIERCERS OR ANYONE PLEASE HELP!!

also does any one know where to get nice barbells that are either surgical steel, or anything for people with sensitive skin.

thank you

Belly button piercing infected or just healing?

Your navel piercing isn't infected. It is totally normal. A sign of infection that you should look out for is blood, green pus/discharge, throbbing pain, hot to touch, you having a fever, raging red, and the area smells really bad. Using sea salt is right. Do use it 2x a day, its very important. Some piercer recommend letting the client use Dial soap 2x a day. Others don't. To me, I think Dial soap, you can use, but only 1x a day only in the shower to make sure all of the soap residue are washed away, but I don't recommend Dial soap because it is pretty harsh for piercings. I recommend using Provon/Satin which are only order online. I use Provon and my piercings haven't got infected. Soap is used not to clean the piercings, but to clean the surface of the the piercing in which bacteria is. Using antibacterial/microbial soap prevent bacteria on top of the skin into the freshly piercing. HTH.

How bad is the healing process for a navel piercing?

I had mine done when I was 35 and went to a clinic a friend recommended that was run by nurses - this is almost 20 years ago so it was not the norm then! I heard horror stories - one of my doctors said yours looks great but I’ve seen so many young girls come in and it’s scarred etc.I will pass on what I was told and did - buy the nuetrogena face soap (liquid with a pump) - do NOT use antibacterial bec you will not build a tolerance against infection - and clean it every day with that. For the first 2 -3 weeks do a salt soak - put warm water in a glass - healthy dose of salt, press against your naval and lie on your back for 10 minutes - do this 2x per day. I’ll have to check what I used - had to spray the area with an antiseptic after the soak and turn the naval ring throughout the day - white bottle, green cap - I’ll check at home and post what it was later today. I was told it takes a good year for the piercing to fully heal - I think it was a few years before I didn’t notice it at all. I always sprayed the area with the antiseptic and still do today anytime I change my naval ring and keep the Neutrogena face soap on hand to clean that area. If I had ANY redness or soreness in the first year I would do the salt soaks for a couple of days.So - bottom line - not a big deal but you HAVE to take care of it!! I also worked in a job that I had to dress for work so my pantyhose sometimes hit right there and irritated it - but now adays with casual dress and low waists that shouldn’t be a problem!Good Luck!

What are some natural ways to heal an infected navel piercing?

You cannot heal an INFECTION with anything other than antibiotics. If it is a true infection, you MUST see a doctor. Now, if your piercing is simply irritated, there are a few different options. First, make sure that your jewelry is high-quality (implant grade titanium/steel, internally threaded). If it is, make sure that it is appropriately sized. Jewelry that is too small or too large will make a piercing irritated. As for cleaning, most piercings don’t need all that much help. Gentle cleansing with water in the shower and a sterile saline spray once a day(NOT H2Ocean, you need a saline spray that is ONLY water and sodium chloride, like Wound Wash) are really all you should need. Don’t play with it while it’s healing, just leave it alone.

How to fix a crooked navel piercing?

I got my belly button piercing done 6 months ago. Mine is not healed all the way, I can tell it will be a few more months but it is getting there.
I'm not so sure to called it crooked but here is my dellema.
My ring keeps turning to the right side. It is like rolling over to the right side. I try to turn it back into the center so the jewlery looks straight. When I do this it will stay there for a bit but then later on I'll check again and it will be back flipped on its right side. Is there any way to prevent this. When someone else looks at it (i check in the mirror) when its on its right side it still looks at center but I can tell by looking down at it that it is on the right side and now center/straight. It bothers me. I DO NOT want to get it repeirced so please do not suggest that.
Thanks
