Is My Boss Out Of Order

How do I quit my job in order to get my boss angry?

Anger your boss and risk a bad reference, or at least a less than enthusiastic reference. This isn’t a wise desire.Be professional, and leave with dignity and courtesy.

Should I sleep with my husband's boss in order to get him a raise?

Recently, at one of my husband's office parties, his boss propositioned me for some "one on one consulting" and intimated that if I acquiesced to his offer that my husband would be seeing a promotion to assisant comptroller of the company. This would mean an extra $30K a year for us.

My husband does not know about the offer, and I'm not sure that he would want me sacrificing my dignity to get him ahead in the work place. However, I'm thinking about actually going through with it.

I don't consider it cheating, because technically it's all for my husband, and because it's not something I "want" to do.

If I do it, we will be able to get the new Patio Enclosure Patio room that I've been wanting, and also my husband will be able to get a new golf cart.

I think it's a small price to pay. Should I just make the sacrifice for him and do it?

What should I do if my boss went against the doctor’s orders and instructed me to purposely overdose a dying patient so that he/she would pass earlier than normal?

What should I do if my boss went against the doctor’s orders and instructed me to purposely overdose a dying patient so that he/she would pass earlier than normal?Assuming you are an RN, your boss is the charge nurse, and you are in the US?Based on the facts presented, you’d say “no,” and report the request up the line.Edited to add: If you are a nurse, it is not “a patient,” it is “your patient,” and your obligation is to care for your patients.

My boss is too busy to look at my expenses in order to sign them off. It's $4K. It's been over 3 months. What should I do?

Thanks for the A2A. I find this question intriguing because I have spent a majority of my adult career reimbursing expenses for employees. With that being said, I'm going to give my response as an accountant and the importance for all parties involved to have all expenses recorded. Let me start by saying that I learned at the onset of my career that I should never mess with other people's money. I know full well the ramifications that it has on the livelihood of an individual and possibly their family (if applicable). When someone has their money being withheld for one reason or another, this causes a hardship and therefore, a decrease in morale. An unhappy employee is an unproductive employee. I always do everything within the realm of my authority to pay or reimburse people as quickly as possible. Maybe that makes me more moral and ethical than the next person. On the business side (again, speaking as an accountant), the financial statements are currently inaccurate and could be having a negative effect on the company's budget. I don't know the true impact the $4K has on your company but an impact does exist. My advice, explain the situation to the company's accounting department; hopefully it's not outsourced because then your dilemma will fall on deaf ears. Maybe talking to the accounting department will shift the authorization responsibility from your boss to the section that has more of a concern about the company's financial well being. Maybe they will approve the expenses for you or at least have the process expedited by your boss. Maybe they can approve most of the expenses and get you partially paid until the larger expenses are validated. Regardless, talk to the source where the money comes from (as long as it's internal). If the accounting is outsourced, then you may have no other choice than to talk to HR and file a complaint or ruffle feathers by using the chain of command or both. You are being mistreated and it should not be tolerated by anyone that has a heart. Maybe your situation will have new policies and procedures put in place that mandates the expediting of authorizing reimbursable expenses. Maybe the shift of authorization will go from your boss (whom doesn't seem to care) to the department (accounting)  that should care. Either way, hopefully your situation will change for the better. I hope this helps.

Should i tell my boss that im getting a restraining order against my ex-fiancee?

I just got out of an abusive relationship. well kind of.. just the 1st step, i moved out but i am still pacifying him with the falsehoods we will get back together so i feel safe.

If i threaten to brake it off completely he will threaten to ruin my life, my job, family ect and to end his life. He was physically abusive but for the most part more mentally abusive, needing full control.
He is a gun owner but when his parents heard he was constantly threatening me he was going to end his life and going as far as putting the gun to his head (with our 1 year old daughter in the house) they took them away from him.

He has grabbed my throat, thrown me down, gets in my face ect.

I am secretly seeking a way to obtain a restraining order, but i fear when i get it he will go off the deep end and come after me. or come to my work.
in the past he has shown up at my parents where i live now and when i tell him to leave or i will call the cops he say go ahead i can care less if i got to jail. so i think a restraining order wouldn't do me any good or keep me safe.

anyways my boss has no idea what goes on in my personal life but i am afraid he will try and get me fired. should i give them a heads up that i am trying to resolve this issue???

Can I file a restraining order against my boss?

You can file a restraining order. Remember it is a piece of paper. he will get charged if he violates it but It does not keep him from you. You need to go to the police, then to HR and fight your case. You may lose your job. I had a cousin fired for this and she ahs never had another job in that field again. So you need to stand up and fight against him. I would also change your number. You need to do this right away. Also look up the sexual harrassment laws for your state. Read your handbook from your job and see waht it says in there about sexual harrassment. You will need proof of what he is doing. I suggest taking a recorder to work and getting him on tape then filing a police report, restraining order and filing the sexual harrassment on him. But do it right away like tommorrow or the next day you work. Don't waist time. He may get wind of what you are doing and fire you!
Good luck.

What do you want to tell your boss if you want to take a leave out of a sudden?

What do you want to tell your boss if you want to take a leave out of a sudden? You must be honest. Lies have a way of making their way back to management, especially in an age of social media. If you need to take leave with little warning so you can care for a sick relative, deal with problems in your marriage, work on a house you’ve just bought, address ongoing mental and emotional fatigue, or step back for a few weeks due to a mental-health crisis or a personal tragedy that’s left you grieving—those are all legitimate reasons to suddenly take leave. But it’s up to your boss to decide whether to grant it.You need to think about what your boss actually cares about. A long list of reasons or the details of your plans aren’t helpful to your cause. Just plainly, briefly state the reason—“I worked through most holidays last year and didn’t take a vacation, and it’s suddenly become clear to me that I’m burning out. In order to keep my job performance at its peak, I’m requesting leave.” “I’m requesting leave to care for my grandmother, who has entered home hospice care. I have a close relationship with her and know I’ll regret it if I miss this chance to be with her in her last weeks of life.”Also make it clear that you’re prioritizing company operations. “Bobby is familiar with project X but I can also work remotely for several hours a week,” or “Project X is wrapping up and, if I work through this upcoming weekend, I can have it finished before I leave.”Let your boss know when you plan to be back, and if the date is tenuous, let her/him know that you’ll provide regular updates. I had unexpected postpartum complications and took an additional two weeks’ leave. My boss was understanding. The amount of time you’ve worked there, and the amount of good work your boss believes you’ve done for the company, will have a big impact on the reaction to your request. If you’ve been at the company for less than a year, expect a “no.” In fact, many vacation benefits and leave insurance policies won’t kick in until you’ve worked a year or two for the company. If you ask for too much too soon, your boss will think you’re expecting the company to work for you, instead of the other way around. If you want to take leave with little warning because a great vacation opportunity just popped up, you should probably pass on it.

If your boss takes you out for a business dinner is it a faux pas to order the most expensive item on the menu?

Simply put, yes.Any boss has got to where they are by being aware of monitoring costs and being aware of return on investment. If you order the most expensive thing on the menu it will be noticed. If your boss says “ you simply must try the xxx” where xxx is the most expensive thing on the menu the. By all means go ahead.Otherwise, look for something in a middling price range. If you are unsure, you can always ask your boss. “What would you recommend.” Most bosses will be happy to help and suggest something excellent, but I’ll guarantee it will not be the most expensive thing on the menu.
