Is My Cat Normal Or Just Fussy

Is my cat gay or just fussy and flamboyant?

You really should get him fixed. I can understand why hubby is taking the cat's side, but it would be best. I'll dig up something that explains why it's a good idea and then you can print it and show it to him.

He sounds adorable, by the way.

I think it would be great to have a gay male cat. You could dress him up in pretty clothes, do his nails, and he'll probably be very neat. If you toilet trained him he'd probably even remember to put the seat down. And might even raise property values in your neighborhood! (Just being completely silly here).

Why do cats get so fussy if you bring another cat around?

Thanks, Eric Cadow, for your question. You’ve asked me why cats get a bit fussy when another cat comes around. Hmmmm. You must be a human, not a cat. Cats are motivated by two things: survival and territory. My name is Velvet and I’m going to tell you why I get ticked off and fussy. This is how I look. Pretty pissed at the very though of another cat, eh?That other cat, that’s a threat. It’s a threat to both of those things us cats hold dear. It might eat all of MY food. I could die from starvation. I had all I wanted before it showed up. Now I have to eat fast to make sure I get my fill before, like maybe, that other cat comes over to MY dish and starts to take bites of MY food. Like, really? We cats like to be in charge of things. With that other cat showing up, I’m just not sure I want it anywhere near MY cat food.Well, that’s how it might threaten my survival. Don’t worry, I’ve got sharp claws. My human calls them little razors. I’m not going to let that cat eat MY food. You can count on that. It even tries that, man, it gets stitches at the vet’s. Guaranteed.Territory is the other big thing to us cats. That cat that showed up, it’s a threat to that as well. It’s in MY kitchen. It’s at MY scratching post. It just used MY litter box. It never asked. It just walked over and took a big stinking poop. Next thing you know it’ll head-butt or rub against MY human or maybe play with MY toys. Like, do you get it, it’s showing a lot of nerve. DID I ASK IT TO COME HERE? DID I ASK IT TO USE MY STUFF? NO and NO!!I think I’ll just walk over to it, give it a hiss, swat it hard with my paw, and piss on the carpet in front of it. That’s cat for “feck off!” Then it’ll know I mean business and that it has no fecking business coming around MY house and MY possessions. If it can’t figure that out it’s mother probably fell out of a tree and landed on her head or maybe it was born in a filthy litter box! No matter what, it’s outta here!

Does a tapeworm in a cat cause them to be hungry all of the time?

YES. If a tapeworm's grown large enough then it starts depriving the animal of nutrition.

A tapeworm is actually ONE worm. It has a head - called the scolex - that suctions to the intestinal wall. It then grows segments - proglottids - and each of these segments contain both male and female organs and can reproduce more worms. As these segments mature, they break off the worm and come out of the cat. That's why it's vital you scoop the poop EVERY TIME your cat poops if it has a tapeworm otherwise it can end up with another worm.

edit: I'm fussy and mean? LOL! I'm neither - I'm just HONEST and very knowledgeable about cats and care a great deal about their welfare.

Have you treated the cat yet? The easiest way to kill it is a shot that the vet can give your cat. There's the Prazinquantel pills on the market but I think it's about $30-$40 for the bottle of a few pills. And since your cat only needs one pill to kill the worm you're better off just going to the vet. That way you're also sure you're treating the right type of worm.

Does your cat give you the evil stink-eye when you mess up his fur?

I pet her backwards, and only backwards, and I'll continue to do so until she stops licking her behind while sitting in my lap.

Why dont cats eat pork?

My Siamese LOVE pork chops. They eat chicken and pork. They will NOT eat fish or beef.

My cat has a sensitive stomach. What is the best cat food for him? I am very tight on money. I know that Royal Canin works but it far is too expensive

My cat had the same problem. It seemed that no matter what we fed her, she ended up with foul diarrhoea and constant retching. We are on a very tight budget: Royal Canin is as out of our reach for our kitty, as is dining at a 5 star restaurant every night for us. However luckily I have found that there are some cat foods that aren't too expensive and that have left our cat the best she's been. She doesn't have the runs any more - her faeces is finally normal. She rarely retches. The key was - they are "Grain Free". So if you look for any food labelled Grain Free on your supermarket shelf chances are that will work for your cat. Any labelled that work for ours - I'm not sure you'd have the same brands as we are in Australia but we have found success particularly with Fussy Cat and Applaws. Both allow a cat to be fed for the entire week for under $10, and despite feeling a wet food was needed, we've found they don't need to be supplemented by anything else (except plenty of fresh water). Avoid the pet food raw minces - they have additives that have been found to be extremely harmful to cats - even the RSPCA cautions against them. Our cat enjoys human grade meat every once in a while as a treat - like cooked chicken breast, or raw human grade mince. But really, the dry grain free food is everything she needs and she's the healthiest she's been in her 15 years of life. Hope you can find something similar wherever in the world you are. What do you buy someone who's extremely fussy?

Be wise. Don’t use guesswork. When giving gifts to fussy folk it’s better to know, notice something they like and use without fail. If you give them a new one of something they have. Then when their old ones run or wear out? They have and exact replacement. This way you should always be on safe ground whatever gift you choose to give fussy friends and family.

Do cats eat less on some days?

Usually they are not feeling well if they are eating a lot less. A cat can actually go into liver failure pretty quickly by not eating. Check the cats gums to see if they are very pale or have a yellowish tint. Also check if the cat has a fever and make sure the cat is not dehydrated. If you lift up the skin on the back of their neck and the skin does not go back fairly quickly they are dehydrated. A dehydrated cat will not eat or drink hardly anything until they are hydrated. Pale gums are a sign of sickness and low oxygen. The cat can deteroirate fast at this point. Yellowish tinted gums is liver problem and an emergency!!! They are at very high risk of dying and quickly. please check out your cat immediately and take to the vet if signs of sickness Or or isn't eating/drinking.

My cat is constantly begging for food?

Begging for food is a common attention seeking behavior pattern in both dogs and cats. Attention seeking behavior can be due to anxiety, but more commonly it is the result of inadvertent reinforcement by the owner.
The behavior modification technique to deal with begging is to "extinguish" the behavior by removing all rewards. This is easier said than done, because even something as inconsequential as eye contact can be seen as reinforcement by the cat. You have to act as if the cat is not even there when he is engaged in the begging behavior and never give in, as intermittent reinforcement is the strongest reinforcer of objectionable behavior of all.
You might also try distracting the cat with a toy that holds a treat inside or you might try engaging the cat in another activity like playing with a suitable toy. You should also make sure that the cat's environment is rich and engaging so that boredom is not the cause of attention seeking behavior.
Extinction is difficult to pull off if you don't know the possible actions you might be engaged in that are seen as reinforcing the behavior by the cat. You might consider discussing the situation with a Veterinary behavior specialist if the problem persists.
