Is My Knee Pain Just Growing Pains

Pain in Knees; Growing Pains?

Hi everyone. I am 16, I suffered some illnesses when I was 12-14 and, thus, my growth was stunted (I looked like a 12 year old until 14). Anyway, I am finally better and am growing extremely fast.

Recently, when I skateboard, run, etc. my knees (just above the knee cap) ache. It is pretty much only when I am active, although they hurt some other times.

Is this growing pains? My mom said it was.

PS Pain is just a dull ache.

Growing pains in the knees at 18?

I'm 18 years old, im about 6' 160lbs, i have facial hair and hairy legs lol i ran XC and track for 4 years and now im playing basketball and i started realizing serious knee pains for a couple months now. Now it bothers me when i get up and try to walk right away or stay sitting for a long period of time. I went to the doctor and he said its growing pains and everything is fine with my knees. Does this necessarily mean im going to grow taller? or just something thats gonna go away soon?

Knee pains in a 17 year old is it still just growing pains?

Okay basically I've always got knee pains almost like ongoing aches usually late at night or early morning they started when I was around 12 or so and usually only come during the summer months apart from the odd one or two maybe around Halloween and they stopped for maybe 2 years and yeah it's a common re accurance I. Summers I suppose I'm always told its just growing a pains nothing to be worried about I've went doctors and they've said everything seems fine but I'm 17 now and still going through these? Is it growing pains or could it be something else?

Joint pain: Could it be growing pains?

~can skip~
Since I was a little kid I always told my mom my joints hurt (Well, I'd say my elbow or wrist, ect and point to the joint). The doctor ran some tests, not just rheumatology but others because I was severely sick. Nothing came up, but she said the joint test is not perfect, but if it was right I should not have juvinile arthritis. I also had two ganglion cysts in my wrist, one of which was so bad I had it surgically removed in 5th grade.

~read here~
She said maybe it was growing pains, because I'm 14-almost-fifteen. But my joint pain is dull aches when I sit down and just throbbing, overall pain when I walk or stretch. I also have the pain in my fingers and and can feel it when I bend my fingers (like it feels ridgedy). Plus I remember growing pains as feeling different and in the MUSCLE, not JOINT.

Could she be right? Or do you think it is something else? My mom is making a rheumatoloigst appointment, but I was curious as to what you think.

THANK YOU

My knees are burning, is this growing pains?

It very well could be growth related pain, I had similar problems when I was growing quickly. Is there a bulge just below the kneecap at the top of the shin bone? If that's the case you have a condition called Osgoode Schlatter (I doubt I spelled that correctly) that is common in people that grow quickly. I have it, and it's usually nothing to worry about unless you participate in high-impact sports. The condition probably arose as you were in your main puberty growth spurt and now as you enter your late growth spurt and are a little older the condition is flaring up again. The same happened to me when I had my very last growth spurt between 22 and 23. The pain was worse than it had been when I was 13 but it went away when my growth slowed back down. Now that I'm 27 and I'm finally completely done growing the pain is pretty much gone.

Im 18 and i still have growing pains on my knee, is that normal?

My brother had this in his knees as a teenager. He grew quite tall, but was also a bit overweight back then.
He's fine now!

The doctors said the disease (Osgood-Schlatter's disease) was often referred to as "Growing Pains" and it's not serious.

Achy pain behind my knees, like growing pains, at 20 weeks pregnant?

I'm 20 weeks pregnant and just this last week have had aches on the back side of my legs, a little above my knees. It's dull and feels like "growing pains" I remember from being 12 or 13. My husband and I walk every night and I haven't done anything unusual or strenuous. Is this common? Tylenol relieves the pain but I dont want to take it every day for the rest of my pregnancy. What could this be (causes?), will it last?

Is knee pain while growing a direct cause of Osgood-Schlatter disease or can there be other reasons?

There can be tears in the ligaments during sports or a broken knee, nerve entrapment coming from the spine, or a broken knee cap like anyone else.Even fibromyalgia can cause knee pain. Inflammatory joint issues like rheumatoid arthritis can affect young people.

Is knee pain a sign of height growth?

Though there is no direct relation between knee pain and height growth (unless some thyroid issues / chronic issues)Knee pain is usually associated with various factors such as over weight , poor body posture , personal life style , injuries.Consult sports fitness therapist or orthopedician he should guide you better.Don't put the symptoms in google as you would get scared away with the results. it is always better to consult doctor before assuming anything

Knee pain? Im only 15?

Yes, being active can have a big impact on your joint health, even at a young age. Also, carrying a little extra weight, incorrect posture/gaits can affect your knees, hips, and ankles. Yeah, I would assume that it's not arthritis, but very young children can be diagnosed with arthritis. I suggest talking to your doctor, who might recommend a physical therapist or x-rays.
