Money. As usual. This is also where the State Rights thing came into place. The South was knocking out all of this agriculture AND cotton for fabric. The North had gone almost strictly industry. The North had all these empty factories and the huge costs for purchasing raw materials from the South. Great Britain and Europe was more than willing to pay these costs for export of these raw materials, namely cotton. Therefore making these Southern property owners very wealthy. The wealthy business owners of the North took steps to legally change that practice so they would get the raw materials at a cheaper cost and control the commerce. When they tossed the ethical problem of slavery......they brought with them a winning argument over to their side. If the Southerners had no slaves, they wouldn't be able to produce these raw materials in such a quantity, thereby taking the commercial power away from the South and giving it to them, the wealthy businessmen, in the North. It is always about money, honey. Money and control.
Have you ever walked out of a restaurant, after you were seated by a waiter/waitress?
Yes. Crazy story here. So have a seat!We had family visiting us from out of state. My sister had been following a “POPULAR” local eatery on FB and requested we go there on their visit. We, ourselves, had never been there.I called ahead to see if we needed a reservation since there were 11 of us. They said no.We arrived at the restaurant and the host looks at my 10-year-old niece and makes a snide comment to her about her father being a Yankees fan since he was wearing a Yankee shirt. We thought it odd, but laughed it off.He brings ELEVEN of us, seven of us being full grown adults, and the other four being children ages 10 through 13, to a table for SIX (6). I am not kidding! They somehow put two small tables together and arranged 11 chairs around it. There was NO WAY possible we were fitting or for our plates to fit. There were plenty of empty tables near us so we grabbed a table for FOUR next to us and the other seven stayed at the other table. Worked out beautifully.Well, HOST guy comes over and yells to us, “NOPE! You have your assigned table there. Get up! You cannot have this extra table!”I very nicely explain that it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to all fit there and if the extra table we took is for a reservation then we apologize, and if they can't accommodate us, then we will leave but would like to make a reservation for better seating for a future date. Mind you, the restaurant is 90% empty. There are only two more occupied tables.The HOST says in a very NASTY tone, “No, that extra table is not reserved. That is for other people who will be coming in throughout the day!”Makes no sense, so I say, “Okay. We're out!”We start leaving and the NASTY HOST says, “FUCK Y'ALL! I HOPE YOUR KIDS GET KIDNAPPED!”What the Hell? Sorry sir, now you just POKED Mama Bear(s) and Papa Bear(s). Needless to say, I lashed out, my family members lashed out. Some crazy customer got involved. It was a Sh*t Show for sure. My mother got the kids out of there. By the time we adults got out of there, Mr. HOST was hiding behind the counter behind two waitresses.It was a hard time calming my husband and brother down and not allowing them to beat the life out of this man. Let me tell you.What a crazy thing for a man to say about someone's children. We should have known from our initial “greeting” that this guy had mental issues.We found out that it is family run and this is how the HOST usually is. They consider it “harmless charm” and his sarcastic banter adds fun to the place. Uh, no…
Does china have american restaurants like the usa has chinese food places?
Yes, there are plenty of American restaurants in China. Hard Rock Cafe, Tony Roma's Pizza Hut, IHOP, and Sizzler are all there. And I'm talking about mainland China only. If Hong Kong's included, even restaurants like Ruth's Chris is on the list. BUT, like Chinese foods in America, do expect to find some dishes modified (or badly molested) to suit the locals. There are also dishes modified beyond your imaginations available too. For example, KFC tasted different in China; KFC in mainland China also sells: SHRIMP BURGERS!!! YES! KFC seriously do sell shrimp burgers in China! LOL Pizza Hut also tasted different in China. Italian sausage and oregano is not available there and there are some weird "speciality pizzas". You'll be able to find "Surf n Turf" and seafood pizza at Pizza Hut in China. Some Pizza Huts in China also sells: "Greek" grilled lamb shoulders, beef kebabs, and stuffed sole! YUP! There are Pizza Huts selling FISH in China! Curry chicken spaghetti is ALSO on some Pizza Huts' menu! LMAO!!! Personally, I refuse to eat quite a few American foods in mainland China. A lot of steaks there are almost always overcooked and the beef will taste different too. A lot of western styled soups there are scary. Dinner buns looked identical but they don't always taste the same. LOL Trying to find a burger cooked to your specifications (for example: medium), is almost impossible. American styled toast probably do not exist in China. Cereals, on the other hand, are available. But, some milk will taste a little bit different. LOL PS: Can you understand why many Chinese really don't like places like Panda Express now? Many American Chinese foods are actually rather scary to Chinese. LOL PPS: Chinese foods in UK are even more scarier! LMAO!
