Is My Mom Going To Have A Heart Attach

IMPORTANT!!! Is my Mom having or going to have a heart attack?

She said she has chest discomfort and pain in her jaw and her back. She also has shortness of breath, but she said that about 6 or 7 minutes ago. She said she might have a heart attack, but she told me not to call 9-1-1 because she says she doesn't want to bother them if she isn't going to have one (She did tell me to call if she says to call them). So, is she likely to have one? What do I do? I'm only 13.

Is my MOM having a HEART ATTACK?

Shortness of breath, tightness around chest and stomach, cold and clammy feeling, cold sweat.
She thinks its just a really really bad heartburn. Is it a heart attack? What else should she be experiencing?
She does not have back, neck, jaw, or arm problems. She was light headed kindof, and kept telling me she didn't know whether or not she wanted to go. She is now saying the problem is going down and shes not sweating but her head is slightly cold now. She feels a little weak.

My mom had a heart attack...now what?

Hey...Try not to be too worried at this point. First, the EKG is not a definate answer that your mom had a heart attack. Second, a stress test is a good indicator of possible blockages, but stress tests espically on women show that they may have blockages but many times read "false positive". That means it says they may have blockages, but in fact their heart arteries are clear or negative.

The heart cath will give definitive proof that your mom did or did not have a heart attack and that she did or did not have damage to her heart.

When your mom has a heart cath, and if it shows blockage. One...a stent can be put in to fix it (if the blockage is suitable for stenting). If she has multiple blockages (too many to put stents into), the doctor can suggest by-pass surgery. From what you say....no symptoms....that sounds unlikely. Third...your mom could have mild blockages (not tight enough to stent and not very severe) that the doctor can treat with heart medications, and monitor her. Fourth, the heart cath could be completely normal (the false-positive thing mentioned above).

Try not to worry too much. Heart technology has come such a long way in the past 35 years. There are treatments that can be done for your mom that can fix, maintain, and control many heart problems. About 40 years ago anyone with heart disease was put into a Cardiac Care Unit. The treatment was rest. Now there are wonderful drugs, miraculous treatments and skilled cardiologists that can "make things better" with the patient's cooperation. I hope this helps you to feel better. Is my mom at risk of a heartattack?

You didn't mention what the heart medicine was for and the name of the medicine.

Heart monitors usually go off when their is abnormality.

The age your grandmother died has nothing to do with heart disease unless she died as a result of heart disease.

Heart disease risk factors for yourself/family history:
-Diabetes
-High Blood Pressure
-High Cholesterol
-Vascular Problems
-Smoking
-Overweight, etc.

Blue lips can be from many things:
-Low body temperature
-Cyanosis (lack of oxygen in blood supply)
-Anemia
-Severe heart problems
-Lung problems

I can't tell you if she is safe to ride on an airplane. I don't know anything about her condition. People with certain lung, heart, or vascular problems should not fly. An example would be people who have had blood clots go to their lungs called a pulmonary embolism, which they would be on blood thinning medicine for.

Please consult a doctor about flying risk.

Best of luck!

Help i think my mom is having heart attack?!?

My boyfriend's mom had a heart attack?

He was adopted. His adoptive dad died a few years ago. He's really depressed. His mom just went into the hospital. I know she's had at least two heart attacks before. She's really skinny and healthy looking, but she is diabetic and she smokes. Is there a chance that she could survive? That is all of the info that I know of. Her last heart attack was somewhere between March-April. My grandpa survived 10 heart attacks, yes 10, and smoked and was diabetic AND overweight AND ate tons of greasy food until the last one killed him.. so could she survive?

Please pray for her, her name is Chris Bushong. She is the only thing close to a mother that my boyfriend has ever had.

How do I save my mom from having a heart attack if the doctor says she is at high risk of having one?

If she is high risk it means she has high blood pressure, she smokes, is over weight possibly diabetes and does not exercise. The sad reality is that only your mother can save herself from a heart attack.she needs to motivation to improve her health.Truthfully your best way to help your mother is to be a role model for her.You must not smoke, you must exercise, lose weight,go for checks of your bp and comply with doctor. If she sees you succeed it may inspire to her to change. Look after yourself and hopefully see may follow you.Good luck. We are all ultimately responsible for our ownhealth.

My dad had a massive heart attack at 42. My mom had 1 at 50. What might my chances be of having one?

My dad had a massive heart attack at 42. My mom had 1 at 50. What might my chances be of having one? There is a risk, so get it assessed by medical professionals. They will give you advice on how to reduce that risk. Whether or not you take that advice is on you.My father’s first heart attack at 47 came while getting a check up in the Coronary Care Unit of our local hospital. The attending told us he would have died had he been anywhere else. He had a second one a few years later, and a third a few years after that. After the third they told him to get his affairs in order because he only had about 10% function. He died several weeks later at 71.My older brother died from a heart attack at 64. My younger brother has a stint in his, and is on medication since he was 56.I’m going to be 70 soon. I’ve been active all my life, eat right, quit smoking and drinking in my early 30’s. Although not as active since I reached 65, my last check ups results were BP 110/78, pulse 68, and cholesterol at 170 using 40mg of Lipitor every evening. I had a stress test, and heart ultra-sound done a year ago with no abnormalities. I take care of the yard work, walk several miles a day weather permitting, shovel snow, rake leaves, and still lift weights. I used to run 5 miles a day into my 50’s, and could probably still do a mile without causing my bad knee to revolt. Maybe my lifestyle is the reason for my current good health, but I joke that my siblings got the good looks, and smarts, but I got the good genes.Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that at my last check up, my 15 year risk of Heart Attack is 14%

Is a heart attack a painful death?

I was suppose to have breakfast with my Dad to celebrate his birthday so I called the night before to make sure it would happen since he kept putting it off. I called my step mom and she told me he was not feeling well and was going to bed so I made the choice not to talk to him. I was mad thinking it was an excuse not too see me the next morning I found out through a text he had died from a heart attack. From what I could get from her is she slept on the couch so she wouldn't get sick and slept until morning. After waking up she went to check on him and noticed something was wrong and called her kids then after they arrived she called 911. It appeared he had woken up and knew he was in trouble and so he reached across the bed grabbed her shelf and knocked it over yet nobody heard the sound of it and her stuff hitting the floor and so he died. She said that due to his coloring the paramedics had told her that there was nothing she could have done to save him if she had known. After two years of being haunted by trying to figure out his final moments I finally learned what it would have been like. I am not going to tell you your Dad didn't feel any pain because all heart attacks are different with different symptoms for different people. But realize that he would have been unconscious within minutes so he would not not have felt it for very long. I cannot imagine what it is like to have to see that but I hope you can find solace to put you at ease. It's a long road ahead I hope you stay strong and have a good support system.
