Is My Navel Piercing Infected

My navel piercing got infected. Can I heal it with salt water?

Depends on how infected it is. Using a warm saline mixture a few times daily as a soak (cotton ball soaked in sea salt and warm water) is a good way to help heal it.  If it is red, painful, oozing, or anything else, be smart. See a doctor to be sure. Only you can tell the level it's at if you can heal this at home or see the doctor instead. Good luck.

How do I treat an infection in my navel piercing?

What do you think caused the infection? If it’s brand new and you haven’t changed it before, it may be due to lack of cleaning or the method of cleaning. There’s a difference in opinion between tattooists on the best way to clean fresh piercings so I’d contact the place you got it done to see their best recommendation. I’ve had my belly button pierced three times and the first time, I used salt water and that worked best but again, probably best to consult a professional and not go by the advice of someone who screwed up their navel three times. If it became infected after you changed it, it could be something to do with the new bar/hoop you’ve got in. I’d suggest changing it back to the one you got it pierced with, or whatever one you had before it got infected. Make sure you properly clean it (I used hand sanitiser and also soaked it in boiling water w/ anti bacterial soap).

Belly piercing infected after 5 years?

I got it pierced 4 or 5 years ago & I took it out for a couple days last week ( and ive taken it out and left it out for a WHILE b4 with no problem of it closing) and noticed it was swollen lookin as if it had a bump on the inside or like I had gotten bit by something then yesterday i was going to put a ring in it i had to kinda force it in. A couple minutes ago i looked at it and it looked like a lil puss was comin out of it. SO i took the ring out n cleaned it. I don't see anymore puss but it is kinda sore. I've never had a problem with it b4. How could it be infected all of a sudden? I dont wanna keep it out because after having a problem with it going in yesterday im afraid it will close up all the way if I keep it out.

Is My Navel Piercing Infected?????!!!?

ok, first of all, please don't tell me you still have the safety pin in there. It will never heal with that. You need to find a surgical steel round ring to put in there for it to heal . AND, whatever you do, Do NOT rub it down with alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, that could slowly guage your piercing. AKA: not good! Make sure that once you have put a good ring in there, clean in 3 times a day with antibacterial soap. Your best bet is to use ivory, it has no added perfumes, or any of that bad stuff that might iritate that piercing. As for if it is infected now, It sounds like it might be a little irritated but nothing really serious. Just do all the things that I have previously listed and you should do fine. OOOO put neosporin on it at night. That way, it can dry out during the day.

What are the signs of an infected belly piercing?

The #1 give away that any piercing or tattoo is actually infected and not just irritated is the smell. If there is no god-awful stench, chances are it is simply irritated and you should return to the piercer ask discuss why it might be irritated. Most doctors are not experienced in body piercings and will treat everything as an infection, regardless if it is or isn't. A trained body piercer will tell you if you are infected and then suggest a visit to the doctor.

What are some natural ways to heal an infected navel piercing?

You cannot heal an INFECTION with anything other than antibiotics. If it is a true infection, you MUST see a doctor. Now, if your piercing is simply irritated, there are a few different options. First, make sure that your jewelry is high-quality (implant grade titanium/steel, internally threaded). If it is, make sure that it is appropriately sized. Jewelry that is too small or too large will make a piercing irritated. As for cleaning, most piercings don’t need all that much help. Gentle cleansing with water in the shower and a sterile saline spray once a day(NOT H2Ocean, you need a saline spray that is ONLY water and sodium chloride, like Wound Wash) are really all you should need. Don’t play with it while it’s healing, just leave it alone.

Is my belly button piercing infected?

That's all completely normal. It will be sore for a few weeks. Redness and a clear/yellow discharge is normal and lasts the entire 6-12 month healing process. The discharge is not pus by the way, its lymph secretions and is a sign your body is healing properly, its often referred to as "crusties". Keep it clean using sea salt soaks until its fully healed. Mix 1teaspoon non-iodized sea salt to 8oz warm water, submerge your piercing in this solution using a very clean or disposable shot glass by bending over and placing the shot glass over the piercing and leaning back or laying down so its completely submerged. Soak for 5-10 minutes 2-3 times a day. Do not move or rotate jewelry for cleaning, it drags in lymph and bacteria causing irritation and can cause infection. Do not remove or change your jewelry until its fully healed.
Signs of infection are a dark/green/thick/cloudy discharge with a strong putrid odor accompanied by EXTREME redness and swelling and will become hot to the touch.

Is my navel piercing infected? No pain, redness or swelling, but occasional yellow discharge/pus...?

It's not pus, it's lympth discharge which should be clear to slightly yellow and is a sign of healthy healing. Navel piercing infections are one of those, if you have one you'll know, you won't need to ask if you do.

Is my navel piercing infected ?? *Need Answers, Please.?

First off, please ignore the answerer telling you to take it out for a bit. That is only going to cause infection.

Second, no, it's not infected. If it was you'd have excessive redness, hot to the touch, and yellow/green pus usually with an odor. Swelling, redness, white/clear discharge, crust, and itchiness are all normal parts of the healing process of a piercing. I'd definitely cut the soap...it causes build up and blocks out oxygen from getting to your piercing. If you're using saline, make sure it doesn't have any additives in the ingredients. I'd suggest actually making your own soaks (1/4th of a teaspoon of non-iodized sea salt to 8oz of hot water) and soaking it twice a day for 5-10 minutes each soak.
