First of all you cannot hide who you are following on Twitter, still what you can do is make a private list of the people which you want to hide.Well there is another way, you can add people to a list without following them, set the list to private and only you can see it. You won't be following those people so if following is important to you, I don't know of a way to do that.When you're at someone's profile, press the cog icon and then "Add or remove from lists".Create a list.Choose the Private option. If you don't choose it, the person you are following will get a notification that he or she been added to the list you've created.Now you have a private list with profiles that are not included in your following section. The person or brand you follow do not know that they've been added to the list.Just note that you will not see any updates from these accounts on the regular feed. To see all the tweets from the private list, you should go to your private list and check the tweets over there.

If it's already been retweeted, even after you changed the settings, what was retweeted BEFORE you made your account private, will still be visible. You should know though that regardless if your account is private, tweets can still be retweeted manually (i.e RT @username: [whatever you wrote in your tweet here]). That in mind, your account is never truly "private".

There is only one accurate solution in hiding your “following” list even if your account is not private, that is to unfollow anyone you are following and do not follow anyone that follows you. In the example below, I am sure that Andy Weir, whose account is not private, did not follow anyone that’s why his “following” list is not showing. And if he wants to hide his “like” list he will undo his only like then only his tweets and followers are showing. I hope that I'm making sense here. :)

They won't know unless you specifically tell them. Also, to be sure they can't find your Tumblr blog by your email address, make sure you hide your email address in your settings. You can do this by doing the following: 1. Go to your Tumblr settings by clicking the gear button on the top of your Tumblr screen. 2. Click “account” on the left side bar and on the Account screen on the right, make sure the box that says “let people look me up by this address” is unchecked. Click the save button. Also, make sure your Tumblr isn't connected to your facebook and twitter (if you have a facebook and twitter account) by going to your blog's settings and unchecking those two options.
