Is My Workout Length Long Enough

What if my hair isn't long enough to fit in a bun. It's shoulder length?

It's shoulder length when it's down and a bun doesn't really work. It's jus a stubby pony. What till the military think of that and what will they do?

Is 30 minutes of strength workout enough?

I agree with Steve Link. You need to set your goal first and then think about length, frequency and type of workout.Yes, 30 min is regular workout time for beginners, but I wouldn’t say it is best for after some time. I do around 30–45 min of workout for the main muscle group(depends on the day) and 10–15 more minutes cardio or abs workout.I would suggest not to limit on the length of the workout and focus on the workout it self.

Is one hour enough to build muscle, or 20 to 45 minutes and lose weight?

How about this simple formula? If you intend to use Powerlifting training with the big 3 to build functional lean mass and lose some body fat, then I have a quick answer for you and it is based on my own experience. It works for me and it may actually work for you too.Full hour (59 minutes) of training with either Over Head Presses, Squats or Deadlifts, using high intensity (reps and sets) and moderately heavy weights (heavy is different from one trainer to another) will build lean functional connective joints and lean muscle mass all over. You will NOT look like a bodybuilder, but you will be significantly stronger version of yourself and walk around with athletic posture and great cardio conditioning without doing any cardio!. These 3 exercises will cover everything from head to toe.59 minutes is a good number to play with. It seems like magic. There is no science in it. But it seems to work. It is worth a try. After 60 minutes, based on my experience, you will generate cortisol hormones or it starts the cortisol phase, which means you are not gaining anything except you are gaining fatigue.I learned this from an old timer Powerlifter and I was skeptic at first thinking that can not be true, but it worked for me . It is also a good way to prevent over training. Deadlifts and Squats are seriously intense and over training can effect you negatively and stopping at 60 minutes on the clock seems to be a good idea.Make sure that you Keep your breaks between sets and reps very short, for example 60 to 90 seconds. No more and no less.I understand 60 minutes of intense training may not be suitable for every one. Adjust based on volume, intensity and frequency.Pictures: me.PS: I am not a fitness trainer. I go by 60 minutes rule for strength training.I train 90 minutes or even more time with long breaks if I am training olympic lifts. I use light weights to train the skills. 90 minutes seems to work fine.

For a beginner, how long and how often should i work out?

start off with a full body workout about 3x per week for about 2 months so your body gets used to the weights.

full body workouts utilize compound exercises to build muscle, as compound exercises build the most mass.

I would start off doing these every workout:

squats (4x10 one set warmup)
deadlifts (4x10 one set warmup)
bench press (4x10 one set warmup)
pullups (3 sets until failure)
upright rows (3x10)
bent over barbell rows (3x10)

if you don't know how to do the exercise, just Google search the name or go to the website www.shapefit.com and locate the exercise guide.

most people do fullbody workouts on monday, wednesday, friday and these workouts last about 45min - 1hr.

you'll hit every major muscle group with this workout.

once you become more experienced and advanced you can split to an intermediate workout like 4 day split working 2 bodyparts a day etc.

diet-wise, just consume enough protein. if you weigh 150lbs, get in at least 150g of protein per day. basically, at least 1 gram per lb of bodyweight. eat chicken, beef, tuna, turkey, eggs, nuts and whole grain food like bread & pasta.

a whey protein shake wouldn't hurt either, i personally take one in the morning and another shake 30 min after workout.

good luck.
